They really don't need doctors to prescribe drugs. Laws in thailand allow the pharmacists to prescribed drugs. It will just become like the pharmaceuticals where you just go in, they give you a prescription on the spot and you buy it.
The fact that over half the population applied for license and there has been no "major" negative incident since weed has been legal proves that the law is doing more good than bad and shouldn't be changed but adapted too help Thai people profit more
Yes they need to regulate how the weed is sourced. From the information i got from a number of shops, most of the weed is imported- which is not helping local Thais.

This can be resolved by supplimental lighting though. I think within a short time they can learn to grow, harvest dry and cure good quality cannabis.

The real reason this law change is happening is to monopolize the supply of the product into the hands of the rich who are the only ones that can afford the significant outlay required to set up a 'medical grade' grow. The big thrust behind the law change is to force people who want to grow weed to sell commercially, to grow to a medical grade standard. This instantly removes all competition from people in the small business sector. They simply can't afford to do that sort of grow. It is what has happened in Australia with medical weed supplied on prescription and in California and other U.S. states. The irony is it is like demanding someone grow their tomatoes to a medical grade standard before you can sell them at the local market. Totally unnecessary, yes it is a drug but the risks associated with it are the same as ingesting any other product grown for consumption on a farm. If the farmer uses bad chemicals on his tomatoes or sells them with mold on them it would be picked up in standard checks by the Thai equivalent of the department of primary industry. Weed can be exactly the same without a problem. This is about control of the market not prohibition.

Thanks for the video man. I am surprised that you are the only one on youtube who has uploaded an update on the weed laws since this a concern for people who blaze. Very informative. I should be good for Songkran 2024. Can't wait.

@keisone I'm landing in Bangkok mid Feb then heading to pattaya and then on to phuket. Hopefully they'll carve out exceptions for recreational use in tourist areas. Thanks mate!
If they make it medicinal only it will hurt their tourism. People will just visit and spend their money in neighboring countries which are cheaper than Thailand. Regulation, zoning and enforcement is the answer not going medical only.
The difference to buy is gonna b take note of ID and ask “Your depressed right” or “your having trouble sleep in yea” but the on site smoking is no loophole
Most important issue was not answered: Can a tourist on holiday obtain a medical prescription from thai doctor to purchase weed at shops or is it only for residents of Thailand?
Its funny how the locals approach their laws here. For jnstance, the 4am curfew wasnt supposed to go into effect until december 15th but i was at many bars on the 9th and they were well open until 4am.
Thanks for the heads up, I must have missed the news that the new laws are now about to kick in. There was a lot of confusion before about .2% THC, but that was not for flower but for extracts only, flower seems to not be understood as being essentially the same in effect as an extract by the Thai government, so they left that alone, that distinction was not mentioned in this video, the distinction between extract and flower. If they don't address that in the new law, there's a pretty nice loophole for there still to be legal flower of whatever THC level you like.
I go to the Netherlands for work and you can't smoke where ever there. But when we went to BKK there were tourist everywhere smoking where ever they want and then there are small tables just selling it even on the beach at Pattaya selling it I don't think that helped either. For me those day are long over so it's just for a holiday as usual and San Mig lights since I loved in PH love that beer.
The weed is a taxation problem which can be managed. The people and culture and what that leads to as a stepping stone keeps on failing. It becomes an efford driven compliance issue Thailand may not want to indulge in.

Most of what your saying is already law. Even a year ago i had to fill out and get a medical card before i bought some this was done at the counter at the weed shop
I just got back from Thailand 🇹🇭 and I noticed everything was more lay back and I was at this shop in Korat with the name superweed., and they lived up to their name. All the staff was sleeping and so was I 30 minutes later 😂
The fact that over half the population applied for license and there has been no major negative incidence since weed has been legal proves that the legalization is doing more good than bad .plz consider how harsh it can be if it is reversed.
Thanks for info. They could make all this so much easier by having but regulating things like edibles and vapes that don't leave weed smell, rather than nearly everything as 1968 combustible flower that does. The Thai government doesn't really care about the farangs except as money sources, so in the tourist capitals they could have an easy-to-get card. However, they try to attract such a wide sweep of tourists that they'll want to make it so some nationalities can go there and never see it. Amsterdam has had the same thing: catering to the soft-drug tourists while restricting activity to places easy for others to avoid.
Now you will have to show ID when ordering online and you can’t smoke inside the shops anymore. These will be the only changes. It’s only about age verification. They are already required to have a license.
Shame about all the law changes. The thing I love the most about being in Thailand is the sense of freedom. that sense of freedom you get in Thailand doesn't exist in Australia.

