The Greatest Showman is a great demo disc to test out music voices from your speakers. Another great demo disc a bit older this time no singing is Master And Commander blu ray. Some of the best realistic sound effects ever in a movie. I bet it would sound awesome with those JTR speakers & subs.
Great video first off. I have been using several rp 280 series for the last 5 years or so and was thinking of upgrading in the next year or so. Initially was thinking about rf 7iiis but I felt like it might be better to save and go straight to jtr maybe three 212HTR first for front stage then slowly build the rest. Do you think it would be a large difference in quality that would make the upgrade worth while?
I do. Most people would be absolutely thrilled with the RF7 III. I still thoroughly enjoy them. The midrange on the 212HTR is what really separates them. Absolutely fantastic! But I would sure hope so, the coaxial driver alone cost $900.
Hey Michael, I am a new follower of your channel and love the information and passion for home theater that you share. I am new to this and trying to navigate all the options for my first HT build. I don't have the budget for JTR 212HTR, but I was wondering if you have heard any JTR "base" models (like 210HT)? Just curious if they share some of the same qualities as your JTR212s. I am planning a HT room 23'x20'x9' with a mix of music and movies and trying to find some options to fill the room with quality sound. Thanks!
I have Experienced 4 JTR’s systems and have been impressed by each one of them. The models with the letter R in them (ie. RT, RM) have a higher end $900 Coaxial driver but the non Reference JTR still sound incredible.
OMG Youthman you'll ruin me someday 😅 I ordered a JTR Captivator rs2 for my hometheater. I have the Klipsch R7 III and the RC 64 III for my front stage. It is loud enough for me (excapt base (got the spl-150) but the RS2 should arrive soon) and i never ever crank them up at nearly maximum volume. But my question is: will it though bring a huge advantage if i will get some 215rs and 212htr for my front stage. Or would you say the sound of the Klipsch is pretty amazing and if i won't go that loud, it is more then enough? Or is the clarity and sound and dynamik that much better. Greetz
Congrats on the upgrade MrMichael. The RS2 is a beast of a sub. Can’t wait for you to experience sub frequencies in the single digits. 😀 I thoroughly enjoy my RF7 III in my 2ch setup but the midrange in the 212HTR is much better, possibly due to its 3-way design and using a dedicated midrange driver. If possible, see if you can find someone local that has a JTR system you can demo. It’s truly a next level experience.
@@Youthman Okay 😅... my wife hates you and your videos cause i know that there is more power, more clarity, better midrange out there 🤣 but now i will have a look to find someone in germany or netherlands who has a JTR system for a demo! Thanks a lot man!
Hello there Michael: You know if i was in your house and saw those speakers and my dad was with me, I would start playing a lot of rock tunes from bands that he likes and he might even save up the cash for a pair of his own. Right now he is running Bose (the current laughing stock of the audio world. I mean they get dunked on ALL THE TIME and yeah I personally think that they are pretty good) and get a pair of them for his setup in the living room as i am preety sure rock would sound amazing thru them and I read in one of your replies that the compression drivers cost $900 and that is the limit you can actually steal from stores in California. Not joking either. You could literally waltz on into a Target, go to the electronics section pick up a PS5, 2 games and an extra controller for like $710 in total and just walk out with the haul for free essentially and it has been causing stores to close early so if you realized that you were out of milk and needed to get some more, you really can't due to that as that is incentivizing that criminal behavior. Hell there has been an instance in the crap-filled city of San Francisco where a dude rolled up on his bicycle at a CVS and just started filling a black garbage bag up with random hair care products and riding on out RIGHT IN FRONT OF TWO security guards who can't stop the thief cause their hands are tied by that law. Alls they coudl do is just shake their heads and put out their hands in disgust.

