PSA: You can do a similar method when doing mass outbreaks. Sometimes you’ll notice if you drive into the outbreak too fast you will only see a few Pokémon but if you approach slowly or pan your camera slowly a bunch will spawn all around you. 73 shinies and counting, this method is effective.
You can also hunt for Iron Valiant in the other massive cave system where research area 4 is. They only show up if you have a fairy encounter power as well, so I recommend the sparkling fairy level 3 + fairy encounter power level 3. They will legit be EVERYWHERE in the cave, its kind of nuts. I found that way more spawn in this cave system than the one shown in the video where you can actually find them normally
So my brother and I were co op paradox hunting in area zero, so we could get the opposite version paradoxes. So this method, specifically the auto battle variant, may be very helpful in smaller areas, such as the various cave systems.
Heya, how do you manage to get into the others area zero? I tried to go into co op with my friend (who has violet), but we couldn't manage to get into one area zero together. We were still in one union circle, but each person was inside their own area zero, only getting the paradox mons from their respective game
Enter a union circle, the. Both go into area zero at the same time. As long as you two stay together, you will get each other’s spawns. Keep in mind you will not be able to see other players in area zero so you need to be coordinated. But it’s more than possible.
People probably already pointed this out, but if you're going for Iron Valliant, you can just head down to the underground cavern, the one that goes down to the lab encased in crystals. As long as you stay out of the very bottom where there's water (where it spawns Glimorra and Golduck I think), you will only and exclusively encounter Iron Valliant. Whether the fact that the area around you is less open than the cave in the video is better or worse is up to debate though

Shiny Slither Wing is literally going to be my next hunt, I didn't even know people were having trouble hunting it lol. Once again, your videos come through in the nick of time.
Slither Wing is deceptively easy appearing because it spawns just about everywhere green in Area Zero, but yeah. A lot of people just keep running or sprinting. I see it all the time on hunting streams.

Something I learned about Iron Valiant (idk if Roaring Moon works similarly) but Area 4 (last Research station) also spawns Iron Valiant. Using a Fairy Encounter/Sparkling sandwich, the process is pretty fast and easy like Iron Bundle is.
I saw a clip from a JP twitter user who spawned them on top of one of the crystals and they could spawn/despawn all of them within seconds. I already got mine but that would be my place to go to now.
I actually did this for Eevee outside of the bug town/soccer field! I found where the spawner was for the mass outbreak, walked up a hill to despawn farther away pokemon and used let’s go to knock out other spawns nearby. I would get around 12-15 eevee spawns and run into town to reset fully. the trickiest part was getting the right distance away from Eevee to guarantee i would spawn more when i knocked something out using let’s go.
Iron valiant is MUCH easier to hunt in the crystal caves. Pop the fairy encounter sandwich and head into the caves from base #3 all the way down to the water at the bottom. It’ll show up there despite not being in the normal encounter pool.
Can confirm this works since I got 2 shiny iron valiants from doing this in the cave yesterday, its way easier indeed since nothing but iron valiant will spawn if you look in the right places while using a sandwich.
This, as always, is incredibly helpful. I did the running around in big circles method and it took me 3 full hours to find Roaring Moon... I found 2 shiny Pawmi, and 4 Zweilous though lmao
i just go around that cliff bit in the cave where you can see the whole circle thing and then jump off and I see like seven more iron valiant i haven't gotten a shiny yet though (bc i have pokemon violet)
After watching this, I used this method to find a shiny Heracross in 4 minutes. If you keep to the cliff's edge northwest of the groundblight shrine and pace back and forth then it works extremely similarly to Austin's method for Slither Wing except there are no pack spawns to worry about, so you can move fast. Keeping to the cliff's edge makes the camera work simple. I was spawning well over 100 per minute.
I just arrived in Area Zero these days and I've now finished the story (it was a fantastice finale). When I first saw all the Paradox Pokemon, I knew I need the Shinies. Thanks for the helpful tips! By the way, talking about Raichu: I got a full odds Shiny about 10~15 minutes after my first arrival in Area Zero. That was a nice way to welcome me there :)
just did this tonight and got 2 shiny valiants in 30 minutes! Austin out here giving us all the best shiny hunting methods, this man is amazing! ty Austin for all that you do :D
Awesome video it really does work quite well. I was able to reliably get several Roaring Moons to keep spawning instead of occasionally getting some to spawn here and there. I wouldn't have ever thought to do this and probably would still be shiny hunting Roaring Moon currently. I tried two times without this trick with no luck, but I tried it with this trick twice and got it the second time. I also had enough time to shiny hunt the other dragons in the cave and got myself a shiny Zweilous and a shiny Gible. Quite a fruitful harvest from that sparkling dragon sandwich thanks to you.