Nice overview, thanks for the update bro. Knew it was coming eventually haha, we were in Thailand when it was FIRST decriminalized and it was actually crazy. Next day, it was like you couldn’t NOT find weed if you tried 😅 Pretty cool experience, we were buying weed from a street vendor in BKK and there were cops with dogs walking right by LOL. Felt totally illegal. I have a feeling the cops just weren’t getting enough profits, so now they can bust all the shops and smokers breaking the rules every so often and collect the hefty fines…kinda like the mushroom shake bars in Koh Phangan where they periodically get raided, but never seem to shut down 🤔Im sure it wont be hard to find if you look for it - And some of the bars with smoking areas were totally secluded in the back, so I’m sure there will still be lowkey weed lounges - you just gotta know where to go!

Economically disappointing. It's really not my thing but being from Cali. USA, I've witnessed the income generation and job creation. In the end, people that want to smoke are just going to go "underground" for their supply which means an increase in organized crime and additional law enforcement staffing. They should just streamline the taxing of the product and treat it just like any other similar product, like alcohol for example. Watch the stat increase of people that have glaucoma or any other "medicinal" reason to have the drug.

I thought Bangkok will be the South East Asian Amsterdam... How disappointing
If this goes that way it will probably die a very stupid death. This morning I asked the manager woman at a large weed shop if she knew how many Thai people were employed in the recreational weed business in Thailand. Saying that she was not sure but it is thought to be around 24,000 employed. So this new rule that is going to save tourists from buying way over priced weed from legal shops and free around 24,000 Thai people from their income. If the rule is to keep Thai people from buying it then prohibit them from buying it and allow them to grow their own without interference by the government and it's need for endless forms and constant reporting of the same data over and over. Oh my a happy ending for all. IMO. PS Thailand is way too nice to pollute! Please be a responsible earthling.
No restrictions around growing it either they are allowing everybody to grow it now and they have been for a few years now so it would be impossible to put that toothpaste back in the tube.
As a medical patient here in Saint Petersburg, Florida. I have my cannabis card here under our medical cannabis, compassionate care program. And you made a valid point. They may offer on-site medical cards. Temporary 30 day medical cards for tourists. If you have a valid medical card in your local country. Or state where you live. That could be just enough to say. Hey, if it's valid there, it'll be valid here. We'll give you a medical ID Card that's valid for however long your visit is so you. Is your right? That opens up a lot of different possibilities
I got no horse in this race, but i can see if this happens then sales will start to revert back to underground sources where they were before and probably still are just not as much as they were before all these shops popped up all over the place. The average observed THC potency was 23.1% lower than the lowest label reported values and 35.6% lower than the highest label reported values. Overall, ~70% of the samples were more than 15% lower than the THC potency numbers reported on the label, with three samples having only one half of the reported maximum THC potency.
I'm Thai.. but I hated This government..
Thanks for the video man. I am surprised that you are the only one on youtube who has uploaded an update on the weed laws since this a concern for people who blaze. Very informative. I should be good for Songkran 2024. Can't wait.
It’s recreationally legal here in California for the past few years. Before it was only for medical.
This couldn't have come at a worse time. My trip is still a couple of months away. I'm not a big drinker and was hoping I could still catch a buzz without having to imbibe alcohol.
You will be sweet, I think the laws will roll out in April or march
@keisone I'm landing in Bangkok mid Feb then heading to pattaya and then on to phuket. Hopefully they'll carve out exceptions for recreational use in tourist areas. Thanks mate!
@@keisone i read in Bangkok post that it wont happen in atleast 6 months.
@@TheLasseF yeah, April - May is what I read as the expected rollout date.. they will probably wait until after the high season and Songkran.
High season has a new meaning LOL@@keisone
If they make it medicinal only it will hurt their tourism. People will just visit and spend their money in neighboring countries which are cheaper than Thailand. Regulation, zoning and enforcement is the answer not going medical only.
Thailand never ceases to boggle my fragile mind 😂
It’ll be just as Illegal as the bars selling 🐱 on walking street.
Keep us updated please planned to go end of this year !!
The difference to buy is gonna b take note of ID and ask “Your depressed right” or “your having trouble sleep in yea” but the on site smoking is no loophole
Most important issue was not answered: Can a tourist on holiday obtain a medical prescription from thai doctor to purchase weed at shops or is it only for residents of Thailand?
and can a forigner obtain a grow licence?or only thais?
no chance! not without a Thai.@@pj-vq3by
Yes
Its funny how the locals approach their laws here. For jnstance, the 4am curfew wasnt supposed to go into effect until december 15th but i was at many bars on the 9th and they were well open until 4am.
