A classical adaption featuring 3 iconic themes from Beethoven’s piano masterpiece. This fingerstyle arrangement is segmented into 3 themes: Melody A, B, and C. Melody A and C are largely the same, differing in only 1 bar (the endings). Melody A and C consits of a minor sounding theme (based around A minor to E Major). On the contrast, Melody B is completely unique and introduces a brief change to a Major sounding theme (based around C and G Major).
Set in 3/4, our rhythm consists (almost) entirely of steady eighth notes. The chords in Melody A and C are familiar shapes, but Melody B introduces new shapes via a melodic walk-down. Familiarize yourself with these chords before attempting to fingerpick that section. The trickiest bars in this tune are 13-16. This section sees us playing an E5 chord that utilizes an awkward stretch. In part 2 of the lesson video, we will be discussing the best way to handle this stretch chord. I’d also recommend reviewing our lesson on our increasing left hand reach, if stretch chords are new to you.

What you are teaching is valuable! And these people saying they don't want to pay is upsetting. You've done a lot of work already, and I think you would do well as a member of the Patreon Community. Swift Lessons and Cynthia Lin are excellent models, and I know you could build a tribe of followers. Love what you're doing.

Awesome to hear! I play a Kanile'a K-1 concert. You can get one from Mike @ UkeRepublic.com. Tell him I sent ya!
Sure! also, are there any cheaper ukes you recommend for beginner-intermediate level players?
I really dug the Pono Mango uke. It's around $400 USD or just under, maybe $350. May be good for you! Check it out!

Hi Andrew! This is great! There's a very similar version by Mikalele and I've been trying to learn that since last week, but the video doesn't show how tabs are played. Thanks for this! :)

We did an arrangement on "A Fifth of Beethoven" which uses the music from the symphony. Here's the link to check it out: ruclips.net/video/v-NegKfk1jU/видео.html
Is this a concert or tenor ukulele? Also beautiful ukulele, I just started 3 days ago. I have a concert, I meant to get the tenor. However I actually have been liking the harp like sound of a concert.
Thank you! It is a concert sized uke. If you need some ideas on where to start, check out this page: rockclass101.com/learning-paths/. Let me know if you have any questions 😊
@RockClass101 I have a concert, so that's great. I want to buy a tenor next. I'm planning on having both types. I am not sure what brand to go for. I want to focus mainly on Spanish and classical finger style.
Reach out to Mike at: www.ukerepublic.com/contact-us.html
He'll be better able to answer that question. Tell him Rock Class 101 sent ya 😊
Omg this got so confusing you would repeat it and I thought you were going on another line 🤯🤯
How can I help? What's confusing?
Me an absolute beginner trying to learn this 🤯
Keep at it! You may want to check out this classical arrangement. It's very beginner friendly: rockclass101.com/opus-60-no-1/

I'm still finding the answer to which uke sounds the best (:
Let me help you with a simple answer: Kanilea. He plays the K1, I play the K-2T - fantastic instruments!
I feel like a few notes are missing in the tabs. On the 2nd variation of the Am section right before the 2-3-5 your hand does this really cool shift lower down the neck and it seems you pluck an extra note. Am I just imagining that, or is it omitted from the tabs for some reason? It’s right at around 00:27 when the hand jumps. Thanks so much! I will try to slow the video down to find the note.
Ohh, I get asked this every so often. It's just something I do, pay no attention to it :) But, the tab is correct - no extra notes :)
thew bob ross of ukulele
10:42 I find the 3rd string has no role at this point. Then what is the use of freding that? Please notice carefully.
A lot of folks are familiar with fretting the E7 shape, which is why I suggested it. But you can leave that finger off, it's not needed.
wonderfull arrangement! :)
and by the way: its calles "Für Elise" so you may want to correct the title ;)
On E7 there's no point holding the middle finger on the string, since you don't use the string on that tab
True!
Why are u putting middle finger on 3rd string 2nd freight if you are not using it while playing the 2nd bar
Good question, BK! 2 reasons, the most important one is if you accidentally hit the open C sting, that note will clash horribly with the E chord you are playing out of. Second, most of us have established the muscle memory to form the E7, so it feels natural to just form the full chord.
Thanks
Does anyone know if this works on Soprano? Going down to seven makes it way too pitchy
You can play this arrangement on soprano. It sounds like the issue is with the ukulele itself. You may need to have it set up to correct intonation, so that note pitches remain in-tune throughout the entire span of the neck.
Where is part 2??

