Unlike previous animal crossing games, the characters in this one won't move without your permission so you have to check the characters you want to move every day to see if they have a thought bubble over their heads and if they do have one, talking to them should show the "move" option and that's how they leave!

They actually run to you/call your name if they wanna give/sell you something or teach you a reaction. The thought bubbles appear when they wanna give you a new nickname, they want a new catchphrase/greeting, or when they're thinking of moving out

Don’t talk to the villagers you’re trying to get rid of, talk to everyone else a lot and they should eventually want to leave. That’s what worked for me.
Also because they’re right next to each other there’s a chance they’re occasionally triggering interactions with each other! Move them farther apart and out of the way and they should pack up soon
YO SO the "quarantine ur villagers and theyll move away" bit is totally not real. The algorithm of the game LITERALLY requires you to build your friendship with each villager to a certain level/tier before they ask to move out. The best and fastest way to make them move is to talk to them as much as you talk to the rest of your villagers and hope for the best.

Your villagers have to ask your permission to leave. So trapping them and not talking to them doesn’t work. Also the Nintendo internet thing is like $20 a year which I use to visit other people and shop at their nooks crazy and able sisters to get different stuff. I’ve only been playing for a month.

Also I just got a switch a couple weeks ago and just started Animal Crossing so i'm not even on like design your island level yet but I get very excited seeing other people's islands like this
Your villagers have to ask your permission to leave. So trapping them and not talking to them doesn’t work. Also the Nintendo internet thing is like $20 a year which I use to visit other people and shop at their nooks crazy and able sisters to get different stuff. I’ve only been playing for a month.