Sir, all my av receivers are calibrated with Lutron SL 4030 audio meter with C weighting and 50 - 100 db setup with frequency response set at 80 hz for bookshelfs and 60 hz for floor standings. Active bi amp wiring is done for Klipsch reference series RP 600M. Front and rear subs are set to Normal. Sir, i just want to know how can i remove the DELAY caused in multi channel audio track through HDMIi output as there is some delay for nearly 20 M seconds. Is there any delay caused by av receivers of different manufactures or is there any difference in sound processing for each single av unit as i am using RX A 1080, 3060, 3080, 2080 from AVANTAGE series and SR 5013, 7013 from MARANTZ. All set with 1× 4 Kanex pro Splitters with HDMI 2.0 compatibity. When ever changed from Multi channel to STANDARD or ENHANCED Mode, there is difference in delay from Avantage and Marantz. My speakers all set at 6 Ohm with ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE setting off and also CIMEMA DSP HD3 off in YAMAHA. I havent calibrated my system with YPAO as redults are not good and not using XLR terminals for signal. Hybrid log gamma and ARC inactive. Sir, provide some solution to avoid delay as there is mismatching at high Db and it is annoying. Kanex Splitters are sending signal at accurate timing to each avr. Room correction is utmost important for me. Provide some tips. I have measured accurate distance of each channel from listening position with Bosch GLM 40 laser. Hoping some solution from YOUTHMAN. Thanks. KIRANJIT Mob. 7696767674 INDIA.
Most AVR’s have audio delay adjustments within your setup menu. I would try adjusting those. If that doesn’t work, I would contact the manufacturer support to see if they can help you troubleshoot.
@@Youthman Thx Sir, i am big fan of yours. Your videos are very interesting and knowledgeable for home theatre lovers. I never missed a single video of yours on youtube. Everytime, i learn something new from you. Regards.
I have them powered by a Monolith 11X amplifier. An AVR can power 4ohm speakers but a dedicated amplifier will do it better. Keep in mind even an 8ohm nominal (which means average) speaker can dip down to 2ohms with lower frequencies. Speakers do not stay at a specific load while playing music or when watching a movie.
@@Youthman so then you're fine using 4 ohm speakers on a avr , I saw some other video talking about how it can shut off your AV receiver or fry it or damage it internally
What amp were you using to drive those to get this level of performance? I’m considering getting five 210 rm’s for my bed layer but I’m wondering if my Emotiva xpa 7 at 200 watts a channel would do them justice until I can afford the Emotiva dr3 which is 450 watts a channel?

I am upgrading speakers in the next month or two. These are in contention. However, these seem to require MUCH more watts to push vs the 300W 4 Ohm speakers I am looking at. What AMPS do you need to push these minimum... what is the max? I didn't hear what you are using to push them. Thanks!
I'm powering them with my Monolith 11X amp (200 x 3 + 100 x 8) and it sounds fantastic. Of course they can handle up to 2000 watts RMS but I certainly do not feel I need more but will be connecting them to the Emotiva DR3 to see if I can hear any difference with the additional power.
@@Youthman WOW.. ok then... I would have thought this would not have even made these speakers vibrate. Yet you are being rattled like this? This is very important to get out there. Betting many JTR potential customers are shying away and do not know this is a workable solution?? Thanks!
The reason for that is their sensitivity it’s 101 DB with 1 watt. It takes twice as much power to game 3-D be in volume. So if you look at the math… 1 watt = 101dB 2 watts = 103dB 4 watts = 106dB 8 watts = 109dB 16 watts = 112dB 32 watts = 115dB 64 watts = 118dB 128 watts = 121dB 256 watts = 124dB 512 watts = 127dB 1024 watts = 130dB 2048 watts = 133dB I don’t know about you but I really go above 100dB in my theater and that is only for short periods of time. Now there’s nothing wrong with having more power and more headroom. That’s always a good thing but the speakers do not require a 2000 W amplifier for them to reach extreme levels and sound incredible
No difference at all. Only 3dB different in specs but some say Klipsch are not as sensitive as they claim to be. Definitely sensitive though. Monolith 11X drives the 212HTR beautifully.
JTR's seem to be great, a bit out of my price range, particularly when you add shipping to AU. They're also a little too big, if you have a large space and can hide them behind a screen (like your doing) then absoutely perfect. Grats on the end game setup (once you get the matching surrounds and heights that is!). I'd love to hear them, they need an AU distributor : )
I'm curious as to what Youthman does for a living to be able to afford all these stuffs. Someday I might consider getting the JTR's but being based here in Asia shipping + taxes will add about 50% of the actual cost.
I’m glad to answer that. It has taken me 14 years to get my theater room to this level. I spent 23 years as a Youth Pastor (thus Youthman) while owning a business in website development since 2004. Three years ago I began focusing on growing my RUclips channel and was able to grow it from 900 to 75,000 subscribers. In Jan of 2020, I became self employed to focus on my RUclips Channel and my website development business.

