My dad is the kind of hero who deserves a table like this. He is the one who taught me a love for woodworking, and how to live all or nothing.
He was in the Philippines, starting a couple halfway houses for drug users, another for battered women, and a home for abused/orphaned children.
Unfortunately, due to medical complications, he was forced to retire a few years ago and come back to the states. Now he, and my mom, are having to move again and you just happen to be on the way about the time you are giving this away.
Oh, and this is the guy that spent 80+ hours building a personalized wooden train, to scale, and then just gave it away (easily worth over $500 if not $1,000.
If you agree that my hero, who has given so much to the world, deserves a chance at a table like this, please give this comment a like.

All or nothing. I’d nominate my coworker Delena and her family. They live in OK, and have had bad luck with tornadoes hitting their farm. Their kids are smaller, she and her hubby are “older” parents and live very humbly. This would be a huge gift of kindness to demonstrate that there are still MANY nice people who care and provide a lifelong reminder to the “young’ns that this was the table that started my lifelong acts of kindness and giving….if they get that, who knows, but I can always hope. Great video. Thanks

Okay - so I would like to nominate myself. Both my wife and I have been building and rebuilding homes since 1996. In 2000 we had a house fire and the lender took all the insurance to pay off the loan and we started with a burned out shell and using the « figure it out » on the weekend skills we built and raised three kids in time. Now in out our 50’s because of all the lack of money and over work - we are fully disabled. We would love to have this table. Please vote for us.

I have been watching you for a while and love the work you do. Being separated from my wife and daughter for a year is tough, but this would be an awesome moral boost for my wife! I could make it to OKC to pick it up!

I am a home crafter and have had my share of mistakes, have been tempted many times to just toss it in the trash but it bothers me so much that I can’t relax until I figure out what went wrong and figure out how to fix it. As far as you narratives, I find your explanations informative and enjoy your stories.

I want to nominate my mom and dad. Having raised four kids, they sacrificed so much to provide for us. One thing that was always consistent in our home growing up was family dinner at the dinner table. It’s one of my fondest memories. Now, they have 4 kids and 4 grandkids (and counting) and need a bigger table for us all to fit at the dinner table for family time. This table would fit that perfectly. I live in the OKC metro area and love that we have such a creative youtube channel right in our backyard. Love the content!

Great work. I am an organ builder in Kent (UK) with 20+ years experience and, regarding things going wrong, sometimes no matter how hard you try, things will go wrong. Sometimes your mind maybe somewhere else, or too many things in the head or you just need another coffee. The point is that we are only humans and mistakes will happen. The good thing about working with wood is that, generally, there is a (creative) solution for mistakes. Other times you have to live with them and admit that nobody is perfect. There is another thing about mistakes, some people admit them and even tell others and there are the ones that do not tell anyone, but still in the same position than the others. This is my experience.

I nominate myself!! Although I cannot say “ I deserve” anything, I can argue that my love of art in any form is what keeps me going!!! I have, like you, used my ADHD, to allow me to learn ( and obsess) pottery, glass work ( fused and stained) upholstery, painting with oil, acrylic and I realized it’s just from my love of color and uniqueness. I’ve taken that love of color and switched to pastry art where I’ve been able to use on a large scale for charity work and donating back to my community.
I’m sure there are others that will have a more completing story so, I would nominate those folks as well. Thanks for your art, ability to ramble (effectively to keep people engaged) and entertainment. The patches are art and personality!

I'm personally not a fan of the look, but fully acknowledge that people like different things. That said, I have a friend in OK that would definitely appreciate it. This man, whom I've never met physically, has been an incredible inspiration in my own life. He's what I would call a "starving actor" (though I think he's doing well enough that, with supplemental income, he's getting by). But I know how much time and effort he puts into pursuing his passion, often to the detriment of a comfortable lifestyle. If there's anybody I know that could use something like this, and would appreciate it for the time, effort, and passion that went into it, it would be him. You're both all or nothing kind of people.

I am in two minds about the table. I think it looks lovely - the joins, the contrast between the different species, the gap in the middle providing visual interest. It's just a gorgeous piece of woodworking that obviously took a lot of time and skill to create. Still, despite your incredibly convincing demonstration, I've had a dining table before that had a middle section with slatted wood and it drove me crazy. The ones on my table were much smaller and plates definitely couldn't be tossed through but it was just frustrating as it reduced the usable area. That could just be a me-thing, I don't know. But that table is in my garage now :D
I did watch the whole vid - all or nothing - and I hope you find a happy home for this table. I've upvoted a few of the nominations. Good luck to all who are hoping to recieve this very generous gift.

