    Its called a cafe racer because after he tells you the price you need to sit down and have a strong coffee.

    • @sbsb4995

      scanspeak00 that is right. The build is too expensive. It's non sense. Rubbish. I hope they go bankrupt. He is too greedy.

      XD HAH. why buy this thing when you can just build your own from a real vintage bike for like 4,000!

    Jay asked what the English think of the Brighton. I can't speak for any other Brits but I always loathed the square fuel tank that Triumph stuck on the T150V. The T160V was a real beauty but it was too little, too late. If I had $37k to wave around I think I'd rather spend it on a Colorado Norton Works Commando - a machine put together the way it always should have been. It's such a pleasure to see Jay Leno indulging himself in his garage. He's a real enthusiast who lives the dream for us mere spectators. A true petrol-head film star! Thank you.

    You know, I have been around 'vintage' bikes all my life and I just want to say to those naysayers out there: "Get a life!" Build your own customs, instead of passing judgement on a man who has gone out of his way (and has also financially helped many people by buying and restoring these bikes) to help preserve some of the most significant mechanical art ever built. I for one send you KUDOS, Jay! Thank you for saving so many awesome mechanical marvels, and especially for sharing them with everyone all the time. You've worked tirelessly promoting vintage iron. God bless you. BC
    PS: The modern brit racers are awesome. I know they sing when you twist the wick, and knowing you, the cranks are offset 76 degrees or so! Thanks again Jay. bc

    Hey Jay- another Englishman here. Always been a huge Triumph fan and have had many of the 60's & 70's Thunderbirds/Bonnies/Trophys & Tigers. These new twins have really captured the spirit of the early bikes without the oil leaks and unreliablity. Champions Moto's upgrades look beautiful (particularly liked the one on the left, the flat tracker one) but wow, what a price!!!!

    Great bikes. So frustrating to live in Germany where bikes are only allowed to sound like little sewing machines nowadays (but you can ride faster - o. k.). Especially the real road bike is unbelievable beautiful! Definitely would like to have one. The raw tracker is also a highlight! Realy extreme interpretation of the new Bonneville. These motor-cycles all look fantastically tasty. My own experience when comparing old, nostalgic, motor-cycles to their new modern replicas, is you always find out what a piece of crap the old thing is by comparison.
    By comparison I said.
    Technology for improving things - engines, frames, brakes!!! e t c - has come leaps and bounds since the 60's, 70's and 80's.
    The old stuff is/was great in its own right - just don't compare it 1 to 1.
    F i the so called classics that are raced along the Isle of Man at the superb Manx GP are basically all new bikes (parts have been replaced AND improved), however they look the same as they always did.
    Drum brakes on a modern bike? Great, just don't go "trying" to much as power will fade really soon - by comparison. Always by comparison...
    Enough ranting. These bikes LOOK great!!!

  • @hirundine
    @hirundine 10 лет назад +1

    The "mod thing" Mr Leno. Was about wearing suits, while riding. When you got where you were going; off came the anorak and the Italian suit was still pristine. No heavy duty boots and leather jackets, etc. That's why the Lambrettas and Vespas were so popular. Once the Hondas became so endemic, the scooters lost appeal. For a person could ride a motorcycle and not find a pool of oil underneath. Most mods were British urbanites and the fashions then were more important, than the mode of transport. I had both scooters and bikes. My first bike was Triumph Tiger Cub. After that a few more different bikes and scooters, until I started driving a car. A working class kid, I earned money, to pay for them. My Dad loved me but he did not buy them for me. Yes, he helped and worked on them with me, but I bought them. Mods liked Ska, Rock Steady, Motown and bands like the Who. Rockers were still listening to Elvis, Cliff and Shadows. But that was early to mid-sixties and eventually they became, just youth. Youth always tries to be different.

      I have the Conti GT. Paid less than $6k for it. Since then I've invested less than $3k in performance parts. My wrench tells me that when I get it back out of the shop it will be a real screamer. Should be able to do a "ton" and a whole lot more when he's through with it. Good part is, if I blow the engine I can get a new stock one real cheap.

    • @IanCaine4728
      @IanCaine4728 7 лет назад +2

      Met a guy with a Royal Enfield on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, he had really good things to say and the fit and finish was spot on, it was a Continental GT. If you look up the plant's history, they imported a lot of tooling from the UK, along with engineers to train the Indians to make them exactly like the UK versions. Apparently, they've basically been using the identical methods with cloned tooling ever since, because the labor price is still stable for a direct-labor intensive production set up. And that's not marketing hype, a couple enthusiasts online (nerdy engineers) were comparing tolerances to 1960's models for fun and found the QC is still pretty much the same. No innovation, but that's kinda the point in this case, eh? And for the price point, I may pick one up.
