What part about it is it that you find scary @Sydopath? This is a recent study by Nazanin (we have a link to her paper on the website). There are other genes being discovered which operate in a far more complex way that we originally thought!
@@EpilepsySparksInsights Hi Torie. It’s a long story 😃 My mother was never diagnosed with epilepsy, and all her absence seizures and memory issues were put down to type1 diabetes. I have been experiencing similar symptoms for 7 years, and have been diagnosed with epilepsy - controlled by keppra & clobazam HO.WEVER I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren, and I worry that if it is genetic, that they will suffer like my mother did, and I do now.
I've had epilepsy all my life, and I was finally diagnosed with epilepsy until September of 2021. I inherited epilepsy from my dad's side of the family. Unfortunately, I am latina and the only one of my siblings who has epilepsy. I have had seizures since I was 2 years old. I had a hard time learning in school because I was having nocturnal seizures every night. I had to study very hard to make it to each grade. I am a visual and audio learner. Luckily I have an excellent neurologist who has helped me and stopped me from having any seizures. I have been seizure free for a year already.
A very significant subject - but quite scary.
Is this a recently discovered phenomenon, or just hasn’t been spoken about before?
