I feel betrayed with this year. We were supposed to be given something very grand, and instead IF got shut down. I know Index IV is (maybe) a lot to ask for. But any adaptation? Anything? Astral Buddy? Dark Matter? I would take Railgun too, even if I am more interested in seeing something else, for fresh perspective. Where is the promised surprise? Come on, 20th anniversary year doesn't come around just like that. I suppose next is 25th. I don't want to wait that long though, come on, this franchise is so intricate and wonderful, it needs to get love it deserves!

It’s pretty unfortunate to see this happen to Toaru. Especially for being a behemoth in the light novel industry. There is endless content to adapt but I’ve given up hope and only look forward to new volume releases nowadays.
It’s pretty sad to see IF going away because being able to see many NT characters get voiced and animated genuinely made me overjoyed, and felt like a glimpse of what a NT anime could be like. I can’t imagine this is because of low demand or them not having the resources especially with how large it is in East Asia but alas we can only hope for a brighter future and keep reading GT 😔

  • @kazuma-san4739
    @kazuma-san4739 Месяц назад +40

It's crazy that a franchise this big is getting this treatment.
But well, i guess Kadokawa is very confortable with how toaru is right now, that they don't care about what toaru could become. It's more important for them to chase new possible hits, and greenlight a lot of mediocre adptations the new overpowered action harem isekai that has Kirito as the protagonis.
Maybe if Sony buys them, maybe, things will change. Maybe i higher up will look at the company historic and see "hey, that thing here used to sold really well, why we don't make anything about it anymore?".
I hope for the day Index anime receives a reboot.
I think that a good reboot would attract a lot more people in the series, even in Japan (since it's been a long time since the first adaptations we're made, there certainly is a huge anime/manga/LN fanbase that has grow "unaware" of the toaru franchise).

If Sony buys Kadokawa they’re going to screw up future seasons of Rezero.
The only reason s3 has been so good is because the eps are longer, the first ep was movie length and they delayed releasing it for a year to make the animation really good.
      Sony would ruin that.

All it took for Index Season 3 to destroy everything. It's the catalyst of all.
Railgun Season 3 can't even save the franchise. It did help but it's temporarily for the casual since it is another season of Anime to watch on the list.
Gacha & Pachinko is just milking the poor remaining loyal fans. It's not promoting new fans getting into the series.
If Index Season 3 is done right, the casual content creators will be discussing the series. There will be more cosplayers promoting the series. There will be more fanarts. People will buy more figurines. DVD/Blu-ray would sell well. Gacha games will still go on. We don't have to resort to making money from Pachinko.
Now, the light novel content creators are helping to keep the franchise alive for the Western audience. I don't see manga being discussed well.
Obviously, Aeon of Horus also takes part in keeping the franchise alive for the Western audience.

The 20th Anniversary has been rough so far, especially with the blow of IF dying....I'm not sure if Kadokawa getting badly hacked early this year has delayed any projects (if any have been planned) back a bit. To tell the truth, the thing I want the most is a new Index anime whether that be NT or even an OT remake....On the more positive side, we still have this month and up till April 2025 to get something announced! We also had that strange Tweet that said a NT anime is in talks, whether or not that leaker is legit or is playing a cruel joke reminds to be seen. I'm still hopeful we might get something announced soon but even then, this has even exceeded my worst-case scenario.

Dengeki did plan for the accelerator spin off to get massive attention coming off of Index iii. But we all saw how well that went. Same with dark matter and how hyped he was in Index III.
Same with mental out launching shortly after Railgun T. But I don't hear anyone talking about it.
Dengeki made multiple attempts to grow the franchise but made massive mistakes at multiple steps of their plans. They're likely at a stage where they are reevaluating the direction of the franchise.
At least Anbu no ITEM is doing things right for once. That has potential to grow, but I doubt it was made to last.

In the next story arc, I'd like to see misaka try to create her own phase/belief system that uses the esper's personal reality as idols. For example since misaka uses lightning then she could use it as a symbol to link heaven and earth thus welding both wind and earth magic. I got this idea because I think that I once heard that in a lightning storm the lightning actually strikes in the middle because one half of the electrons travel from the sky down, and the other from the earth up (again, I could be wrong). I can see Misaka wanting to compete with magic because of how helpless and powerless she felt in recent volumes. With the existence of angels, majin, and majin like mages (last two are practically level 6), it would be reasonable for misaka to look for an edge. Not to mention there's a lot of level zeros and ones esper's who felt cheated by the program, or hit a wall, so it's not like she would be short on support if that's what it takes to create a phase, by spreading the message or fleshing out the belief system (I don't know if notoriety is mandatory for making a phase without majin level magic).

Honestly, this is why I don't try to hope for things if I notice there's little to begin with, so I won't be as hurt when nothing or something bad happens. I will just enjoy the LNs manga and whatever comes out for the series, but it was clear to me that Toaru, for whatever reason, is an afterthought to the company. From what I've seen, companies, even when they clearly make stupid decisions that cost them money (only up till a certain point in most cases), usually don't budge unless they are literally forced to or the people at the top change.

who knows, maybe they have been making it behind the seems all this time, and in the next year or two and they will release NT and then end up releasing each season 1 to 2 years apart from each other. Hopeful thinking I'm sure. But let's all hope. Other than that at least we a probably guaranteed to get New Testament in manga at some point.
PS: I have a lot of anime only watcher friends, and seen a ton of anime only watchers who loved Season 3. And the Accelerator anime. Through I still say they should make an original season 2 of that and scrap the Full Corse Arc if they decided to make a 2nd season of that.