Friendly reminder: Be VERY careful not to run away from pokemon you want to catch while in coop. I ran away from a shiny indeedee cause I forgot to save while in local coop, and she despawned. I don't know if saving before the shiny will keep it there if you reload from a coop game. Coop may be faster numbers, but the likelihood of failing the shiny also increases if you're used to running from them to save.
i dont know if youll see this but i have a long travel from the UK to Australia next week and thanks to your videos im gonna be able to shiny hunt basically the entire time. Thanks for all you do.
Always love your content. If I ever wanna learn anything about these games, it’s straight to you! Thank you! On a side note, I think an All Cave Entrance guide would be SO helpful. There are some outbreaks I can’t find and I believe they are in caves, but can’t figure it out!
Fun fact: If you use a Fairy sandwich for Iron Valiant, you can just go to Zone 4 and have a 100% spawn rate for Iron Valiant. It's spawn conditions is cave, but it turns out it doesn't have to be specifically the one you get it in normally if you're using the Encounter Power.
I ran around in that cave last weekend because a friend tipped me off to the increased Chansey spawns in there and I got two accidental shinies while grinding. And now there's a video about just that area. Neat! Also, as a Violet player, let me just say how much I love Slither Wing's design. They look so much more appealing swarming the area than all the Iron Hands I've been getting. Though Iron Hands has certainly been amazing in raids.
Love your channel Austin. You make getting shinys look so easy lol. Despite playing every Gen of Pokémon, I’ve never completed a Dex and just got into competitive and shinys last Gen. I’m on day 3 of trying to hatch a shiny starter using a Masuda Ditto no shiny charm and no luck so far but watching ur channel gives me hope 😅 lol
Keep it up with the Masuda hunting, did that recently and it took me a week for that shiny cat. It's always a lot of fun to see the shiny finally appear after a lot of hard work.
@@myst2947 ur right and I’m looking forward to tht moment. I’m actually glad u said it took u a week lol most stories I hear of ppl getting them faster in this game than ever before so I’m glad I’m not the only one lol. Thanks I’ll def keep going
Highly advise doing dragon sandwich if hunting Roaring Moon. If you use dark sandwich you’ll get tons of Sneasel and Sableye appearing on top of Zwelious and Roaring Moon. And the Sableye are small, annoying & like to chase you
@@jameswilliams8916 I finally found out that it was cause i was using the mix of "Sweet+Sweet, Sweet+Sour, and Sour+Sour" sandwiches. apparently encounter power don't work with those shiny sandwiches.
Im currently 13 shiny sandwiches and 9 shinies into my roaring moon hunt while ive been running around like crazy and losing my mind. Thank you for the method, I now have a glimmer of hope
There is a spot in the deep layer of the Area Zero where Iron Valiant, Iron Wheel, Iron Juggulus, Iron Bundle and Iron Hands is incredibly easy to spawn and get as shiny which makes the ruins in violet much more useless since there are no pack spawns in your way while you reset encounters
Tip for anyone going for Iron Valiant: it’s much easier to take a Fairy sandwich and start at the bottom of Base 4 going up until the entrance of the cavern. It has much better spawn rates than the original cave, no other pokes and this exact trick works for Iron Hands using an electric sandwich as well.
I know that quick balls are op, but I really like matching shinies to the ball they're in. Would it be easier to breed for a shiny in an apricorn ball or reset? Does the shiny stay if you save and reload even if you find them via sandwich spawn methods? I'm currently breeding for a shiny salamance in a friend ball 💚🧡
From what I’ve done, a shiny will remain there if you save in front of it & close the game. I’ve done this so that I can catch some shiny Pokémon in specific Apricorn balls. If I use up the ball, I just turn my game off & back on, & the shiny Pokémon will appear again in the same spot.