@@RockClass101 thanks!
Just curious: what’s the point of putting down the middle finger on the E7 chord if the C string is not picked during that portion of the song? It sounds identical without the C string pressed.
Good question, Lance! 2 reasons, the most important one is if you accidentally hit the open C sting, that note will clash horribly with the E chord you are playing out of. Second, most of us have established the muscle memory to form the E7, so it feels natural to just form the full chord.
Rock Class 101 Thanks so much! That makes a lot of sense. Great video. I’ll also fo the full E7 from now on during that part. Newbie here :-) I am playing with a wound low G string. I assume I just play it the same as in the tab?
My pleasure! And yes, the same. Low G will work for this song, but keep in mind that when we arrange, we take advantage of high or low G tuning; so it will always sound best on its intended instrument. We've got around 25 tunes for low G, if you wanna check em' out: rockclass101.com/low-g-ukulele-songs/
Rock Class 101 Ohhh thanks that’s excellent. I just subscribed and registered with the website. Glad I found your channel!
Everything is awesome but you kind of give to much detail (talk a lot) but everything is awesome
Can anyone one please tell me which company of that ukulele is playing on? I have a ukulele made by hearts , but I am not satisfied with it,I want to buy that product. It would be very helpful if someone let me know the price also.
Please let me know.
I play a Kanile'a K-1 concert :)
Someone let me barrow membership account or something I really want to learn the whole sing (: or send tabs or something pleasse!!!!
I'm swapping out sample lessons and highly considering this as one. Hang tight!
Where is part2?😯
Here it is and it's free! rockclass101.com/fur-elise/
Isn't it "für" Elise? Or was she furry? :D
Amazing cursed Comment but horribly placed.
How do you make the uke sound so clear? do you have a really good microphone/studio or is it just a work of postproduction?
No mic, I plug in direct using an LR-Baggs pickup. Kanile'a's are designed to have a strong signal output, producing a very clear tone. We're actually going to have a Q&A soon with their owner, keep an eye out for that video as I'm sure we will talk about this point.
Rock Class 101 I will definitely watch that! thanks for the answer.
@@RockClass101 Which strings do you use on the Kanilea, Worth clear fluoros or what, please?
I cant find its second part. Somebody help.. I tried checking the link you have provided but it is saying "this site can not be reached "
Sorry about that, Anusrre. We had to run an update for the server, so our site was temporarily unavailable. We're back up now!

That click at the end 1:17 is that from the mic or the uke? Can't seem to get my strings to make that kind of sound.
Hi Jenny! Sounds like my fingernails made the attack of the harmonics brighter. Here's an extra lesson on harmonics, just in case you need it: ruclips.net/video/G9YD1xvDmtY/видео.html.

which type of ukelele you are using?
It's a Kanile'a K-1 Concert. You can learn more about it here: rockclass101.com/why-kanilea-is-my-favorite-hawaiian-ukulele-brand/
Why do we need the middle finger on the C (for the E7)
if we don’t use it?
Good question, Tomily! 2 reasons, the most important one is if you accidentally hit the open C sting, that note will clash horribly with the E chord you are playing out of. Second, most of us have established the muscle memory to form the E7, so it feels natural to just form the full chord.
Rock Class 101 Thanks; that helps. You’re a great teacher in this tutorial, very patient and clear. I checked out your site today and it has a wealth of helpful information as well. I really appreciate how you intersperse things about playing dynamics and emotion - that makes such a difference between just knowing how to play the notes and really feeling the music (and making your audience feel it too)! After learning ‘Für Elise’, I plan to take some of your courses from the beginner level and hopefully beyond... Thanks for all that you do; I’m excited about playing the uke again! 😄🎶✌🏾
