Should make a video explaining the differences between kimono, haori, noragi, hanten, gi and whatever other names they have lol. I like how you mentioned noragis have that mid cut cause that’s more my style and now I know noragis are my preference. I love what kith does with their kimonos, they are the ones that introduced me to the whole silhouette and I absolutely love it. Ever since then I’ve been on a hunt for kimono/noragis
I have one from Lad Musician, it looks super clean and is also very wearable in the summer. Don't think they're offering any right now on their online shop but honestly their other stuff look really cool as well
I recently found T-Micheal (via pinterest of all places...) out of Bergen, Norway, who collabed with traditional kimono makers Y. & Sons to make the "T-Kimono", which are fairly traditional styles of kimono made with premium wool suiting fabric. I get the impression they're supposed to fit the role of a traditional men's tailored suit jacket, and are priced to reflect that (avg cost being 800 Euros, which is on the low-mid range of how much a bespoke jacket costs, source: I worked for a bespoke tailor that did Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal suits for a hot minute, high end wool is no joke, costing $60-$500 per yard), so they're not the most ACCESSIBLE, price wise, but definitely drool worthy imo!
Banger video! And the Issey top looks great on you!!!
Thats the video I've been waiting for. Definitely seeing Vanquish becoming a staple for me. Thanks a lot 🙌
i bought a fdmtl haori jacket after you mentioned them in a previouse video, can confirm it's amazing
I have been thinking about kimono in addition for my casual wear. This is very interesting and helpful. Thank you for your video. =)
A day late but needed this video since a lot of my outerwear revolve around kimono jackets
Great content..thanks for the video..💚
Thank you Reggie
I have a noragi from Akashi Kama and I can corroborate that the quality and design is fantastic
about damn time! I done sourced my own
Honorable mention: sousou Kyoto which I found amazing for the reinterpretation of traditional prints, their flagship store is amazing!!!!
Yes, sousou is fabulous!
Hikeshi Spirit is an underrated brand. It has some fire “kimono style” pieces
Finally!
A good noragi is my number 1 item to pick up from Japan
Finally Reggie 😂🙏🏽
The video we’ve ALL been waiting for.
Surprised not to see Sou Sou on the list! Their designs are awesome and based in Kyoto.
Their stuff makes me feel like the chicest grandma. I'm often jealous of their men's section as some of those pieces are quite dramatic.
They launched a more subdued/Western-style line back in winter, I think. (Trying to remember when I first saw that second shop appear in Omotesando.)
The men's range doesn't differ in fit (ie hips are cut the same) so go for it! I think most of my wardrobe is from the men's section!
Maybe the lecoq sportif range? That's way more western and has their anniversary numbers print.
What do you think of Snow Peak?
YEAAH Noragi Skater🤘
Kapital is one of my fave brand~~~~~~~~~
where's your necklace from?
Only having size 2 and 3 at trove is rough.
i'd add prospective flow, californian based brand so accessible to the western audience, they have great trousers and noragi jackets, and lr3 studio in Europe, amazing hakama trousers (but definitely pricey)
Trove!
Whenever you do these types of videos I always stop after each one to go find what you mention. Like, I have to set aside an hour just to finish the video.
This channel is so good, It's hard not to sound pretentious but you never do and the knowledge you present is clearly coming from people that care and love the art of making clothing. Just simple things like your advice at 4:35, this kind of thinking about others & detail is exactly what I'm looking for. Great work...
Thank you for being so respectful and responsible with the knowledge you spread. Other creators that *try* to speak on Japanese culture quickly revert to being lazy and vague, very embarrassing and disappointing. While you take the time to be ACCURATE. 🙌🙌
anyone here have any lower end, cheaper brand recommendations from europe?
arigato gozaimasu 😍😍
Earlyyyyy
FDMTL 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maharishi do some cool kimonos. Not a Japanese brand though.
A non Japanese but still awesome, Jan Jan Van Essche.
Please make the video of what the Kimono categories are
what do you think of Prospective Flow? i think some of their pieces look dope!
Naked and famous has a great noragi
i wish you did videos for girls :')
HHHEEELLLLL YYYYEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WOOOOOAHHHHBH
i think the vanquish one is over cos i cant seem to find any on their website.
I'd love a link to the pictures of the vanquish long jackets though. They'd be a great reference. I can't seem to find them on google
N O R A G I B O I S
Hamcus has a rather unconventional noragi if you're daring enough 👀
Hamcus is pretty amazing
Besides Vanquish, I also got a HANTEN from a brand call HIKESHI, it also has good quality (I think) and with affordable prices when it's on sale. just sharing some info!
I just want a black flowy noragi in the US, man😭
Why would a Japanese brand make something that is better for tall people
A little misleading. They didn’t make the brand for tall people, they made it for people who know how to wear them i.e. the Japanese. Westerners tend to see long, voluminous styles reserved only for tall individuals but the Japanese challenge that way of thinking. Which is why you should reference them when deciding to partake in such silhouettes.