I have only used purpleheart a few times, and love how it looks. but in those few times I have broken more than a reasonable number of tools on it. I know that a lot of people won't like your idea for the stitches, but you can't please everyone. good on you for following through on your plan. I think it looks great. I would really like to have this table, but I can't follow rule #1. I am a disabled vet living in far norther California, and I dont even have a vehicle to carry my wheelchair, little own a truck to haul that beautiful table home. so Grats to who ever does win it. all or nothing.

Another quirky thing about purple heart wood is it browns over time. I made some cutting boards one Christmas early on in my woodworking journey for friends and family and they have browned ugly. Love your builds and your stories, makes my day. I have a friend who runs marathons and this thing here in Utah called the Moab on the rocks, Ragnar and other ultra-marathons. He has shared similar stories with me, makes me laugh and he can't understand why. I have tried to explain that there is a 13 year old boy trying to get out of me every chance he gets. anyway, love what you do and thoroughly enjoy your content. Thanks for sharing your time and talent!

I do wish I had some of the tools you have, but more that that I wish I had more time in my life to do more of what you're doing. I'm 67 years old and because of some terrible life choices, and Covid to boot, I'm just now trying to set up my fourth wood shop and hopefully this time it will stay open long enough to really enjoy working in. So, I encourage everyone not to get old because it comes fast if you're not paying attention and really screws up your life plans.

ALL OR NOTHING!!! I am a huge fan of your work and I am nominating one of the coolest people I have ever met (who lives in OK) and had the honor of serving with with. I nominate my old patrol partner Maegan Smith. She was police officer for 10+ years (OK AND WA) but more importantly my partner for many of those years. She is one of the most selfless, giving people I have ever met and I look up to her so much more than she will ever know. She is no longer a LEO because of a medical incident that she went through, which sadly stopped her career short. Maegan is a survivor of breast cancer and a true hero. Since I have known Maegan, she has put others before herself and continues to do so. I wish I could give her the world because she deserves it.

When drilling metal with HSS drill bits, the rpm is most important. Today’s hand drills really suck for this purpose. But for any of your basic structural steel the Cutting Speed to use is 60.
For most stainless steels the Cutting Speed to use is 30.
    The formula is 4xCS/diameter.
So the tube steel that you were using requires 60CS so 240/@.375”=640 rpm. Most brushless motor drills in low gear and full trigger turn 500 rpm. But a 25% reduction in rpm is good to keep the drill bits from burning up. As long as the pressure applied is sufficient to keep the bit cutting the metal out. The amount of oil needed for that size hole in that size steel is actually only one drop. I do apologize for wasting your time if this info is not needed and I apologize for making such a long comment. I do hope this helps and that you appreciate. Thankyou for your videos.

I am a CDL instructor here in okc. I work anywhere from 6 to 7 days a week. I am also a single parent who takes care of my daughter and my granddaughter full time. And to be honest, I despise eating in the living room. Being a single parent on a limited income, buying a table just hasn’t been in the cards. If I get picked, the table will definitely get used and will be loved. Even if I don’t get it, I will be grateful of any votes and thankful for the work that you do and the content you put out. Oh, yeah, and….all or nothing!

I grew up in Leadville CO, and I remember the trail 100 being a big thing every year. In fact my dad worked for the college there in the communication department, and covered one of the runners like a reporter would. I remember him telling me what a challenge it was to run next to him with a big camera on his shoulder. There mountains there in Colorado are no joke, most of the highest peaks in the country are right there near Leadville. My dad and grandpa would take me hiking in those mountains, and I was able to summit several of the 14ers in Colorado. Anyway, loved your attention to detail, and hearing about your many hobbies. Looking forward to more!

I love beautiful, exotic woods as many people do. I love the idea of incorporating some thing, rare, or expensive/hard to get into your common place and every day. You’ll never be able to have a full dining table made of Purple Heart. But you can have this piece that ties the two together and makes a wonderful metaphor for everyone to talk about over dinner. I like the bowties. They’re smart and kind of dorky.

All or nothing. My boyfriends parents are the most deserving people. They are the most loving, accepting, supportive people I've ever met. My kids and I are so lucky to be a part of their lives. Between adopting animals, taking care of family, handling stress better than anyone I ever imagined anyone able to(and there has been A LOT of it, especially this past year), singing their chickens to sleep, working on everyone's vehicles during downtime, canning all kinds of things just to give them away... They're just phenomenal people. I wish everyone had someone in their lives like them. It's felt like home since the first time I walked in their door, and I always look forward to my biweekly trip to jersey to see them.
