However there are much less women than men in chess, so therr are aeparate women's tournaments and titles to encourage more women to play. Then there is the issue of sexism in various forms (harrasment, prejudice, stupid comments... or things like the Ana Rudolf lipstick incident (she won over some guy, who the accused her of having an engine in the lipstick)) which happens quite often to women playing in the open touranments, so many prefer the women's events.
