How Broke is Peter Griffin?

- Family Guy has become a staple of cartoons after its two decades of airing. With no end in sight, now seems like the perfect time to look into the griffin family's finances to see just how broke Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie, and Brian actually are and see if Peter's antics and many different jobs played a major role.

I’m pretty sure Peter and Lois rent their house. Stewie even says it
That's why the timeline is wonky because theyve also said they bought it from a lawsuit and that Carter is paying for it.
@Evan Bolger But didn’t in one episode they sold there house to buy a farm and in another Lois says that her dad owns the house because he bought the house for them.
Peter admits in the newer episodes (season 18) carter pays for his bills
@@kanyevil127 they sold their house like 3 times one was the farm and another was the manison episode from like 2001
I remember that lois's father bought the house
Remember when Peter tried jumping into a pool like thing full of gold coin like ScroogeMcDuck
I almost used that clip for the intro
I was going to say how rich is Scrooge the duck 😭
Nayeli Cerda this would be good. He has a whole lot. All those coins in his vault are gold so they are worth way more than the face value of the coins. Oh and it’s Scrooge McDuck he is Irish
It's not a liquid! It's a great many pieces of solid matter that form a hard floor-like surface!
Bear 0601 iTs nOT a LiQUiD
You also forgot Peter's child-like laughter, which is priceless.
Worthless*
DrWho1596 Priceless*
Connor Likes Cars still worthless* I find his childlike laughter to be pointless cause the things he’s done that now currently go out of his way to harm others for a gag.
@@DrWho1596 and?
That shit is funny.
DrWho1596 oh my GOD shut up
Stewie is literally a 21 year old baby that sounds like he's in his mid 40s
To quote Stewie "I don't need to defend (stewie) to you (he's) doing just fine without you"
Lois's dad is a billionaire who probably gives her a hefty allowence
Lois turns down the money when she's offered it
I reckon Stewie is the one making all the money. He’s seen working jobs in background multiple episodes and is constantly spending money on expensive things like weapons and a time machine.
crovax 13 Lois does but not peter. They make jokes about how carter owns peters house

The only unrealistic thing is a bank account in the US paying 5% interest.
Right? Rates are more like 0.25% right now for a straight savings account, and around 2% for accounts and certificates with minimum balances.
Agreed. I just checked the national rates, and only a couple banks offer even 2%, and one required a $10K balance. On the other hand, would Peter have a Roth IRA, pension plan, etc.?
Baby boomers could get 10% certified deposits too before the '80s
@@aadamtx Definitely no pension if he's working private sector in Rhode Island..
Yeah I think he meant in the '80s or something I had a 3% savings account in '96
Stewie's tricycle gets stolen:
Peter: "I only had 5 payments left on that thing."
Stewie: _"how much do you MAKE?"_
*LOIS:* ...., we're renting this house.
*STEWIE:* That's depressing.
Lmao
IDK if you did this but please do, How rich is Carter Pewterschmidt. Love the videos!!
A lot of sources say $2.5 Billion
mod peace yeah they are
I would like to see this too. Even if he is worth 2.5 billon, I wanna know what he’s got lol. Like his assets and how he made his money and started out.
@@virgie4715 he runs a 6 billion dollar company so u do the math
It's been said he runs a 6 billion dollar company
Wait, I thought peters REAL father was in Ireland?
Master Of Plauge your right
Master Of Plauge Peter’s mom went to Mexico to get the abortion, but instead he was born there
Yes, but he was raised by his Catholic one. His Irish dad went back to Ireland to hunt and get wasted basically
His biological father never helped raise him at all. He only really existed as a joke anyway given how he only appeared once and was only brought up at least a couple of other times.
Master Of Plauge He is. He was seen once and only once. Forgotten about.
The Family Guy timeline is always so wonky and self-restarting
Cause I swore at one point in the show that Peter (After being denied sex with Lois) gave a rant that revealed Carter was paying for their house.
The did a recent episode where Peter and Lois married in the 90's. Its a bit all over the place.
Note that Lois has actually said that they are renting their home, in addition to Peter having sold the home at least twice throughout the series.
There's this episode where they were also billionaires, so u neva know..
Also when Peter and Chris play unga bunga Stewie says that their house is worth $4
In an episode where Meg and Peter have bonding time Peter explains how he gets money to do the things he wants to do... Him and Meg then proceed to rob a bank while Meg kills hostages
There was a cutaway in one of the episodes where Peter takes Meg with him to rob a bank. Telling Meg this is how he funds his shenanigans and expesive contraptions he has.
My favorite cutawayand I forget which season of this is where Peter and Carter doing something and Peter looks down at Carter's net worth and goes I'm worth 1/5 of that. That would explain alot if Peter is rich but not mega rich.
I was just gonna comment that
Let's make this the top comment
Quick talk about something
Ugh ... What's your favorite family guy cutaway.
According to a song peter sang during the quagmire and peter episode, he has $35,000 in credit card debt
Hahah true
@@BeeFZidePilloW thats a fucked up thing to laugh at
Peter is in massive debt but Carter pays everything off to keep his daughter off his back.
He wouldn't give any of the characters money on multiple occasions so I doubt it.
Personally the “show within a show” concept is off putting.
I agree. What's this reality tv nightmare?
Showception
Palm Spirit I think they just put that concept to try to make it “more funny” but all it’s done was make it unbearable to watch sometimes.
Really shows how downhill the show has went.
It became a theme between Family Guy, Cleveland Show and Amercian Dad. They don't reference it too much though.
Kyler Don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a stupid gag that the writers put in for humor. They aren’t revealing anything.
4:56 Piano teacher here! Typical pay is £35/hour, which is about $45. This is the UK, but we have a lower GDP per capita than the USA, so I would expect it to be higher still.
Standard rate in the USA is $50 so not too far off :)
On the episode where Stevie finds his old teddie bear, Lois reads a note from her parents that says “3 kids on 40k a year, good luck.”
“To the hindenpeter!”
*flies into Joe’s house*
“Oh my god!”
“Joe I am so sorry”

