This short but brilliant film was on today at 16.45 didn't see it until 17.25. So here on RUclips watchng whatever I can of it. What a life eh! I'm from the 60's. So remember more of early 70's reconstruction of cities. Those buildings that replaced Victorian onrs are noe themselves demolished and replaced with utterly plain and soulless!
Great film this. The haunting images of the elderly back in those days, many of which had very little and weren't as old (most likely) as they look in this film. How the country has changed in some instances, with large swathes of the boomers who are today's OAPs now probably some of the best off in the country. That is not their fault, just how society has changed owing in part to a dysfunctional housing market and improved living standards (many would say at the expense of today's youngest who will have no chance of home ownership in London).
@@samjones6258 I lived mostly in Manchester but briefly in Basildon. My mother said eels were a big part of the food around London. Back in Manchester I ate tripe and cowheels at UCP cafés. 20 years later I was eating tripa à moda do Porto in Espinho Portugal!! What a food journey!
Hi Ken from Ontario Canada. I first saw your masterpiece 8 months ago. Good to see the folks on "I grew up in Islington North London" are getting to see your stuff. What's the heads up of the new one your talking about? Cheers Harry
This was narrated so well by the late, great James Mason.

It’s amazing to see the determination of young kids back then to use cutlery. I’ll say nothing about todays generation.
