Combination of CVT and poor standard engine tune has taken the life out of this car. The most disappointing aspect is that a decent engine tune on the FA20 engine with standard exhaust will get an extra 20KW and 50nm of torque, which then puts it in STI power range, however the CVT is then on its limits and is an expensive ticking time bomb. For good sake Subaru just put a manual in it!
For auto drivers they need to stop being dumbass cheapskates and put a damn DCT IN IT. For god sake 20k$ cars have dcts now days. Subaru have crippled every single car theyve made by not having a dct
In Europe we cannot understand why Subaru europe does not import this two-liter levorg. There' s only a ridicolous 1,6. And no Boxerdiesel®. Marketing ...What a strange word for Subaru
If the next generation Levorg STI has the same engine as WRX STI with the manual transmission it would be glorious. This car is still very nice regardless.
Well mighty car mods are making your dream come true right now as they’re doing exactly that, making a true STI Levorg with the same engine, transmission and everything
Lots of naysayers but it's actually a nice sedate car to drive with a bit of poke if you need it. Makes a great second car when you've already got a fire-breathing monster in the garage but don't want police attention every time you go for a drive.
lets see how many clutch dumps you can do on a manual before needing a new clutch or damaging something else in the drive train then see why slow launches are better
@@wax333 so you're comparing a hard dump on a manual vs a controlled launch from a cvt. You realise you can feather a clutch too right? Let's see them both lock at launch and see which one is going to cost a leg to replace
Hi, We always test cars in a number of ways, including in any manual modes and sport modes and try out all options, and then we quote the best time we achieved on the day. In this case the footage shown is simply an example of a test in 'Sport Sharp' driving mode and in auto for the transmission. It is not in our interest to 'manipulate' figures - how would this benefit us anyway? PS. Subaru claims 6.6 seconds. Interestingly, we clocked 6.36sec in the base GT version (as outlined in the written review). Hope this helps.
Shifters do nothing to help performance, they help when going down hills and you need to hold a higher gear, or the engine is racing and you want the ratio to be higher - CVT to do its own thing is faster than "manually" doing it. the WRX just revs to 7500 and holds there until you hit the speed you want, alot more efficent than a manual, but also alot less fun too.
Hi, I've got a car request for you. Could you please do a 2016 Mazda CX-5 KE Series 2 Akkera? I would appreciate it a lot. I love your reviews, enjoy the rest of your day! :)
I don't think a combination of this engine with a manual exists anywhere in Subaru's lineup.. the WRX STI uses the 2.5L one. The BRZ uses this engine with a manual, but isn't turbocharged.
I love the fact my 1997 WRX is more powerful, has more torque, is a shit-ton lighter, is better-looking, has better brakes, has a better gearbox, handles better, drives better, and has 170,000 klicks on the clock. And its name backward doesn't read "Grovel".

Same goes for Subaru of north America
biggest factor must be emissions test for your countries
subaru diesels suck
Same with Hong Kong 🇭🇰 we only have 1.6
you lucky,in indo we dont get subaru anymore since 2014/2015
6 Speed MANUAL PLZ
No!
@@Loki1815 what why not? You need EyeSight & all ?

i wish they had this subie in the states

that's a very big "if"

Seems to be really slow launching from a standing start, I guess that is a CVT for you.

Press the brake while pressing the throttle hard and let go the brakes. it will launch!
@@rsdynotune so brake launching? What do you think he just did? It's was limiting to 2.5k and he dumped the brakes
Dear Subaru, make it manual, bring it to europe. please!
i agree, the cvt completely RUINS it
How is this an STI? A few trim bits does not an STI make... Also, how is there no manual?
True ! Sti should have ej257
chipchip its fast but you're right "how is there no manual transmission"
Jacob Keepa I would settle for a dual clutch - but never for a CVT!!
Tobias Reynolds Yes those things are simply horrible
Forester sti is cvt too
My dream car
when we can buy the spec b sti in europe?
Nice, wish we had the 2.0 in the uk. Whats the song btw?
Wow they put an sti badge on the dip stick?
Are you manipulating the figures by using the paddle shifters, or are you letting the car do the "shifting" for itself?
its a CVT I believe.
Yes, but it still has paddle shifters to manually select pre-set ratios.
by the look of how the engine revv'd it's shifting itself in the 0-100 test

Why 2.0t levorg slower than impreza wrx sti.
3:28 why is it revving out like that?
CVT transmission
Sounds identical to the Forester XT rather than the WRX
its surprisingly fast to bring a cvt
Hi PDriveTV. Any chance of testing the Skoda Octavia RS (either in wagon or hatch)? Thanks.
Danny B I think they're based in Australia, the Octy vRS isn't sold in that market as far as I know :/
Pretty sure they are as I've got one and am based in Oz ☺
Danny B Ah right, I'm from the UK so just guessed :P
Why do you want them to test a car you already own? lol
Simply nice to know real world accurate tests vs manufactor claims. Not sure how owning the car negates this? ☺
Sounded like a diesel truck when it took off but it's quicker then the Holden SV6 Sportwagon
Yeah it's pretty much an evoke but with more power and more sports styling
Not a fan hey. A cvt firstly. Also I find them so boring inside and outside. Time for a major update I think.
Sound like a NA and where is the boxer nodes?
it has equal length headers
I've literally never heard of this model until now. Canada literally has nothing lol
so sad its not available in europe with that nice engine ...only shit 1,6ltr which sucks on Autobahn
where to get one though ?
This car needs after market exhaust badly
I know someone who has one of these and only seems to drive it in economy mode. LOL
where r u based ?
could you put a 5 speed manual in it?
havnt heard of anyone doing it but im sure if you used the wrx gearbox it maybe possible

300ps?
2:00 begin
0-100 sound
Will you do the new Holden Astra RS-V next?
Why dont we get these in Canada! They would do so well!
No they would g
Wouldn’t
Doubt it, people want a cheap Chinese SUV
Exhaust sounds poo compared to wrx's and sti's from MY11 onwards.
honda civic rs?
Hahaha
CVT? Why can’t Subaru just fit a nice 8speed automatic tranny?
A performance orientated car should never come with a cvt
It's not a performance oriented car
@@xXPandakXx then what is it? Sports suspension, 300hp motor. What is a performance oriented car for you?
can you do a Ford explorer 2016

subaru please add dual clutch instead of cvt, o dmt care if it eats more gas, u have a sports car, expect gas price
That is horribly slow
it's tragic
JDMteggy CVT says it all
Compared to what?
Wrx is 6 seconds . Thus is 7 tenths slower , it also weighs 100kg more
I would expect more from a well established brand like Subaru!
All show and no go.
Where is the "show" on this car?
The big bonnet scoop spells high performance right? Underwhelming 'performance' touring car.
No,it doesn't spell "high performance",the scoop is for the top mounted intercooler you dumb.
Why try defend it, even Subaru’s halo 2018 STI models can hardly outrun a front drive Toyota family sedan.
CVT...???? ..omg ..why didnt they put DSG into it and make it sport wagon , i would buy it over bmw
DSG got many problems with longevity
Launch control: ruclips.net/video/-30JeGmIXuk/видео.html Who would know otherwise?
Actually don't tell the missus...
skoda Octavia vrs is just as quick and cheaper
Pulled away from said skoda.Close yet no cigar ;)