Michael, since you have these JTR's in for review and since you really notice their musicality, have you listened to music that has been recorded in Dolby Atmos? Not many services offer music in Atmos but Tidal does. I was at Scott Newby's 2 weeks ago and he was playing some if his SACD music recorded in 5.1. To me it was noticeably different and better than 2 channel played in stereo and in Dolby surround. I started a free trial with Tidal just to listen to music in Atmos since I don't have an SACD player. They have an entire section of music recorded this way. It was awesome, much better that SACD in my opinion. If you can, and while you have the JTR'S setup, you should do a Tidal trial and play some Atmos music selections. I think you'd really like it, unless you've already done this. Lol. Great video by the way. Keep them coming. 😎
Just to throw my 2c in. I’ve had Tidal, Apple and Prime HD for 2 channel music on my Anthem STR pre and power amp with a pair of Revel Salon 2’s. For $12.99 Prime music is by far the best deal. I have not tried Qobuz and that’s a little cheaper yet. Tidal at $19.99 was just a bit too pricy. But take advantage of the free 5 months if they are still running that deal. And then try the 3 month free trial with Prime HD. Another great video 👍 Mike.
"Greatest Showman"... when I first heard about it I said it wasn't my kind of movie... being a musical. After I saw it, well let's just say it will be one of the first movies played on my new theater when it's done, it's fantastic! I would love to hear the JTR, I wonder if anyone in the Austin, TX area has them?
Awesome!! So happy you got your 212 HTRs! Glad your fiend is upgrading that’s great. I have 3 JTR Noesis 212 HT’s behind my screen as well as 2 18” JTR Captivator 1400s. It is fantastic! I just bought the Level 2 Crowson Actutator system (should check those out Youthman) and the Panasonic 9000 uhd player. My next uprgade will be replacing my JBL Pro surrounds to the JTR 110 HT-SLs to have a full JTR system.

