We own both the Pocket 3 and Action 4. The Pocket 3 is outstanding as a vlogging camera. The low light on the Action 4 is very poor - the pocket copes pretty well - settings depending
Thank you very much for sharing the video. Summarizing: 1. If you want the best image buy a $4,000 camera plus a special lens. 2. If you blog indoors and in the city, buy a Osmo Pocket 3 3. If you do point 2 + fixings in rain, in the field, adventure and sports, buy the DJI Osmo Action 5 4. Buy the 2 DJI cameras and you will be happy

Thank you for the bit in the video about the mics and the Lark M2 I didn't know you could take the door off the Action 5 to fit the receiver.. Great video and help as always.👍
I really like the Pocket 3 and was on the fence about this for months but I will be moving to Florida soon so I ended up getting the Action 5 Pro. I don't regret it at all because both camera are great. I think I was caught up in the idea of having a mini gimbal. I just know with moving near the beach, I can’t afford to have a vulnerable camera like the Pocket 3. Plus, Florida is very humid and tends to have rain so the Action 5 Pro was a better option.
I think the pocket 3 pushes up the shadows too much during the day, feels a bit over exposed. The 5 look’s sharper to me I like the image it produces during daylight shooting, the 3 looks overly processed during the day, sky is blown out and shadows too , it’s almost like iPhone. It evens itself out though for low light, this works for it … loved the review
Thank you Tamara for covering the differences between these two cameras! Bonus footage using the Hohem at 6:49 was great, amazing how much that improves the night time recording on the Action cameras 😀Have you ever covered using a z axis stabilizer with the DJI Pocket?
In the past I had the first Osmo Action and I was very happy without modern features and tecnology but now I bought the Osmo Pocket 3 two months ago for filming my travels and I can’t be more satisfied with this choice. Both cameras you show in the video are very good options but Pocket 3 is more delicated, obviously. Thanks for your work.

Love how informative your videos are. I love my pocket 3 but ran into a couple of problems where I had to stop filming due to the beautiful Welsh weather lol. So I saved up for the action 4 and that week I was going to order I had a notification of the release date of the action 5. I waited and it come the other day and I’m so happy with it! I was going to wait for the ace pro2 to come out but, I just like the way the settings are on DJI and I wanted to be able to use both cameras in a video without the viewers being able to notice and the action 5 did not disappoint on that. One thing I will say is double check the fps as I did in my last video up the mountain I filmed in 120fps and had it on 4K/4:3 instead of 24/30 fps 4K/16:9 😂 so totaly ruined the footage 🤦🏽♀️ all a learning curve.
Great video! I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about the OAP5 and I'm waiting for the ace pro 2 to see what's better but honestly, at least from a non-expert prospective, the action 5 pro seems great. 99% leaning towards this. Thank you for the excellent content! 👌😊
I am between OA5 and Ace Pro 2 as well. For live streaming/adventure/vlogging, do you think should get the DJI Action 5 Pro now, or wait for Insta360 Ace Pro 2? Is the flip screen really needed for vlogging?
@@neil527 yeah the problem is that without the ace pro 2 out is impossible to compare. However, if you're in a rush, I'm 100% sure the OAP5 will do an excellent 👌 job mate. Adventure/vlogging, not sure about streaming but I don't see why not. Also, one of the few reason that will 99.9% make me get the action 5 is that it comes with a vlog combo (in Europe) that includes the DJI mic 2 and it's so useful...for me it's a great pick! 😁🖐️
out of both the action 5 pro and the pocket 3, which one do you think is a travel friendly camera suited for travel videos? I make content around traveling and still not able to get my head around even after watching all these reviews on which camera should I go for the action 5 or the pocket 3?
Either will do, if you want the best image quality in all situations then the pocket 3 is the better choice. If you want something durable and waterproof with more mounting options then the Action 5 is the better option.
Nicely done! I enjoy the action camera when the background is more important than the face…which for me is most often as I’m usually outdoors on an adventure. If we want to simply vlog (eg a talking head) the OP3 a clear winner. That said, I’ve seen some folks using either with great success in almost any scenario…an OP3 on a glacier or in a kayak or an Osmo action camera on a street in the evening. It’s more about the story than the video. You should try one day having your children record a short clip of you…what they think would be fun! We would probably all enjoy…but make sure it’s on the action camera, and even then maybe the older one.
Nice comparison, there both great cameras. You just to choose the one that fits your needs the best. Or get both, that's what I did. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this comparison. Would you mind sharing the filters that are seen at the end of the video and are they meant for the pocket 3? Thanks in advance.
Nice video. For live streaming/adventure/vlogging, do you think should get the DJI Action 5 Pro now, or wait for Insta360 Ace Pro 2? Is the flip screen really needed for vlogging?
Honestly, I own the Osmo Action 1, 4 & 5 - and I own all 4 Oso Pockets 1, 2 & 3 and I have to say the "leap" from 1-5 for the Action series is simply not too great whereas in the Pocket series the difference is much more noticeable.
I have both cameras and only use them to make city walking videos and I have to say that DJI Action 5 doesn't give the terrible overexposed videos when I am walking on the streets. Using the pocket 3 I know I will have a lot of white skies when I am walking trough narrow streets on a sunny day. I wish Pocket 3 had the great DJI Action 5 exposure control, it would be the best camera for city walks.
@abcjediabc i have the OP3 just tested it yesterday and it's over exposed my video even with black mist filter. I don't know yet what's the best setting for it. 🥲
I worry about the durability and my clumsyness to have the Pocket, but an action in a case with a very hands free approach is everything I want, plus a very small footprint check everybox I can think of, my wish list is screw on lenses(that function and are not just a gimmick) but that don't break the bank and ports that don't reside behind latches but I know that would compromise the water proofing. The Action is as close to perfect for my needs
Love and thanks for the comparison, that in expensive gimbal made my decision a little easier. For me I think the action 5 has more versatility with that gimbal or something similar
The action 5 is a great choice for vlogging. But many people are saying the action 4 footage looks nicer. So hopefully DJI will improve with future updates. Also, be aware that the pocket 3 image quality is superior; looking far more like a professional camera, with excellent close focus on the face. Although the action 5; as well as action 4 may have improved with this since the action 3, it is still not as sharp as it should be on close focus, when compared to the pocket 3. Cheers.
@@TamaraGabrielUK most of the travel vloggers are now using the Pocket 3, because they're mostly walking and talking or filming themselves drinking coffee.

