      I want to invest in one but I don't have the space for it and i don't want to further annoy the neighbors with my noise. Hopefully I can move into a bigger place in the near future.

    I agree with the makers mark, but you could use some 15N20 filler with TIG for that delam. Just adds to the pattern.

      @@drucker03 yea my other brother owns multiple of my knifes since i started. I make him the same style with different materials and trade for something or just as a birthday present. We are a very tight knit family.

    You need to build a few shelves and boxshelves to hold your tools and keep them safe and organized. You may have to reorganize your shop layout but that comes in time. I'm glad to see a young man getting into forging and blacksmithing . Learn to do your high-end woodworking and other skills such as finding wood in your own backyard. I can usually go out and find black cherry burls around.

    Just a thought, make it a full flat grind from edge to spine next time? Might have ground through the de-lam while still leaving enough spine thickness to be a sturdy kitchen tool. Great video, and an amazing blade. Be well.

      I thought about that but the original design asked for the grind to stop half an in before the spine so i went with that instead.

    Grind in some venting on that side like a commercial slicing knife? I still think it looks great, Really like the color of the scales too.

      I had that thought but i didnt have a small wheel to do that with. I felt if I did it another way it would look crappy.

    Do a mild fuller mid blade to hide the defect. It will also help with cutting as well.

    Grind out the deamination with a carbide burr. Cut up a nice slice of high carbon steel filler rod and fill it in by TIG.
    Like you said, it's not for sale but it'll look better and not get junk/rust in there.
    Sweet knife!

    I got some unistrut from home depot with strut straps to mount my 3 in pvc pipes on the wall out of the way.

    Great looking blade. The delam sucks but since it’s a slicer, maybe hollow grind will make it disappear. I don’t know what size wheels you have but thinking 8-12 inch would do it and leave the spine thickness. Keep at it!

    Maybe you could try some weird sanmai with what's left of it? I remember one guy just took all end peaces of his Damascus builds he put on the side, slam them all together and sandwich them with some tooth pattern on the main blade

      I felt that was a cop out and it would look odd with my stamp being significantly lower than it normally is.

      It would but it would have to be welded with 15n20 tig weld which i dont have. If i used a mig weld it would come out looking worse when etched due to the introduction of mild steel to the knife

      @@JPsBladeworks I was at the half way point on the video* you had not added the handle yet lol
      you can always re temper without a handle
      It’s always tough to say how deep they go to.
      I saw some one takes a drill and cuts into them and adds weld to make sure it’s not too deep.
      But at the same time that type of knife is not gonna take big impacts to no big ya know
      But if water keeps getting in Rusting it from inside the crack idk what kinda damage timeframe that would be

      The brother that made the brisket started knife making in 2020 and I had free time so I went to give it a try and once it got into it the rest is history.

      I did an etched one off camera instead of doing a pressed one how i usually do. So its harder to see.

    Any more pattern would have been a determinant in my opinion. If it's for your brother you should have hid the delam with your makers mark. That looks like some mighty fine brisket, in my opinion. But here's to hoping for better brisket each time....😛

      He made it in his grill. So im thinking we could get some money together to get a pellet grill and fine tune the little things that are hard to do on a grill. So next year for sure should be a step up

    Regarding your comment about using nail polish to coat the knife, please invest in some actual sealer instead! Nail polish yellows and cracks with age, and it would be a shame to have such a beautiful knife ruined because of that

      Yes it was just to help ensure that the coffee didnt stain the handle material. I tested out a small piece and noticed it stained it so i had to go that route but i removed it all and give it a coat of wax.