For the price of a car I sure hope he was impressed lol. Before ordering Arendal's I looked at these and when I got quoted 8500 USD I said he'll no lol. These would be 11-12K once at my door in Canada thats nuts for just 3 speakers. You probably got a massive discount so makes sense. Are you going to finish the HT with more JTR's?
@@Youthman cool I can't wait to get my Arendal's the towers are on BO but it will be worth it and a massive upgrade I've had my speakers for 6 years all has been updated in the last 2 years was waiting to see what speakers to buy. JTR is overkill for my space and sadly anything with horns make my ears bleed so I decided not to get PSA or I would have got those. 2 years ago Arendal started getting attention and silk dome tweeters with wave guides are my favorite sound signature and the 1723 series seems to be some of the best specs and build out there. You've reviewed their new subwoofer and those impressed you very much when compared to the same category of subwoofer of course and its the same quality as the towers. Only thing I'll need to get is their new heights when released to replace my svs elevations since they will be my weak point. Keep up the great videos.
An impulse is equal magnitude across all frequencies. Most speakers can't do that, so they can't reproduce lifelike percussive impact. But there are a few exceptions that can. :)
The RS2’s replaced the PB16’s about 1 year ago - ruclips.net/video/ikNZuUhjP6w/видео.html As you can see here, I’m flat down to 8Hz with useable output down to 4Hz - ruclips.net/video/CR27rm_G-AA/видео.html It would take 6 or more PB16’s to be comparable.
I'm sure these speakers dominate my klipsch speaker setup. But i think they are the speaker look from the 80's big & bulky. Not very attractive looking at all.
Ever seen commercial cinema speakers? They all look like that. JBL pro, Krix cinema etc Theyre generally hidden behind perforated screens Its for dedicated HT
A guy in the Philippines has a 11x4x6 full JTR setup. It was sent by boat and delivered in a 16 foot box truck lol took 6 guys per speaker to move ahahhah. The video of his setup is crazy I've never seen a HT that well built. So yes they will send them anywhere if you have the means to get them
@youthman I have REALLY been amazed and enjoyed all these videos on the JTRs but I have so many questions! I have tried to call JTR today, but no answer yet. Is there anyone we can talk to about understanding which speakers to use for my set up and understanding the correct power requirements? The power was extremely different from the theater from yesterday and the guy with all the red ones
Whenever I want to give my theater room some tough love my go to films are Interstellar and Inception. There are several scenes in those as well as the score that shake the house.
A Quiet Place is another one. Amazing low end. I couldn't believe it when I played it on mine. Wanted to see how the PB1000 pro would handle it. Was not disappointed :)
My favorite Speakers are Soundstream. They use similar concentric compression horn loaded drivers(DIY). The first time I heard those spider logo speakers-I could not BELIEVE what I was hearing! I kept looking at the speaker again and again! It sounded SO REAL AND PERFECT! Very similar to Klipsch but on a whole other level! JTR might just be on par with Soundstream.
The JTRs must be a very impessive sounding speaker, but in my opinion, there should be blind AB/X testing done to make sure these are better than the La Scarlas. It is scientifically proven that experienceing a new sounding system can trick the brain to make it sound better, but only a blind test can determine if this is true or not. I am not saiyng the JTRs are not better, but I just wanted to offer this opinion to make sure the JTRs would be the correct purchase.
Why would I need to do a blind A/B testing for me to determine what I feel sounds better in my setup. I can tell you I have never liked listening to 2ch in my theater room with the LaScalas and over the past week I have listened to more music on them than I have with the LaScalas in over 6 months. I do not need a “test” to know they are an upgrade for my room and for my ears. I mean let’s face it, do you do a blind A/B test before you upgrade any of your speakers or equipment? Of course you don’t.
Also, during my visit to Wisconsin, I heard three JTR systems and in each system, we listened to demos from A Star is Born. When I came home, I immediately ordered the disc for my own setup and unfortunately was disappointed in what I heard for music in my own setup. Needless to say, I’m no longer disappointed.

Vintage La Scalas need actual stereo electronics for good 2 channel sound. I have experienced this with my Belles and Klipschorns. I have hooked them up to an AVR with external amplifier and they sounded terrible. Once I hooked them up to a 2 channel only setup (cheap stereo receiver) they sound amazing! Don't sell the La Scalas until you hook 2 of them up to a real stereo setup Michael! Those JTRs looks awesome!

If you look at the video where my son and I were removing the LaScalas, you will see three 2x4 on the stage. They were used to angle the LaScalas to where their tweeters were exactly at my listening position using a laser pointer.
I can show you the woofers moving if you like. I’m just not going to play any music. Recently I received my first copyright strike. Re- copyright strikes within 90 days and RUclips delete my account. It’s not worth it to me to lose my channel over a demo.

@@Youthman Thanks very much for the feedback.

I thoroughly enjoy my RF7 III in my 2ch setup but the midrange in the 212HTR is much better, possibly due to its 3-way design and using a dedicated midrange driver.

Hello there Michael:
You know if i was in your house and saw those speakers and my dad was with me, I would start playing a lot of rock tunes from bands that he likes and he might even save up the cash for a pair of his own.
Your relative lack of spelling errors combined with your rambling insane rant reminds me of a 10 year old with straight A’s that has to watch nothing but Fox News when he’s grounded.

Hey Michael,
Question I have where do you set your sub level on your preamp and level on sub control as well?
Usually 1/2 gain on your sub amp before running room correction. It will then set the appropriate level within your preamp
Thanks.

Most AVR’s have audio delay adjustments within your setup menu. I would try adjusting those. If that doesn’t work, I would contact the manufacturer support to see if they can help you troubleshoot.

