I did kickboxing from ages 12-19 and was lucky enough to have a coach who was both an amateur kickboxer and a golden gloves champion. I have the perfect balance of being a great kicker and a great boxer and I still practice on the heavy bag like 4-5 times a week. Thankfully I’ve only been in one fight (it was self defense) but the other girl who threw the first punch DEFINITELY regretted it.

I've mostly done TKD ITF. But I did do kickboxing for a few months. And most of the guys would ask me how tf I was kicking so hard? They'd ask if I had any MA experience. I'd say I'd did TKD they'd be lik, ohhhh yea that makes sense. From my experience, I got kicked way harder on average in tkd than I ever did in the few months I did kickboxing. But first month I got punched in the face a lot, lmao. Imo tkd has the most powerful kick muai thai has the hardest kick. And yes there is a difference.

People seem to forget about ITF taekwondo, we have kickboxe like sparring, and beside kicks and spinning ones ITF have elbows, knees and punches, and beside effectivity (that we have) ITF need discipline, respect for the tradition of the art, integrity and most of all a indomitable spirit!
I would say muay thi is a bit better just because of elbows and elbows are devastating in a street fight and they have low kicks which are more effective in a street fight than roundhouses. But if you’re a boxer just train elbows which is the exact same as throwing a punch and you’re set

Taekwondo is an awesome martial art to start with, i began in taekwondo at 10 and when i was around 17/18 i started muay-thai, i had all the flexibility and speed from the Taekwondo added to the power and precision of Muay-thai. I believe taekwondo can mix with a lot of martial arts since it gives you strong legs and sense of space also.
Taekwondo is a sport that is kick focused, setting kicking strength asside am confident in saying kicking speed and agility is unmatched. you can get hit from all angles in any range.
TKD taught me how to maintain balance and technique. Doing the same thing over and over and over again. Learning that too much power in a move results in being off balance and what not. Having proper technique is more powerful than just using strength. Kickboxing took those things and showed me how to apply them in a fight. I learned how to read body language and the timing of blocking and countering. You start to get good at either knowing what your opponent is likely to do before they do it or baiting them into reacting in a way that gives you the edge.
I have been doing Taekwondo since I was 3 years old, and I have to say that with solid training like they made me do, your kick and power could be much stronger than that of Kick Boxing, or your technique could be much more strategic, because in Taekwondo they help you always remain humble, especially with belts lower than yours..
Ya but the thing is if you do a back kick or a spinning hook kick in a street fight you better hit that or else you are simply going to get rushed and pummeled if there a semi decent street fighter. I’m thinking about joining tkd but a lot of it is only good in the perfect Sanrio and that just doesn’t happen in street fights stick with low kicks in a fight

Song Moo Kwan, Chung Do Kwan, Moo Duk Kwan, Kwon Bop Bu / Chang Moo Kwan, and Yun Moo Kwan / Jidokwan are the original 5 kwans. Chung Do Kwan is older than ITF.

we do kickboxing at my club but the master is actually a 7th dan in TKD so we do ITF sparring and learn more taekwondo stuff, but we learn proper punches and can hit the head with them
ITF, or the original taekwondo style made by the founder, and it focuses on punches and kicks, taekwondo means punches and kicks, but WT taekwondo is the taekwondo we see today, with more kicks. ITF also has boxing in it, and low kicks, and really nice sweep kicks, for takedowns, they also use shin kicks. ITF has elbow and knee strikes, I'm pretty sure it has grappling too ITF is used more in North Korea, if you want to go learn real, authentic, effective, non mcdojo, non bullshido taekwondo, probably go to North Korea ;)

That all depends on the prioritised style of the mixed martial artist , some mma fighters have pretty good muay thai skills aswell as having submissions and ground game. It all depends on the practitioner and what their skill level in the different respective arts.
Kickboxing is more practical especially if you train k1 style kickboxing with low kicks. There are many Dutch kickboxers with legendary skills and they specialise in the full contact style .

You really would never know who would win because alot of questions are left...not just speed and power.....they all have their own ways of fighting.

I do taekwondo, but I look at it as a foundation, I am going to move on to Kyokushin as it’s noted as more effective than Maui Thai, wish me luck

All martial arts are good but ultimately it's always the fighter and not the art that makes the difference.

Cause what's the difference between two great martial artists, when one trains oldskool boxing and the other kenjutsu, but doesn't have his blade, or in an Aikido vs boxing matchup.
Not true at all the fact is certain arts are better than others Kickboxing is better than Taekwondo as Kickboxing is actually full contact unlike Taekwondo. Taekwondo is also incomplete compared to Kickboxing as Taekwondo only has legs while Kickboxing has hands and legs.