I would say, if you're not using the camera for diving, or any sport related environments then get the Pocket 3. Better image and low light quality. Bigger sensor helps and gimbal helps a lot. I use both cameras for different applications, but if I had to choose 1 it would be the Pocket 3 all the way.
If I don't want to film myself, but want to film while traveling, what should I choose? Pocket 3 is more expensive and you can't film underwater with it.
@@photovokal8941 Yes, the Pocket 3 is not water proof, but has much better low light performance and stabilization in low light as well. When you walk around with the Action 5 pro in low light areas the digital stabilization doesn't work correctly. You need to choose between weather sealing and image quality, which is why I have both for different use cases.
Great video! I am torn...Which do you like best? I mostly will need it for real estate home tours and occasional talking heads for instagram which I usually use my iPhone 16 pro.
I don't own any cameras currently.. I'm thinking of buying Action 5 Pro & small phone for pictures and portrait video like regular samsung s23 ... What do you think?
It all depends on what you're doing, it's fantastic to have an action cam if you go swimming, or surfing, or skiing or any other activities where you'll likely to break any other kind of camera or a phone. But if you're NOT doing something active or wet, just about anything else will likely be better. If you want good background blur for example for those striking videos/photos, you need a mirrorless camera, the fake AI one from your phone is far from perfect, but you may not care.
@@DigiDriftZone Thank you for your response.. I really want an action camera because I ride my bike a lot.. and secondly I want it to work alongside the phone camera in RUclips studio filming from inside the games room... unfortunately the mirrorless camera is very very expensive in my country .

Just wondering if the Dji action cameras have any focusing modes like product showcase mode like the Dji pocket . Or any other action cameras like ace pro go pro etc?
Given how popular DJI action cameras have become. I’m surprised nobody has made a dedicated gimbal for the action cameras so you can get full functionality of the menu and buttons etc
DJI is being a dick with bluetooth protocol. That's the reason why nobody has made a 3rd party Bluetooth remote yet where GoPro have plenty. No one has cracked it yet
Pocket 3 to use when you need perfect stabilization on 1/60 Shutter in low light. No digital Stabilization, A Gimbal and 1 inch sensor. There is no competition. Action cameras are for outdoors in daylight
I really want to buy the DJI pocket 3. I just wonder what the different Dji Pocket 3 combo.i bought last week, my Dji osmo 4. Thanks for sharing your video really amazing
I am traveling to Alaska to see the northern lights in a couple of weeks and want to get one of these cameras to really capture everything the best including dog sledding etc. which camera do you think would be the best?
Tamara, love your videos keep up the great work. Can you use Osmo action 5 with the hohem v3 and use the tracking feature thus matching the pocket 3 for vlogs. Etc. Love a vid comparison.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I got the Action 5 Pro and have not been that impressed with the image it produces. I may return it and wait for the Ace Pro 2, which could be better. I have 3 little kids I wanted op3 but I don’t like to stress out about it being very fragile. So I’m thinking maybe action5pro or ace pro 2 coming? What do yall think?
You will get more run time out of the new battery in the OA4 but not as much as you do in the OA5 due to the new chip in the OA5 being much more power efficient.
I decided on the pocket 3 and the Insta 360 x4 as I'm going to Nepal next month, also taking my DJI mini pro3, Sony A7IV and 6700. I did watch all your vlogs on the pocket 3 before I bought it. The Action 5 wasn't out at the time but all good 😉 Tamara can you please give me the link for that ND filter kit you showed in this vlog for the Pocket 3 ? Thank you God Bless.
OA 5 is a win for me, because even without a gimbal, the footage is actually comparable and sometimes even better than a dedicated gimbal camera, and its rugged and weatherproof, and its a lot cheaper!
For walking and talking sometimes I use an action camera, sometimes I use the Pocket 3, but I don't ninja walk when walking and talking only when capturing b-roll.
I have the sony a6700 with 11mmbut you cant walk with it. so i have the DJI RS4. But this setup is on the gavey side. Action 5 can be an addition in daylight situations

