I think it's really hard to find reviewers who present balanced, objective perspectives, especially when the promotion is paid for.
I've subscribed just because how refreshing it was to see you not just layer on hype but also address who the game may not be for.
Your "cons" weren't negative, but definitely worth talking about.
Aww, thanks JD, your comment made my day! I'm really glad you enjoyed my perspective and even more glad to have you on the channel!
(Shout out to Godot Games for letting me be me!)
As someone who played it twice. The game is fun and very thematic.
The cons:
1. Playtime, both were played with five players and ended around 6~7 hrs.
2. Rulebook, the rulebook needs a deep touch up as we had trouble of when to preform a discard action out of turn, attacking and defending, and some events cards
3. Inlay, it's designed so weirdly that I heavily dislike and looking for alt. solution to organize the components.
4. Learning curve, I've spent more time explaining faction and character abilities than actually playing the game.
5. Set up, I was surprised how much the game takes up the table and I have a 6x4 table.
Sold. Thanks for making this, was definitely on the fence and needed a solid 10 minute overview to push me over the edge. Felt like you hit all the major interests for me: how all players stay engaged, replay and mechanics.
Glad to help! Thank you for watching!
My new KS rule is to back just one active campaign at a time. Primal may out-price me, so this and Illumination are the contenders for the next few weeks. Maybe Forest of Radgost. But thanks for this! I was not aware it was a social deduction game. Definitely love the art and table presence of it.
Thanks a lot Kalega, I am sure u will find lots of great stuff in the campaign to unlock (and maybe some secrets to uncover)^^
There mayyyy be some Forest of Radgost action on the channel at some point (thanks to Heath pointing it out). But as for the Human Punishment Series, they do cyberpunk very very well.
So excited to see you reviewing HP! Thanks Jordan!
I'd love to see a solo variant of this one.
You're welcome as always Heath! Autonomous Solo Social Deduction sounds like an entirely new genre we need to start xD
The faction balance is probably intended, as there will always be more humans and potentially machines than other faction members. The Fallen would only work by themselves. The Outlaws actually are not included, if they win, everybody looses. That’s why they probably have it a bit easier ;) it’s basically everybody against the game.
I would compare this the closest with Battlestar Galactica. And I really like the theme. Definitely one that I’m going to pick up.
Yes, and still the prototype is already "old", we advanced the fractions a lot till now :) the game already starts to be epic at 3 players!
That would explain a lot. I haven't been exposed to Battlestar Galactica, but Godot Games takes a lot of pride in how closely this game draws inspiration from it. So I'm pretty sure you're in good hands xD
Oh man is taking a lot of space on the table... And looks cool 😎
Yes, we already reduced the size of the player boards... they were maybe a LITTLE bit to big ;D
@@HatterM111 don't get me wrong I'm impressed and look really nice and colorful!!! I was wondering about the 90€ for the deluxe pledge and now seems that worth it!!! I will expand my HP collection
@@patriziopastore9895 thank u for your trust Patrizio, I am sure u will have a blast here 🖤🤖
25 minutes left... just want to say thank you for your great video :))
It was a pleasure working with you! Best of luck!
7:32 The Outlaw Faction actually isn't a playable faction... If the Outlaw Faction wins, every player loses! So, it's not really missing, it's giving all at the tables, which having different goals and objectives, few things all still need to work together to not have everyone at the table lose! :-)
Ahhh, that makes sense. Thank you for the clarification!
This game looks really cool! Love the artwork! However, it seems like there are a lot of components to manage and it looks like it takes a huge amount of tablespace :D
Btw, what are your thoughts on Primal now that it's on KS? Are you going to cover it more (since you were one of the first ones to cover it in the past)? Are you backing it? :)
It's definitely a big 'un! Embarrassingly enough, I just realized Primal hit KS yesterday! Let me chew through it this weekend and I'll have some thoughts soon!
@@WaitYourTurn Nice! Looking forward to your thoughts! :D
It's looking really good though! Might become my most expensive kickstarter yet :D
Woahh, not a bad way to start the new year xD
Yeaaaah, and I still need to decide on a pledge for massive darkness 2 xD
This is an expensive hobby, what did I get myself into xD
@@WaitYourTurn I mentioned you in one of Primals thread. Maybe you'll find it if you dig deep enough. Of all the KS reviewers, you are the one who saved me the most money. Thanks!
Love how the game looks! Art is amazing and if I liked Social Deduction, I would definitely back it. But social deduction is one of my least favorite mechanics... Production of the game looks completely amazing though!
Hey Adam! Long time no see :D
Yeah, the box art is among some of my favorite but like you said, the success of a social deduction game really depends on your play group.
We skipped the "social" part in this game. This is rly more a deduction part and not a social deduction mechanic in the game :) If u like games like Nemesis, BSG, Who goes there?, this is a no brainer.... if u don't like those games, than this is probably not yours :) wish u all the best and thanks for your kind words!
@@HatterM111 Cool, yeah those aren't my favorite games, but I know plenty who love them so I will definitely tell them about this!
@@successfulgeek Thanks a lot 🙂🖤
I've been waiting for this game for a long while! The art looks amazing but I can't say I'm a little disappointed at the lack of miniatures 😆
Acrylstandees are the new miniatures ;)
@@HatterM111 But... you can't paint these "acrylstandees"... well you could, I guess you can draw smiley face on them 😆
I never liked acrylic standees, I much prefer buying full-scaled figure models. It's all about the 3D feel in the hand!
@@nekochen I am also a painter, I feel u. But u know what? We are a small publisher... we have no clue about create miniature... so before we design lame looking minis, we do something we can: work with our Artwork ;) Maybe in the future, who knows... but not in this campaign ^^
I watched gameplay of this and had no idea what was going on lol.
Haha, the gameplay loop is pretty straightforward but it definitely makes more sense when you're in the thick of it. Basically, move, interact, vote, repeat.