KEEP THEM COMING
Those jtr 12 are 4 ohm , how you using them with the receivers when there only for 8 ohms?? Wont they break?
I have them powered by a Monolith 11X amplifier. An AVR can power 4ohm speakers but a dedicated amplifier will do it better.
Keep in mind even an 8ohm nominal (which means average) speaker can dip down to 2ohms with lower frequencies. Speakers do not stay at a specific load while playing music or when watching a movie.
@@Youthman so then you're fine using 4 ohm speakers on a avr , I saw some other video talking about how it can shut off your AV receiver or fry it or damage it internally

Hey Youthman, what happened to the rumor about the klipsch beast subwoofer?
I'm guessing it was just a rumor. LOL. I have heard ZERO about it since they announced it on our podcast.
Im on the fence between the JTR's and Krix.
I have never heard Krix so I cannot tell you how they compare. My JTR Captivator RS2 subs are flat in my room down to 8Hz with useable output down to 4Hz.

So if you look at the math…
1 watt = 101dB
2 watts = 103dB
4 watts = 106dB
8 watts = 109dB
16 watts = 112dB
32 watts = 115dB
64 watts = 118dB
128 watts = 121dB
256 watts = 124dB
512 watts = 127dB
1024 watts = 130dB
2048 watts = 133dB
I don’t know about you but I really go above 100dB in my theater and that is only for short periods of time.
Now there’s nothing wrong with having more power and more headroom. That’s always a good thing but the speakers do not require a 2000 W amplifier for them to reach extreme levels and sound incredible
I believe the JTR are less sensitive than your former LCR speakers - how did you find the Monolith 11-channel amp to the JTR? Notice any difference?
No difference at all. Only 3dB different in specs but some say Klipsch are not as sensitive as they claim to be. Definitely sensitive though. Monolith 11X drives the 212HTR beautifully.
@@Youthman fantastic news!!! Exciting times Michael - congratulations and have fun.

Just Incredible. No words. 😊

Thank you. I have a subscription to Qobuz but not Tidal. Might could do the trial just to see
@@Youthman just to listen to music in Atmos unless Quobuz already has music in Atmos.

I kept looking at the speaker again and again! It sounded SO REAL AND PERFECT! Very similar to Klipsch but on a whole other level! JTR might just be on par with Soundstream.
Crazy good bass

