    Cool idea, but I really prefer to watch smiths actually forge out the blades rather than cut and grind the shape, 3/10 looks good, though.

    Hi! First of all, your knives are amazing! I really want to support your work, so as a graphic designer myself, I recommend that you work with a professional graphic designer on your logo. The current logo doesn't translate well onto metal surfaces like the knife. It seems it was designed with paper-based media in mind, which is why it's not quite effective on metallic surfaces. That´s all I have to say. I love what you do. 😊

    • @JPsBladeworks
      @JPsBladeworks  22 дня назад +1

      You can weaken them. Depending on how theyre located. His holes serve to lighten and bring the balancepoint more center, but not weaken the tang. Stay behind the ricasso and forward most pin and it wont matter. Any weakness in the tang is negated by handle material. Sharp angles in the ricasso can produce stress risers that weaken the tang. JP early on had an issue over pressing steal. But he seems to have worked through that issue. JP has come a long way in his craft.

      None of my stick tang puukko knives have broken in normal use or even battoning. Axe is much better tool for chopping and I would use knife as last option for chopping was it full tang or not.

    You have probably explained this 100 times already, but is the coating inside the "can" keeping that shit from all melting together? Sub for a response that explains how that works!

    • @JPsBladeworks
      @JPsBladeworks  17 дней назад +1

      The coatinf is just white paint. It keeps the can itself from sticking to what's inside. The pigment in the paint that makes it white is titanium oxide and it doesnt like to weld. Its the same principle as to why people use whiteout to line their cans. Only difference is that spray paint is easier to apply. Hope that helps.

    Using screws, nails, iron balls or chains to make a knife only serves to visually embellish the work done. What is the difference in appearance between the knife you made and a knife worth $5 bought from a hardware store?You need to get rid of the classic knife model that has been stereotyped for thousands of years and come up with more original designs.

      Nah

    • @DisIntegratedLife
      @DisIntegratedLife 24 дня назад

      That $5 hardware store knife is made of out shit steel that struggles to hold an edge. Or stainless steel that has chromium in it and makes for steel that has very large grains which are harder to sharpen. There's a reason you don't see any of these knife makers using stainless steel, but it's popular in mass produced shit because it's low maintenance and rust resistant. Maybe let the person who makes knives, make the knives. Either sit back and enjoy, or don't.
