Thank you so much for this video!! A friend of mine was on vacation in Chicago a few weeks ago and I made her aware of The Dark Knight and she got all excited and I was able to use your video to guide her to a few of the locations.
The street (LaSalle Street) you were looking down toward the Chicago Board of Trade bldg (Mayor's memorial service)... Scenes from The Untouchables and Home Alone 2 were filmed there- namely the Rookery Building served as the police headquarters in The Untouchables and as the facade of Ducan's Toy Chest in Home Alone 2. Also, the Daley Center plaza with the Picasso sculpture was featured in The Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller and The Fugitive.
My two cents: I personally wouldn't call The Dark Knight a guilty pleasure. Obviously opinion is all purely subjective, but some things are so universally loved simply because they're the best -- Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Godfather and Lawrence of Arabia - many would say loving those are a cliche -- they're loved and appreciated because they're widely observed to be the best. In 2008 I was looking forward (that's putting it lightly) to two movies -- Indiana Jones 4 and The Dark Knight. When Indy 4 disappointed me beyond words, my mentality was "The Dark Knight had better be good, or I don't know what I'm gonna do" lol. The Dark Knight knocked it out of the park -- in my opinion. It was at my dad's Oscar party where we celebrated Heath winning the posthumous Oscar. I've chatted with, and gotten an autograph, from the cop Stephens, Gordon's friend. The Farmiloe Building in London, where the interior of the Gotham Major Crimes was filmed, sent me a picture of Batman taken there. Anyway, thank you again for this wonderful video!
Nice! I was the building superintendent at 225 Huron. They did the Bruce Wayne sports car thing on Franklin and Huron. They cut our building a check for access. Later, our garbage compactor entrance in the alley was used as a set for the TV show Shameless. They used our building repeatedly as did a show called Betrayal. Our building had the Sears Craftsman Experience Studios where many HGTV and DIY segments were filmed. Great video as always! And I know from experience the labor intensive editing process you must go through!
That's awesome! That must have been great to experience some of the filmmaking of those shows. I thought about doing some of those shots from when he was in the Lamborghini, but we ran out of time. Kind of wish I'd at least gotten the spot where he crashes into the SUV now. There are a few other movies left that I really want to hit in downtown Chicago too!
@@GoingtotheMovies That was just a bit south on Franklin (I believe either Illinois or Ohio street.) I was just back in Chicago filming some things. And everytime I get back I realize there were a dozen things nearby I missed!
Dude, absolutely awesome video! About to travel to Chicago and wanted to check out some locations from one of my favorite movies. This video was a huge help and thank you so much for putting the addresses in the bio!
@@GoingtotheMovies just got back from the trip and was able to see most of these. Had a blast hunting them all down. My favorite area was where the truck flipped and the bat pod did the u-turn on the wall. Thanks again!
The "funky looking parking garage" was one of the 2 Marina City towers. Twin "corn cob" shaped residential towers that were built in 1963. (Wiki) "The complex was built as a "city within a city", featuring numerous on-site facilities including a theater, gym, swimming pool, ice rink, bowling alley, stores, restaurants, and, of course, a marina."
When I was editing those, the text was showing up blurry, so I figured they wouldn’t be legible. After I exported it, I could see all the spelling errors I made while hastily writing in filler 😂
Hello, I just wanna say I just subscribed to your channel. I am actually a brand new person to your channel. He did a really really great job on this video. I actually like and enjoyed the movie. The dark Knight is one of my favorite movies that was made in downtown Chicagoreally enjoyed the video to get a fantastic job.
Mr. Mom is definitely up there in the top Batman movies. The first would have to be the one with Casey Affleck as Batman, directed by JJ Snyder. I haven't seen it yet, but I like the idea of it.
Several of the early scenes from Batman Begins were filmed on Lower Wacker... where Bruce goes to confront Falcone in his restaurant, then trades jackets with the homeless guy.
Very funny how many of the locations are close to each other - like the IBM and Trump Tower that portray totally different and various sets in the movie
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! The great thing about movies is the we all have different tastes. As I said in the video, I love every Christopher Nolan movie I’ve seen - which is all of them - and I will defend Tenet and Interstellar to the death. But, I also grapple with the fact that he is essentially the face of the “film bro.” I don’t let that affect my opinion of his movies but I am admittedly self-conscious about how it looks to be another guy proclaiming the greatness of the Dark Knight.
Hey your video was really nice but you didn't tell where they filmed the mob scean where they were talking to the chinese men and jokar came and showed us a magic trick and also where they filmed the scean whear joker was acting dead and killed the mob no hate but yea i want to know
I love how if you grew up in or around the Chicagoland area, you can’t help but point out everything that looks familiar when watching the movie.
Insane dedication these are the types of videos that deserve the millions of views
Thanks, Donny!
I saw this movie in a small Nebraskan town in the middle of my walk across America, so I will always remember watching this movie.
I am heading to Chicago next summer from Melbourne, Australia and you bet I am going to every one of these spots!
Thanks mate, brilliant video!
Hope you enjoy it, Paul! Chicago is amazing
Shoutout to your significant other. She’s a trooper and a keeper. Thanks for this vid !!
She sure is! 😍

Really like how you overlap the scenes with your shots to match it up 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks, Ricky!
Yeah, that's top notch video making, right there!

Nicely presented. The research you did to put this together really shows. Enjoyed!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

great video! 4:46 is also the parking garage roof from Batman Begins, the scene where the Tumbler/Batmobile blows a hole in the wall and launches off.
Thank you, HEMS407Driver!! Can you believe I’ve only seen Batman Begins one time 🤦♂️

Will do, Shawn! Thanks for being there from the beginning 🙏
Great job as always.
Nice to see you guys enjoying a cool ale between locations 🍺
LaSalle St is the best street in the city and I get to live the Joker scene everytime I walk by it
That’s pretty awesome, xgalvan1!
Love this. Love seeing how the sausage gets made. Exactly what I was looking for.
They also filmed Batman Begins, Batman vs Superman, Rampage, tbe Transformers and a bunch of other movies
Can’t wait to get back to Chicago and hit some other things. I’ve got a big bucket list for videos there!
And started the video at a Ferris Bueller location! :D
I've watched a bunch of filming location videos from different channels and yours blew me away. Excellent job!

Way to call me out for the dark knight being one of my favorites! 😂 I feel personally attacked sir!
Hahaha! Instead of asking people their favorite movies, I should’ve been saying, “I bet you $20 I can name your Top 3.”
Fantastic video as always! You're awesome for doing this!
Thank you, Jack! Glad you are enjoying the videos!
I lived in a suburb of Chicago when they filmed. On the news, they warned us of an explosion that was for filming, so don’t get alarmed.
Did you hear all the noise from the production?
@@GoingtotheMovies no, I was way too far away.
Watching film locations videos is the best
Absolutely killed this video dude! Awesome! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, man! We definitely burned some calories for this one 😂
AMAZING. Great editing.
Thanks, Javier!
2008 was a Masterpiece year ever
Great job! Got a belly laugh reading the fine print on the scene banners on our 4k tv. They looked awesome and computery.