thank you for the information. what about the neighbor countreys? Laos, Camboddia, Vietnam?
Do they still have the old classics Thai stick, chocolate Thai, opium dipped Thai?
haha no
The weed is a taxation problem which can be managed. The people and culture and what that leads to as a stepping stone keeps on failing. It becomes an efford driven compliance issue Thailand may not want to indulge in.
Damn I better hurry up 🤣 I'll be there in 10 days, I can't wait, been watching your videos for weeks, It will be my 1st time!!!
So much for Thailand being a free country.
Never was. Just needs to be respected. Want weed? Go back to where yoy came from 😅
Cartels behind this law.
China behind this law.
Im Lucky i live in the netherlands opened the first coffeeshop in 1974!!!!! name yellow submarine and not only weed good hasj from maroc Libanon Afghanistan Thc lolly,s space cake ,s Tbc butter cookie,s only the weet het is better in Thailand
I’ve been there twice in the last year and thought; they couldn’t go backwards given how the recreational businesses exploded there. Apparently I was wrong. Given how money talks, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to navigate the system legally when I return.
Most of what your saying is already law. Even a year ago i had to fill out and get a medical card before i bought some this was done at the counter at the weed shop
Is weed good for sleep? Genuine question. I have insomnia and have tried everyhting apart from the doobie.
it is! just make sure it is Indica, the dark green one
Yeah or start with the extracts like brownies or candy
It's just .2%...
I can't feel my legs.
Month later now...anything change?
Now that its nearly March have the new laws been implemented? And if not how long have i got to get there before it changes?
Thanks for the info. You could say all use is medical use, I know loads of people who have used for pain etc., illegally for years.
Great video mate. Keep em coming 👊🏽
Thanks alot , so last update it’s legal to the end of 2024 ?
So how does it work if your a tourist? Or long stay traveller? I'm sure you can go get a "prescription" from a doctor in Thailand?
I stopped smoking weed along time ago and now i feel much better
So now you drink more ???
Do you miss smoking occationaly?
Now you will have to show ID when ordering online and you can’t smoke inside the shops anymore. These will be the only changes. It’s only about age verification. They are already required to have a license.
And no you will not need anything from a doctor just ID verification
Shame about all the law changes.
The thing I love the most about being in Thailand is the sense of freedom.
that sense of freedom you get in Thailand doesn't exist in Australia.
Aussies love having tons of rules
@@eagwrevbrew43 yeah, no
Yep australia = loads of laws for everything
@@georgethompson4283
We are a nation settled by convicts and reprobates so that probably has a lot to do with it.
@@aaron4387 exactly. It was effective at first but now theyve just taken it too far
A voice of sanity about the issue. Thanks for the great video and information, well presented.
Thanks mate! Been watching you regularly too, great to see you are doing well.. does the “broccoli” work? This vid went limited for me haha
@@keisone Yes :) Had to find some ‘code’ to work around Mr RUclips and his magic censorship bots. Broccoli works for me. Grateful for the presentation and realistic approach to the issue! See you soon.
Yo Bro. Wish you done this video last month. Atleast 2 shops you sat outside are my locals when in Bangkok. Give the Thai Cannabis Club credit they always take ID when a lot of other places don’t bother. I for one will be gutted if the laws are more strict, it’s one of the biggest attractions for me in Thailand 😢✌🏼
Thailand has gone to the gutter because of this.
@@brucef310and all the alcoholic pedos is ok is it! Jog on you c**t
@@brucef310yeah right the horrible “devils lettuce”s is ruining Thailand but legal prostitution and prostitutes on every street is so charming…….give me a break Bruce 😂
Nice overview, thanks for the update bro. Knew it was coming eventually haha, we were in Thailand when it was FIRST decriminalized and it was actually crazy. One day, we couldn’t find a joint unless we talked to the right people.
I’m going to Bangkok tomorrow. Is weed still legal there for recreational use?
I would like to see an in depth video explaining everything that's being changed what the reasoning behind it was etc
Thanks for the update !
It was definitely fun to have weed so easily accessible. I however do Not Need Weed. to have a good time.
Just a reminder that now is a good time to stock up on seeds. I suggest Feminized Auto-flowering. They require a minimum of indoor gardening skills. I umm saw it in a movie once...😉
Hahaha nice! I wanted a plant just because they look cool, but CBF looking after it haha
Yes it will be next to impossible to regulate you got that right because toothpaste doesn’t go back in the tube.
That's Great we are coming from Jan thru the end of March.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you have an article to support your snippet of the laws only being passed in Apr?
Edibles, rso, and concentrates are crucial to medical use.
Interesting info, what's your source? I haven't seen or heard anything official locally yet. There's been a lot of chatting about it, but nothing concrete that I've seen.
Bangkok post, Thaiger and a couple other local news stories.. 😊
Thanks for the update Handsome ❤

