    This is one of the coolest bikes I've ever seen. The front end, the turn signal mirrors, the electronic start, the custome tool and holder, everything about it is awesome. Jay Leno is the man and I love this show but I wish he wouldn't have interrupted when Mike was talking about the engineering aspects. It would have been interesting to hear more about casting methods and such.

    • @303Hammy
      @303Hammy 4 года назад +5

      I asked him... "No I did not see a Leno program on them. I believe they originally planned to make money, but it's easy to have things get away from you! It's an interesting design and very arty, but honestly not one I would have made. That's not a negative, it's just that my engineering style has always been obsessed with function. All the radical stuff I did was to make something functionally better."

    • @colubrinedeucecreative
      @colubrinedeucecreative 4 года назад +1

      @@303Hammy Hmm, interesting! "Functionally better" I think is debatable, don't you? I am sure he caught a lot of flak over the years for those huge air intakes, so that probably didn't help. The front fairing probably had a huge aerodynamic benefit, as well as I would guess the lights being far superior to the Ronin's. As well as the tail, again, not sure about the aerodynamics, but I would guess that the DOT really push for the safety lights to be at the four corners, which is probably not something post production Ronins had to worry about. What do you think?

    I love this bike! It's stripped down, lightened with Carbon Fiber, and it's well engineered and sorted out. I've seen the comments about it being too expensive for what it is, but it's a one off and very limited edition run. Sure, you can buy a Kawi H2 or Aprilia Tuono for a lot less, but it's an American bike through and through. Erik Buell is an innovator. Imagine what he could have done without having to use Sportster engines for all those years; and Magpul did a great job with the design and function on this bike. 147 hp and 400 lbs is a good combination. The rake and trail on this bike make it a great handling machine. Granted, it there are two handfuls of bikes that will blow it away on the dragstrip, but most above average riders will be doing their best to wring all the power out of it.
    I think it's a shame that America doesn't have a company that makes great sportbikes. If I had the cash to buy one of these bikes, I'd buy in a New York minute.

    i think the logic behind the perimeter brake is that it applies more torque on the wheel because the tangential force is being applied a greater distance from the center of the wheel. so you get to save weight by only having one big disc and small caliper instead of two small discs and two small calipers.
    also the radiator and light placement is really cool. i really like those headlights.

    I rode a V Rod and was very impressed by the engine, it deserved to be wrapped in something better than pick one of 4 identical models (?). I rode an 1125, it must have been a bad one, low revs rattled and high revs buzzed, I liked the XB12R Firebolt much better. On the 1125 I spent the whole ride trying to convince myself it wasn't the motorbike it was me. No such problem with the Firebolt I bonded with it right away. The best part of the 1125 was getting back on my ZX9R for the ride home.

    What an incredibly cool bike! Like something Judge Dredd would ride in the Mega City of the future in 2139. :)
    Wish I had money to buy one, I would do it in a heartbeat! :(
    We need a Judge Dredd remake with this bike! Everyone who agrees, hit the thumbs up!

    these things are sick they look like something out of Akira! I'd love to have one but as of 2021 I have only seen 1 for sale, it was number 7 out of 47 and it was going for 75grand so I guess I'm not going to be getting my hands on one any time soon.

      They have some for sale on their website but the cheapest is $50k. I don’t understand their pricing system at all. Some were $38k and some are $100k but they are the same bikes.

    Looks great, could use a mini windscreen on top of the radiator though.

    Interesting look. Good timing since the premier of Mad Max is this coming weekend.