Nall nailed it, but just a heads up to anybody just trying this out. You should turn off autosave and manually save before starting the fight. In the event you need to restart, you lose the remainder of what was on your sandwich power, but one sandwich for one shiny is still good.
I'll definitely be trying this out, especially for roaring moon! I want my violet friend to be able to catch one too, but im considering just sending them off to explore the rest of area zero while i hunt and then call them over to grab it once it shows up since it would most likely make her own mons show up and just be a bit of a mess in terms of amount of different exclusive mons.
If you find one you could just save in front of it, and close your game any time after they enter battle. Then the party will disband and you can reload in front of the shiny and catch it too.
This was an awesome guide! Thanks. It really is about controlling the pack spawns for these pokes. I got a roaring moon on my second sandwich, and a random houndstone right after I caught it. Slither wing I got on my first sammy. XD
This tech can probably work for a lot of the more rare spawns that are usually near a bunch of pack spawns, like how Eevee spawns near a bunch of Meowth/Persian packs
When I was shiny hunting Sandy Shocks, I made a some of the same observations: 15 Pokemon appear in your given space and using Quick Battles helps despawn and respawn Pokemon in quickly. Eliminating pack spawns quickly was very helpful.
Went into the cave for iron valiant & used sandwich 81 for the fighting Lv2 buff. Caught 3 shiny iron valiants with my first sandwich use. I do have the shiny charm. Do everything the video says in terms of movement and this is literally a breeze. This was easier than tracking down a roaming legendary in older games.
I ended up basically doing this for Roaring Moon after many attempts otherwise, glad you've put a lot of thought into it and put it out there. This will help even me as I keep searching for marked Paras.
You can also encounter Iron Valiant in the big cave system of Area 0 with the terra crystals (idk if Roaring Moon is also gonna be there), if you have Fairy encounter on. So that hunt is also relatively easy too! I got mine yesterday. :)
I 100% agree with what another commenter said the other day that you are the real-life Pokémon Professor. This video also explains how I got extremely lucky to get my shiny Roaring Moon on my first try. I always do shiny hunting slow-and-steady because I don’t want to accidentally despawn one. But, now I know that going fast is perfect for pack spawns. Thanks!!
Thanks ! It worked like freaking works ! I just use this method, just found 2 shinies. 1 Zweilous , 1 Roaring Moon. This method is the best possible method to shiny hunt roaring moon. Thanks a lot !
I rarely comment. But I want to thank you sir. I have been trying for 2 months to get a shiny Roaring Moon. I have tried running around, clearing pokemon, slowly running in wide circles and no shiny after 10 sandwiches. I managed to get a shiny sneasel, 2 gibles and a random pawmi. Your method paired with slowly clearing out Zweilouses, made more Roaring Moons spawn. I got it in 4 minutes after following your method. Thank you so much sir!
I don’t think I’ll use this method during the entire hunt, but I did find a way to do it a little more efficiently if you don’t want to tip-toe around despawn borders like I do (and have OCD about your Pokémon’s levels and don’t want to auto battle) I found that if you do a circle around where the points of the ‘diamond’ in the center of the 4 circles is (with a little variation if one Pokémon is just slightly not on the border yet) you’ll consistently despawn 1-2 Zweilous/Roaring Moon at a time once you’ve isolated them from other spawns. It’s like herding sheep, except stragglers get snapped out of existence lol
I know a lot of people complain about how easy the shinies are to get, but I've honestly had so much more fun with shiny hunting in this. It still feels just as exciting to me to find the shinies. And yeah, they aren't as difficult to get, but it still took me like a month to actually complete the Pokedex on both Scarlet and Violet and then it took me 3 hours to trade over all the version exclusives to and froe. As well as since I have to get two herba mysticas every time I want to shiny hunt a Pokemon, so it isn't like I still didn't have to put forth tons of effort into getting the shinies. The end result just comes about quicker, which if you have a job like me, you really appreciate, because when you play a game, you don't want to it to be literal months of grinding. The time I have off I want to be as much fun as possible not make me question why I am even playing the game as opposed to doing something more fun. I am glad you still have to put forth effort in shiny hunting, but not to the extent we did in previous games. It took me a literal year to get a shiny on one of the older games. A fooking year- I am not exaggerating. And I am not even factoring in the amount of time it took me to get the shiny charm.
