This is the first Goo Goo Dolls song I ever heard when I was 12. I used to send them hand written letters as a girl and my husband makes fun of me to this day.
I fell in love with their timeless sound and the lyrics spoke to me growing up. Every big moment or special person in my life is connected to a Goo Goo Dolls song.
I have always dreamt of seeing them live but was never in a position financially to get to the countries or cities they would perform and then when I was a bit older and able to afford it I had children and life happened.
I’m 35 now and my husband surprised me with tickets for the last leg in September (2 days before my bday) because he knows they’re my favorite band. Being the huge fan girl I am, I wouldn’t be surprised if I fainted when they start kicking off the first tune. I am over the moon excited and feel so extremely fortunate and blessed. My dream is going to be a reality this year ❤️

Good for you! Music is an inspiration. I've seen them twice. Never in their real heydey of maybe 93-2000. Back when they had a youthful and almost punk exuberance. I like them now but those were the days. Enjoy and I hope they live up to your expectations

This makes me happy. I was the sensitive teenage guy in school and there music really resonated with me. I was able to see them about 3 years ago just before COVID happend had great seats and it was amazing. Played lots of old tunes as well as new. Really grateful I was able to go.

wysoft I think this album went 4 times platinum if I'm not mistaken. Ik dizzy up the girl went like more than 7 x platinum, and gutterflower I think went 5 times platinum. And let love in I think went 2 times platinum. As for something for the rest of us that went gold, magnetic went gold.

This song already would've been an all timer, but that last verse before the final chorus just elevated it to God tier. "Inside your head, no one's there, and I dont think I'll ever be...and I dont care." This has always been an uplifting song to me, but that part in particular feels almost like talking to someone whos expecting a certain version of you or others in their head. But it just that, a version in their imagination. Saying im never gonna be that person you're expecting me to be in your head, but i dont care😁 I know John's one of those writers who intentionally wants people to be able to relate their own healing and experiences to the songs, and this one always just felt like an uplifting reminder to be 100% you, not living to be the imaginary "perfect" version someone else wanted you to be. You're naked inside your fear, so dont be afraid. Perfection❤👑
God I love this song so damn much!!! It brings me back to a dark time in my life and it makes me feel the pain from all the fucked up shit I've been through and reminds me of all my fears. But it also helps me mend all that pain and fear into strength and into bravery. This song is my life. The Goo Goo Dolls are life! Wish more people my age were into this kind of music. I'm 18 :/

the 90s were the golden age of music videos. in the 80s they were just so young and new and had yet to be perfected. by the 2000s, they became blah and today they're either too over the top or too cheap and lack effort. the 90s was the perfect decade for the art of the music video.

Awesome song! One of the songs that made me a fan of the goos. Almost all their older albums were classics. Superstar car wash, boy name goo and dizzy up the girl were classics. Almost every single songs in those albums were great. All other albums, I like a couple songs here and there. The goo’s been grinding since forever and still going with new material! One of my fav band of all time.

This song blows me away every time.
From the band's humble beginnings practicing in a broken down warehouse next to a space heater - all the way to the top of the charts there lies something in between and that something is this song. The song "Naked" is in and of itself what it claims to be. The song and the video touch on many lucid but yet striking subject matter that is both thought provoking and haunting all at the same time. This song sits right in between that Seattle and LA. Nirvana but a little more mainstream.

Saw these guys in 1995 at the Shabang festival in Oshkosh, Wis., a one-time fest that failed and gave way to the current Country USA the following year.
The Goo Goos led off with this, and it was in a driving rainstorm, so Johnny changed the opening line to “Yeah, it’s rainin’ …” and the crowd went nuts. Great memories.

Wow. This album came out when I was 0 years old. I’ve been listening ever since. I remember consciously hearing this whole album right around 2000 when I was 5. Still listening now as a 27 year old man.

One of the few bands to survive my music taste changes over the decades. The Goo Goo Dolls just never get old, it’s all basic structure-wise, but the melody writing is so consistently good that it never gets old. Pretty damn timeless if you ask me, BUT i have to say, the recent albums have done the opposite and sound like extremely dated 2010’s pop music, which makes me kind of sad.
John is an underrated guitarist. This song has one of my all time fav guitar solos.