When you buy the DJI Mic 2 it will work interchangeably with the Action 4/5, and Pocket 3 via Bluetooth. No need to buy a mic for each camera unless you want to record on each camera at the same time and use the mic.
@@TamaraGabrielUK ok, autotranslation obviously does not work well. I was wondering if I can use a third-party-mic with the pocket 3 because I already have a wirless mic from Holyland. But I'll find it out anyway. Thanks again! Grüße,

@@MizoTVWrestling Phones are not too bad these days but also don't ignore options like an old second hand Sony ZV-E10, they can be found dirt cheap now that the new one is available.
I would get the Action 5@@MizoTVWrestling

I will wait for pocket 3
I am searching for your LUTS i can't find it? Can you please share the link here.
Thanks 😊
Just wondering if the Dji action cameras have any focusing modes like product showcase mode like the Dji pocket . Or any other action cameras like ace pro go pro etc?
Looking forward to this
Given how popular DJI action cameras have become.
So professional that you said Osmo before both cameras 👍
I am traveling to Alaska to see the northern lights in a couple of weeks and want to get one of these cameras to really capture everything the best including dog sledding etc. which camera do you think would be the best?
I’d probably go with the Action 5 since it sounds like you might need something a bit on the rugged side.
@@TamaraGabrielUKdo you think it would hold it’s own video quality wise? I have the pocket 2 and wanted a upgrade for those beautiful views in Alaska
@LYVSWORLD It depends on the lighting conditions. In general the Pocket 3 has the better quality.
@ ahhh, okay. Yeah it’s supposed to be dark for majority of the day there is only daylight for 4 hours each day.
@LYVSWORLD For low light I’d choose the Pocket 3.
What happens if you crank your shutter speed up manually on the action 5 to 1/120 or 1/240 and abandon the 180 degree shutter rule?
Tamara, love your videos keep up the great work. Can you use Osmo action 5 with the hohem v3 and use the tracking feature thus matching the pocket 3 for vlogs. Etc. Love a vid comparison.
It fits but it’s not ideal. You’d be better off with the Hohem MT2 with the tracking module.
Are you hearing anything about an Action 5 firmware update?
There's definitely gonna be one, just don't know when.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I got the Action 5 Pro and have not been that impressed with the image it produces. I may return it and wait for the Ace Pro 2, which could be better. I have DJI Drones & the Pocket 3, so the Action 5 would fit in well. Hope they clean up the image in both day light and low light. The low light jitters and noise are ridiculous at this stage of the game.
I have 3 little kids I wanted op3 but I don’t like to stress out about it being very fragile. So I’m thinking maybe action5pro or ace pro 2 coming?
What do yall think?
Can the battery of the oa5 pro also be used in the oa4?. And will the battery life be long when you use the OA4? Thanks for the answer
Yes and yes.
You will get more run time out of the new battery in the OA4 but not as much as you do in the OA5 due to the new chip in the OA5 being much more power efficient.
Thankyou guys.
💯
Is the action 5 pro recording gimbal noise without external mic? i have isteady 2, and with gopro 5 it's a mess!
So When I already have a osmo pocket 3, There is no need to buy a action 5 pro camera.
When you record a video in P3 while walking then do you do ninja walk?
Nah, not while walking and talking. I only do it when shooting b-roll.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thanks for replying. So while walking and talking you use Action cam?
For walking and talking sometimes I use an action camera, sometimes I use the Pocket 3, but I don't ninja walk when walking and talking only when capturing b-roll.
i have a dji pocket 3 and an action 5 but both camera colours are totally different how do I get the colours to look similar?
You have shoot in D-Log M, when you convert and grade the footage it’ll match nicely.
Is oa5 battry case can do multiple charges like a mic case. Or just as charging hub only
Just a charging hub, like the drone battery cases.
@TamaraGabrielUK owh orite. Thanks
Please help us to show us how to use hollyland m2 wireless mic DJi action 5 pro please
I have the sony a6700 with 11mmbut you cant walk with it. so i have the DJI RS4. But this setup is on the gavey side. Action 5 can be an addition in daylight situations
@@Sambo111 Is a6700 it too heavy for walking and shooting type of vlog? I'm a beginner and don't have much budget .I want to do both photography and vlogs. What would u recommend.
@@prayagraj999
6700 with prime lens as 11mm with HLG profile has amaizing quality but walking is not possible witout a gimble
Grüße,
Ah, yes you can 😊