Although this came out after I got two Shiny Iron Valiants, including one Shiny Marked Iron Valiant, this will be useful for my future shiny hunts, including Roaring Moon itself.
Pro tip: Your Let’s go mon will NOT fight against a shiny. It’ll do the “scared animation” where sweat icon shows up on it even if the level of the shiny is way below your let’s go mon’s level.
Thanks Austin! I was having trouble hunting Steenee between Artazon and Levincia with a grass sandwich, and was having some issues with Skiploom being a pack spawn, this method really helped, found my shiny in only a few minutes doing this!
I’ve tried doing this a few times and it seems like how aggro the Pokémon are is making this difficult, I feel like I’m spending more time trying to get away from Pokémon chasing me then I am trying to look for the shiny, having to dodge Pokémon is also making me despawn Pokémon that I’m not having the time to check
I was really struggling to find a shiny talonflame in area 0 and each time a run proved to be unsuccessful I grew more and more frustrated and impatient which lead to frantically speeding around like a speed demon. After watching this I decided to give it a try and with one run I found not 1 but 2 shiny talonflames! Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks for the video in addition to slow walk I auto battle to clear the area while walking and got a Shiny Roaring Moon with a Radiant Mark. I still need to complete my pokedex for the shiny charm.
you probably wont see this but a way to tell if a throw is a crit catch, when u throw the ball, if it curves at the beggining, its a crit catch. It was worked 100% of the time for me im not sure for others however
this is very helpful tbh, did 2 trial runs for roaring moon so far and I noticed the more pack spawn and less others too, so now I can avoid them, thx a lot
me and a friend found that if you have someone set up a picknick while in a union circle with your pack spawns wont happen nearly as less and you'll still get the majority of spawns, youll still get less spawns overall but way more roaring moons

As someone who found a shiny Sableye when I already had one while looking for a shiny Roaring Moon, I very much needed this.
Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you put into these games. Everything you do helps me enjoy these games that much more. Keep it up!
literally caught my first roaring moon last night after hours of struggle… great timing on this one LMAO crying in a corner at work
Do you want to trade a shiny roaring moon for my shiny iron valiant??
Bro I spent 60 hours I hunted it from start of the game to a week ago and of course now a easier method has been found out

Yes I did, I'm still missing the Paradox pokemon from scarlet though

Your isolated encounter guides are the best!
You are very quickly becoming my favourite gaming content creator. Precise, to the point, articulate and always knowledgeable about your content!
This, as always, is incredibly helpful. I did the running around in big circles method and it took me 3 full hours to find Roaring Moon... I found 2 shiny Pawmi, and 4 Zweilous though lmao
Do you want to trade a shiny roaring moon for my shiny iron valiant?
i just go around that cliff bit in the cave where you can see the whole circle thing and then jump off and I see like seven more iron valiant i haven't gotten a shiny yet though (bc i have pokemon violet)
I was about to start my roaring moon hunt when this video came up. Thanks Austin, you're a lifesaver!
Do you want to trade a shiny roaring moon for my shiny iron valiant?
After watching this, I used this method to find a shiny Heracross in 4 minutes. If you keep to the cliff's edge northwest of the groundblight shrine and pace back and forth then it works extremely similarly to Austin's method for Slither Wing except there are no pack spawns to worry about, so you can move fast. Keeping to the cliff's edge makes the camera work simple. I was spawning well over 100 per minute.
just in time after getting my shiny charm, thanks for all the work you do!

What kind of sandwich did you use
I'd love to see tips on how to shiny hunt group spawns and pokémon on the water. Like Finizen for exemple
Brilliant work as usual, my dude. I'm looking forward to the nest installment of the isolated encounters.
Thanks to this video I got on my second try doing this method. Still somewhat hard to find but much more easy doing this than resetting entire spawns.
I got this strategy to work extremely well with Iron Thorns in pokemon violet, i managed to get 3 shinies in 30 minutes, thanks for the tips Austin!
4:58 when I saw you run by the shiny,I actually thought it was gonna be a shiny fail lol
Keep it up im personally hoping for quaxly cuz I’m over 2500 eggs for it
Thanks!