I feel your pain all to well. I am a huge fan of the Toaru Universe and fully enjoy what little anime we have of the different parts of the stories. I am greatly disappointed though considering the anime side of the table. When I look at all the anime that has been created that has any real value to it other then brain rot I find myself dumbfounded. Sure, everyone has there likes and dislikes, but this goes well beyond that. It actually feels like they are actively punishing and ignoring the fans of Toaru universe.
I won't list off all the anime that has been made that made next to no money, or anime that is seriously perverted and leaves you thinking there are some people out there with some really "interesting" fetishes or takes on what is good or worth watching but seriously... why are we getting ignored or left out in the cold. Rant mode off, I agree with you whole heartedly Aeon. I shall stay hopeful for the future, that we will get what we want hopefully.

From what I've been told. The anime and manga is made to sell merch and the novel. The novel is so popular in Japan though that it doesn't need an anime or manga to boost sales, and merch is popular enough from the novel; so there is little incentive to continue as anime and manga are like selling your console for cheap to make up for the price on selling the games at a higher price. Though if everyone is buying the games already with or without a console then there isn't much of a point to make something that loses you money.

No, Kamachi deserved better. Heavy Object and a lot more Kamachi novels got it far worse and I think the failure of that anime must have hit Kamachi's motivation as a writer because he just wasn't the same after that. As a reminder, just cuz of some bad PR, all the Toaru fanbase was against the HO anime and pretty much destroyed the chances of any other novel series Kamachi was writing to ever get an anime adaptation, and the game he was writing for also got cancelled. Put yourself in his shoes for 2 seconds; that must have been extremely disappointing. And sure enough a few years after the streak of insanely creative original novels series Kamachi used to write all at once (on top of continuing Index) all of them ended and he's clearly writing much less stuff overall these days, it's like he's the doing the bare minimum while focusing on Index. I honestly think, if the fanbase didn't act like children that one time Kamachi would have been taken more seriously by Dengeki by now, and there would have been more hype and more budget given to Kamachi's stuff, he would have gotten more of his series animated while growing the hype for ToAru which would have gotten bigger and bigger, just like how Nasu w/ Fate and other successful writers always have multiple series going on to create a feedback loop and grow the fanbase and popularity, Kamachi could have enjoyed that. It's such a shame.

So just cos the fanbase doesnt like an anime adaptation doesn't mean they destroyed chances of future ones, it might just be a JC Staff problem.

The characters are amazing and the story is mindblowing. This franchise changed my life for better and I will never regret falling for series (and Accel redemption Arc)

Does J.C Staff not realise how successful an NT anime could be? The fandom is super hyped about it, the Light Novel of this arc is super successful and a Toaru anime comeback would make so much money if we‘re being honest. Not only would it bring old fans back, if they do decently on the animation or, god forbid, give it the Railgun T treatment, they could get so many new people into it.
It‘s so sad because Toaru is really an amazing world but it’s tiring to wait for so long for new (anime) content.
But honestly it feels like JC staff generally doesn’t really care about the animes they make…

Honestly, the anime would have been way better if Kadokawa and JC Staff agreed on working over 5 seasons for the Old Testament. Like-
    1 Season=24 episodes (OT1-OT5)
    2 Season=25 episodes (OT5-OT10)
    3 Season=25 episodes (OT11-OT14 with SS1)
    4 Season=24 episodes (OT15-OT18)
    5 Season=25 episodes (OT19-OT22)
This could have been the minimum Kadokawa should have given, but well the company definitely hates Toaru overall.🥲💔
(And I don't think Season 4 is gonna be good; they better focus on ending the OT-Timeline spinoffs first and a REMAKE)

Anime is an extremely low profit margin industry, and it’s been clear for years that kadokawa and jc simply don’t believe in index having any potential, for one reason or another. They probably had lost hope in it even before index III. And I am sure that even railgun T was a flop by their standards.
I am 100% sure that nothing is going to happen

Index 3 was really messed up, and that's on the anime creators.

  • @stevieveringus3857
    @stevieveringus3857 Месяц назад

LN sales really are carried by good anime adaptations. Or audience being familiar with certain characters. Look at NT 3 sales, people were really attracted by the characters appearing in the cover, if not anything else. Then there's NT 11 which I believe got a boost in sales when Railgun T was airing.
Franchises with a big audience like KnY will always have a salesplosion whenever it has a LN. For Toaru, the biggest focus should have been to bring the appeal of the universe at full force from very beginning, like Fate. Unfortunately, only the Science side got that advantage. It doesn't help that early OT kinda had more fluid science side volumes than magic side ones to adapt.
Still the end of Index II was quite effective in hyping up a future science/magic conflict. I think the sales of Index LN also had a surge after it aired. This was the MOMENT. Announce Index III to air within 3 years. Make it 36 episodes and spend your best resources. Toaru is saved!
But what happened eventually is... tardy.

  • @3rberv

Im kind of mixed on this. I'd rather not have a repeat of index 3. Im enjoying GT a lot.
Bleach got a good revival after all these years. I think we just need to be patient while expressing interest and a similar situation could play out.