Great vid. I cant wait to build my HT .
After watching all these vids , i think JTR will be my choice.
I just hope jeff can export to Australia lol
Are you gonna be an audiophiliac....because of your surround...😕😋
Good video
get these over to amir or erins would be good to see the measurements of these speakers.
I bet Chicago v would sound awesome the JTR's
Michael, a demo material for you. You should check out the movie called Overlord. The first 15-20 min of it is great. Something to break in your JTRs even more hahaha. Let me know when you do.
Thanks Porfy. I haven’t seen Overlord yet
@@Youthman you’re welcome. It’s a good twist on a WW2 action flick.
Klipsch r overrated
Same could be said of any brand. We all have to figure out what brand works best for our preference and budget. I’m grateful we have so many options.
@@Youthman Well said.
Yeah that Monster Hunter is apparently a pants movie, but I heard the soundtrack digs deep.
A pants movie? Haven’t heard that phrase before.
I thought it was pretty good but take my opinion with a grain of salt because I'm big into monster hunter so just seeing the monsters in a movie made me more excited than I probably should have been XD
@@Youthman Thanks for the reply Michael.. I’m in the U.K so yeah.. pants = 👎🏻 now I haven’t seen it but heard it wasn’t a great show but the soundtrack is..
Thanks for the explanation of pants movie. Love learning new things.
@@Youthman you’re welcome brother.. it’s thanks to you I have my wee home theatre.. (in my living room) Klipsch RF7 v3, RC 64 v3, RP 600M rear surrounds, a SPL 150 sub & a Denon X8500H. To me it sounds incredible, can’t imagine what JTR’s sound like tbh? But I know I’d like.
Keep up the good work Michael & God bless 🙏🏻.
You need to paint that redwood matt back ✨✨✨😎😎😎✨✨✨
Not happening
JTR are total end game speakers! 🤪 The klipsch is the difference from Decent stuff to O my God! 🤯😎
You've got to take into consideration those La Scala's were from the last century. Having owned a pair I can tell you it's a fantastic sound for-the-buck. Anyone who has heard a 3 La Scala setup will tell you it's pretty dang good.
Absolutely. The LaScalas sound great, especially for being 41 years older. But the 212HTR and other JTR towers I’ve heard are an improvement.
@youthman
Hello
@@Youthman I was wondering if you would consider testing the bic-pl300 it's a 350w rms 1200max bash amped sub from bic america.. but it claims to hit 15hz and shares some very similar characteristics with HSU subs for less.. and 8 year warranty on woofer 5years amp.. make this an amazing offering.. if it's not total trash.. and youthman.. no one has reviewed this this yet
Hi, I do not have plans to review BIC in the near future.
@@Youthman dang.. you do the best reviews.. the bic if it's half what it claims would truly be a poor man's theater sub..
@@Youthman I figured the bic +that DSP-LF from dayton audio to smooth it's response and clean the room up.. could be a leather budget option.. I know you lean more to the higher end stuff.. the stuff of dreams lol.. I envy you..
Prepare ur subs Guys For Kong vs Godzilla
You mess with torrents I get all my movies in 4k x265 with dolby atmos for free
If you don’t mind it being illegal, you do you. I’ll stick with purchasing content.
@@Youthman torrents get content 1st b4 disc or digital sale release Usually but don't know how they do it
@@BIGBASSSAMA_4 and what - are you proud of stealing?
I’m ok not getting bootleg copies first. I personally would rather support film makers so we can continue to enjoy movies
@@Wyzwanie90dniPL I watch one piece there's a hint
Nelson still rockin the Ecko, my man.
Youthman, this video feels somewhat uncomfortable to watch because it almost seems like your friend doesn't want to be there. I am sure he's a great guy and super laidback and chilled, but his body language deceived the viewers!!!!
If you find the video is uncomfortable to watch, you don’t have to watch it. 😉
@@Youthman hahaha but I still watched the entire video because let’s just say I am a loyal subscriber
🤣🤣🤣
@@hammertimee777 sorry for making you uncomfortable with the first time doing this wasn't taught how to do it and I also have to admit I was a little nervous and tired but I'm learning from the comments that I'm reading on here for the next time I do a video with Michael
@@beastscinema3964 i totally understand what you mean. I have the Rf-7 iii and RC-64 iii that I just bought about a couple months ago. I can’t wait to see your reviews on the JTR. Eventually when I get a new house I’ll do JTR for sure.
Bla bla bla bla bla demo 🤷🏻♂️
Bla bla bla bla just received a copyright strike last month for doing a demo. I’m not risking my business over an audio demo that over 50% of viewers will listen to from their mobile devices. But thank you for your unsolicited advice. 🤣
@@Youthman way to handle that clown!
Nice setup enjoy. Nelson seems looks like a dead beat sitting there he needs a little more enthusiasm
Dead beat? For the record Nelson works seven days a week Night Shift to support his family. He had just gotten off his shift and came straight over to hear the JTR speakers since he ordered the same ones and was excited. Not sure how being sleepy makes one a dead beat.
@@Youthman sorry I didn’t mean anything hurtful or insulting. It’s just that he was slouching and didn’t speak with any enthusiasm like he didn’t want to really do the video with you. I again apologize. I love your channel.
No worries Frank. Many people have commented the same thing. Honestly I was looking at the camera most of the time so I could not see his body language. I forgot he had worked all night. His wife thought he was crazy for coming over before he got some sleep but he was just excited to hear them
@@Youthman Again I’m sorry and I shouldn’t have made that comment without knowing the facts. My apologies.
Absolutely no worries. Thank you kindly
Is Nelson stoned?
No he just got off working a 12 hour shift and decided to come over to hear the 212 HTR’s since he just recently ordered them. That’s why later on in the video he kept getting lower and lower LOL