Highly advise doing dragon sandwich if hunting Roaring Moon. If you use dark sandwich you’ll get tons of Sneasel and Sableye appearing on top of Zwelious and Roaring Moon. And the Sableye are small, annoying & like to chase you
Instructions unclear. I did Dragon sandwich and got hella Lycanroc, Dugtrio, and Flutter Mane for some reason...
@jameswilliams8916 this one exactly!
@@DraconicHero I did get it, but I've forgotten which sandwich I used. 😅
@@jameswilliams8916 I finally found out that it was cause i was using the mix of "Sweet+Sweet, Sweet+Sour, and Sour+Sour" sandwiches. apparently encounter power don't work with those shiny sandwiches.
@DraconicHero oh yeah! I think that was it. I was trying to save a Salty Herbs. You can't do that with Dragon encounter.
Im currently 13 shiny sandwiches and 9 shinies into my roaring moon hunt while ive been running around like crazy and losing my mind. Thank you for the method, I now have a glimmer of hope
As always: doing Arceus' work Austin John!
0:54 what happened to the little guitar song 😢
Austin: **Recording a video**
A random shiny popping up when he’s speaking: *Hola I now live in your boxes*
There is a spot in the deep layer of the Area Zero where Iron Valiant, Iron Wheel, Iron Juggulus, Iron Bundle and Iron Hands is incredibly easy to spawn and get as shiny which makes the ruins in violet much more useless since there are no pack spawns in your way while you reset encounters
Where is that spot? Is there any video showing that location?
@@Jaimesb the crystal cave system between research station No. 3 and research station No. 4
Um, I don't think this is how you pronounce Zweilous 1:11
This was an awesome guide! Thanks. It really is about controlling the pack spawns for these pokes. I got a roaring moon on my second sandwich, and a random houndstone right after I caught it. Slither wing I got on my first sammy. XD

PSA: you can farm iron valiant the same route you did iron hands, way better than that cave room you use
0:37 how do I get to that place?
This tech can probably work for a lot of the more rare spawns that are usually near a bunch of pack spawns, like how Eevee spawns near a bunch of Meowth/Persian packs
So shiny roaring moon is just regular ho oh?
When I was shiny hunting Sandy Shocks, I made a some of the same observations: 15 Pokemon appear in your given space and using Quick Battles helps despawn and respawn Pokemon in quickly. Eliminating pack spawns quickly was very helpful.
I got two shiny iron valiant an hour before this video came out and it took me so many herba mystica
iron valiant spawns everywhere in area 0 near the end in the cave if you have encounter fairy
Do you want to trade a shiny roaring moon for my shiny iron valiant?

Fantastic video! I stumbled upon this the other day after noticing Pokémon spawn in behind me when shiny hunting
If I have to go through all of this for a single Shiny Roaring Moon and it spawns in a wall this TV is getting thrown out the window!
Thanks for the tips, I was actually able to catch a shiny roaring moon in my game
I don’t think I’ll use this method during the entire hunt, but I did find a way to do it a little more efficiently if you don’t want to tip-toe around despawn borders like I do (and have OCD about your Pokémon’s levels and don’t want to auto battle)
I found that if you do a circle around where the points of the ‘diamond’ in the center of the 4 circles is (with a little variation if one Pokémon is just slightly not on the border yet) you’ll consistently despawn 1-2 Zweilous/Roaring Moon at a time once you’ve isolated them from other spawns. It’s like herding sheep, except stragglers get snapped out of existence lol
Austin’s literally the best, finally got my Slither Wing doing this with a Lv. 2 recipe
It was worked 100% of the time for me im not sure for others however
I just got 4 shinies in 1 sandwich. It works, mate
Thank you! Very well explained! Took me a minute to control the spawns, but got a shiny Roaring Moon within 5 minutes!
this is very helpful tbh, did 2 trial runs for roaring moon so far and I noticed the more pack spawn and less others too, so now I can avoid them, thx a lot
Started using this for mass outbreaks without sandwiches/no good picnic spots and it works really well.
Great video! Would love to see one on mons like tandemaus and other non-isolated ones that are pretty hard to get shiny fors
This method worked. I finally got a shiny Roaring Moon yesterday. Thank you, Austin!
Thank you Austin with your videos you make shiny hunts much easier
me and a friend found that if you have someone set up a picknick while in a union circle with your pack spawns wont happen nearly as less and you'll still get the majority of spawns, youll still get less spawns overall but way more roaring moons