Do How Much is Randy Marsh Worth?
He's worth over a few million at least since he grows weed and does music and he seems to pur away money he doesn't have a big house or a nice car that's just my thought tho
Between his geology career, releasing hit music under the Lorde title, and his current business ventures I would think the family is rather well off.
He lives in Colorado, they have a high standard of living
Though I gotta say South Park seems like a not too affluent place, but him tho he may be the exception

@@jevon8353 not all a lot but he still had money hide as you see in the episode where they all had guns
In one of the episodes Peter says that Carter Pewdershmidt pays for their house, and in another one it shows that he robs banks to financially support his antics
This is amazing. This video isn't just a bunch of figures but kind of an unwritten history of the Griffin family
Excellent job. Those buildings in the background behind Peter's house are One Financial Plaza (the box shaped one) and The Superman Building ( the one with step shapes) because they filmed the old '50s tv show there) btw..
The Griffins rent their house. It’s been mentioned in the show.
tjrieves but they also sold it in the episode where they sold meth so they aren’t renting it
mel v yeah and in the lottery episode peter put the houses mortgage to buy the tickets
Lois said carter pays for it
Can you do F is for Family? I feel Frank Murphy would be a good one for the how broke is series
You should do How broke is the family from Malcom in the Middle

Here's a crazy thought: would you be able to reverse engineer education? By that, I mean, take someone like Rick from Rick and Morty or Sherlock Holmes and calculate how much it would cost to educate them to their base of knowledge?
I really like this one
oh my god
*someone who wants a popular channel*
“Write that down! Write that down! We can call it “BreakDown Education”
You do know that most of a person's base of knowledge doesn't come from school, right?
@@titanhades4331 That's entirely fair. If we just included traditional schooling , someone like Batman would probably seem cheap and most of his knowledge would be forgotten. For traditional schooling, he only has a couple semesters at Princeton.
Hey, look at me Lois! I'm in a 10k Productions video! This is just like that time I was arrested for tax evasion, heheheheh!
In one of the early seasons (2 i think?) Stewie is on "Kids Say the Darndest Things" and he states that Peter is 42.

I don’t remember what episode is it but I could’ve sworn I remember Louis mentioning the fact they they rent.
It could be rent to own but idk

Stewie: well that’s depressing

@@chloeebaaker but at the same time Peter on one occasion mentions that Carter owns their house so now I'm even more confused
Jimmy that’s the issue, this show constantly contradicts itself. But, it’s also a floating timeline cartoon do you can’t really take everything for face value
Chloe Baker the only reason i remembered was because I watched the episode. I also remember episodes where they sold the house or moved like the one they cooked meth and moved back and bought their house at below market value
Y’all don’t remember when Peter tells Meg that he robs banks to buy all the extravagant stuff
Trying to figure out Family Guy's timeline??? Dude, you deserve all the awards 👏🏻
I seriously appreciate all little details that goes into this !
I would like to see a character analysis video about Andy from Parks and Recreation

How was rent almost $1900 in the late 70s early 80s I don’t see that
Rhode Island
Rent in Rhode Island in the late '70s and early '80s was $150-200. $300 for luxury. Per month. This was before we had 20+ million non-citizens around. We used to automatically deport people who were caught sneaking in they stopped that until Trump

THere is a episode where lois tells peter not to scratch up the house bcs they are renting it and stewie says thats sad
He can regenerate, tolerate unholy amounts of pain, transform into a dragon and handle a shotgun. So I'd say pretty broke.
...Oh you mean financially.
I think the family would be pretty broke. There’s a cutaway gag where Peter says something about not being able to sleep at night because of the crippling medical debt they have.
My parents used to be illegal and would pay taxes so yeah that makes sense. Also, its apart of the newer episodes but Lois's parents pay for the house
In the episode of the drinking law adam west says "if we can't trust a 42 year old man to drink resbonsibly, we'' have to raise the drinking age" which would mean that peter is 42 years old
Try getting kids today to believe that banks once paid 5% interest on savings.
Ikr my old man remembers banks offering certified deposits at 10% in the '70s
I’m pretty sure Peter gets his money by robbing banks.
Damn it I though he was gonna say the whole song
It seems today that all you see are families on tv

* Stewie in the show mentioned that the house is rented
* Peter also mentioned that Stewie was a child model and that he uses the money Stewie makes for all his shenanigans
Other than these 2 mistakes, you did a fairly amazing job on this video!
With the release of The Witcher series I got to thinking, how profitable would a job like monster hunting be? Could that be a feasable profession? If so, is there a way to figure out a general income for Geralt?
Ever hear of bounty hunting...that's a real profession... it's that but with monsters instead of people duh lol....
The books talk a lot about how witchers actually make money
I’m stoked for this!!! I didn’t think you do it!!! Thanks bill!
RUclips shoved this video down my throat so many god damn times but I don’t regret watching it
Stewie said peters age at 42 when he had to talk to the psychiatrist
Seth Mcfarlane went to my high school. Fun fact you probably don’t care about.
Actually they rent the house as said in a later episode. But I believe you did a great job staying within the earlier episodes! Keep up the good work!
Also in your floating timeline, they also said they were renting the house.
Michael Strange they also said carter was paying of the mortgage
So Tina from Bob’s burgers was born in 1998 and so was Stewie... meanwhile I was born in 1999 so these characters are older than me but still haven’t aged 😂
