- How to restore this kitchen knife? I found this old cleaver stored in an old drawer, it is an old butcher's ax or also called a meat axe, this old manual tool was used for butchering meat. Restoring the old blade involved removing rust, repairing broken parts, filing, sanding, polishing, and making a new Anchico Colorado handle, among other things. How to restore this rusty knife? The knife was very rusty so I used anti-rust lubricant, rust remover and brushed it with wire brushes to remove the rough. I used a bath of rust remover (acid), to remove the remaining rust. Then I repaired the missing part of the blade by welding a new piece of metal, worked the metal sheet with the angle grinder, and since i wanted to give it a more modern personal touch, i decided to change the format of the blade of the knife, after filing and sanding by hand the blade, I made the bronze rivets of some old keys that I had saved for this purpose, along with that and some pieces of Anchico wood that I got at a nearby sawmill, I made the wooden magician, diy. Now all that was left was to put it all together and glue it together with epoxy adhesive, and just like that, this old rusty blade was restored and transformed into a shiny new cleaver.
My tools used for this restoration videos: Anti-Rust Lubricating Spray, Wire Brushes, Rust Remover (Acid), Magnetic Stirrer, Hacksaw, Pencil, Ruler, Gauge, Drill, Angle Grinder, Sandpaper, Files, Whetstone, Woodworking Tools , Epoxy Adhesive and Teak Oil, and my workshop.