Economically disappointing. It's really not my thing but being from Cali. USA, I've witnessed the income generation and job creation. In the end, people that want to smoke are just going to go "underground" for their supply which means an increase in organized crime and additional law enforcement staffing. They should just streamline the taxing of the product and treat it just like any other similar product, like alcohol for example. Watch the stat increase of people that have glaucoma or any other "medicinal" reason to have the drug.
When!? I'm going in July this year again, i loved it last year and i'm not a heavy smoker
At the end of the year
Booked for Feb my man, the convenience was epic last trip glad it’s April for changes, good info 🙏👍🔥
late 80s use to score down the pool hall ko san road😂
0.2 thc is hemp. So thailand going from cannabis to hemp I'm looking to move out USA it was china or thailand I choose thailand because cannabis was legal
Important question!
Can you buy there good hash? ?? ✌️✌️🚨🚨🚨
Bless this amazing country, I will certainly be abiding by all these rules when I return next month for my 4th time this year hehe
Thanks for the update
41 million wanting the license means most would like to smoke.
0.2% ??? Is that for the plant as well? Thailand lost my buisness, I was coming out to visit, but they lost my money .. Their laws are stupid.. I'll stay in California Forget Thailand and their stupid Laws ..
I fly over in July. Can Smoke as last year? Like sitting outside a shop in Koh Samui and dont have to fear anything?
Good Luck With Enforcing these new laws, people love going forward with pro weed, no going backward good luck
you can do everything in Thailand , no matter what if you have 10,000 bath in your pocket when they catch you. And also there a hundreds of rasta bars around, so no big dill. For me this country stands for different types of recreation and weed tourism was bit to much, that saying guy who lives in Amsterdam for last 25 years. Im glad that kratom is still legal btw.
Since weed is legal. No significant criminal case rise. I am sure it’s never return to illegal again. 😊
Cannabis wont dissapear becouse people enjoy it to much but it will probably be regulated more . Aside from that its a part if buddhist culture. My tip is it will be like light painkillers like german model an aspirin.
Alot of times Thai government proposes new laws that never pass, or are deeply amended prior.
Shops don't need to close but what do they sell then? If they sell Papers and accessories then the Weed will be again bought from the Street and *control" is lost, just lol...
I did it in Bangkok (in Soi cowboy and Chinatown) and in Phuket Old town... but now after you have explained it... its a hassle after this gets enacted, I just cant come down there for a long weekend and to do it legally anymore... I thought Bangkok will be the South East Asian Amsterdam... How disappointing
Give it a couple of years. The drop in tax revenue will change their mind. Money talks this BS will walk.
agree
Great knowledge bruv 🤜🤛🏻
This is not good I was hoping to move to Thailand and start a new weed business there LOL
you would only have 6000 competitors haha
I don't smoke and this is a redicolous amount of interest in this topic 😂 didn't realize how much pot heads are around 😮
Happens when people find something that won't mess you up like alcohol. Though with everything best done under moderation
gee wally its almost like karen and sharron make the same law everywhere n.w.o. controls the weed to
If this goes that way it will probably die a very stupid death.
No restrictions around growing it either they are allowing everybody to grow it now and they have been for a few years now so it would be impossible to put that toothpaste back in the tube.
when its gonna change ? any date ?
The clinic will be next to the dispensary
Also things don't tend to change so quickly over here....so not sure this will go through too quickly
Thailand losing their recent tourism advantage 😂😂
I agree they will loose billions
My question is why ? Why mess with a good thing ?? 👀
