  • This town feels like the scam capital of India. I thought I was going to get mugged in this town and I couldn't find an honest person here! I think it's not safe for solo female travellers or maybe there's a different side to this town, watch the video and find out

6:07, 300 bucks for 5kms to and fro is reasonable mate. Indian trains are heavily subsidised, you cant compare that to private taxis. Indians too have to haggle with these fares. Why didn't you check Google maps to find out the correct distance?
The scamming bus driver who quoted 700 to 1000 bucks was quoting for the entire bus to be at your service. He was giving a breakdown of cost. But I agree he was scamming. He would have made money by taking on passengers on his return.
I visited a place in Maharashtra last January. Three of us mates paid 500 bucks for incluned 3.5 kms in a tourist town. It was a 10 seater SUV. The cabby said if I get more passengers, I can reduce the price. We did not want to wait so we basically paid the fare of 9 people.
Language barrier made things worse here.
