finally someone who looks like they know what theyre doing, this should be the no1 video for this on youtube. I had to sort through so much other bad advice from other videos before landing on this one.

Today a gym instructor who never saw enough snow and surely didn’t do a cross country skiing told me that I do it wrong and then showed me the “correct” way with a lot of squatting and bending. 😄 so, I decided to find a RUclips video uploaded by skiers just to double check if my technique became so bad and I forgot how to ski. Apparently I still have it and do it right. I miss the snow though. Cheers from Scotland!

"Tighten your core like someone is punching you in the stomach" That right there is some of the best skierg instructional on utube by far.
    Thanks for the excellent clip.

Really found this useful. Thanks. Interesting that the 'bad' technique demo is pretty much what Concept2 recommend on their own technique video. Way too much knee bend. More SkiErg vids please!

Thanks so much for the video. As a cross country skier this instruction is precisely what I’m looking for to help maintain my skills during the off season and to add a new dimension to my general fitness program. Your use of memorable, highly visual instructions for proper form is superb-I’ll be looking for other videos from you as well.

Great exercise and correct technique! I used to use the C2 rower, but have a hernia. I like this better, and have already seen tremendous results in just a few months....abs being one. An inch off and much firmer. I try to do 3K daily with sprint intervals on alternating days.

Been researching Ski Ergs, and this is by far the BEST video out there on (apparently) proper use. What a difference (in a good way) from every other technique shown in those other videos., including those on the Concept2 website. This makes me want to buy one..the other videos candidly intimidated the heck out of me as it looks like people are torturing themselves in unnatural ways. This instructor's form is so much more like actual skiing than anyone else's.

Pretty much the only video on RUclips showing correct technique for the skierg. There are tons of terrible vids from crossfit bros though.

hi. I am new to SkiErg, love it. I use it for a week now. I keep the pace 30-40 spm on lower damper setting around 3! Pace is 2:20 /500 m. Heard about the drag. How shall I keep the drag? I am ca 100 kg. My goal is more training for nordic ski and cardio, burning fat than getting into racing. Thanks

Very nice technique video. Painful to watch many of the “technique” videos on RUclips. Is that an altitude simulation chamber in the back?

Hello. I watched this video and read some of the comments about bad advice given on other websites. I think that there is a basic misunderstanding in that this video is specifically aimed at skiers while most people who use the ski erg are not skiers and use it for fitness training; Their technique is therefore to get the best workout from the Ski erg (muscles, cardio, watts) rather than to mimic the exact movement of a cross country skier.

This is the best technique to produce most power, reduce injury and get the most out the machine. It’s the same idea with rowing with good technique unlike 99% of cross fitters who are just going as hard as they can with poor technique

  • @Fuzzball

This is Skierg technique for skiers - not for fitness. The knee bend that is usually taught is safe - it’s low impact and not that different from your walking heel strike.

Lol cross country skiers are the fittest people on the planet - highest VO2 max of any other athlete so I’m pretty sure her technique is perfect

Oddly enough, what this woman claims is the incorrect technique first is what the company that makes the SkiErg recommends you do. Lol
