Sounds Great! I'm from Springfield and my dad (I'm 66 years old) worked for Indian. Polaris has built an Indian with the soul and spirit of the original. Beautiful!

Only my opinion but I think these are the most beautiful new bikes on the road. Comfort is also very important. Generally you don't ride for 10 minutes and go back home, if you love bikes then you'll be on one for hours at a time and the more comfortable the ride, the better you'll feel at the end of it all and that matters too.

Watching this in 2022 thinking, “why why why did they discontinue the Chief Vintage and Chieftain Classic?” Those are what made the brand stand out, imo.

That's just what I've been asking. Downsizing the frame & calling it a superchief doesn't cut it for me. I bought a used 2014 Vintage. There are still some out there but very few because most don't want to get rid of a good thing once they found it. .

The night before I pick up my new Chieftian....
Cant sleep. I am in LOVE and I can't wait to take possession of my new 2014. 8 months of personal research, blogs, you tube and you name it, I researched this decision day and night, took endless visits to see how the other bikes size up. I am convinced I brought the right bike for. 16 hours to go..........i will do a you tube video as soon as I can after 1000 miles. Cant wait, at 54 I feel like a kid on christmas night looking out the window for Santa!

I think American manufacturers - blue and white collared - have always taken pride in their work, especially in the automobile and motorcycle industries. Else why would they have built cars with fins and motorcycles with steel-disc wheels? It was American capitalists and stockholders who sold them out, turned the Steel Belt into the Rust Belt.

Jay seems to be able to give sincere compliments about a million little details few other people would ever catch.
I used to dislike these old-fashioned streamlined heavy clunky looking bikes but after seeing a few really nice examples of Jay's and at shows, it sorta makes you reconsider your long-held opinions sometimes. Love the look of some of the new Indian bikes, especially the badass matte finish Scouts.

First I wanna say.....I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Jay Leno. Funny (of course), classy- but down-to-earth, and more knowledge of almost ANYthing mechanical. I could listen to him expound on a variety of car and bike subjects for HOURS at a time. LOVE his show and his collection- and what he's done to promote bikes and preserve history deserves a TON of credit!! Just LOVE this GUY!! And this Indian video. Love the new engine, too- but STILL like my '03 Gilroy Spirit Roadmaster Deluxe......BETTER!!!

I bought a Indian Roadmaster Dec 2017. Traded my Ultra Classic and some cash. This bike is the best handling big bike I've ever rode. I always loved the style since the first I ever saw back in the early 70s. The bike is awesome over all. For a touring bike, performance is tremendous.

I'm a hardcore Kawi guy and longtime cruiser hater (especially harley)... BUT i recently had the opportunity to hop on and ride a Indian Chieftain Classic and i was in love with it. The bike is gorgeous and man does it pull... I'm still an ADV rider but if i were ever going to delve into the cruiser world the Indian would be the only choice in my book... I was especially impressed with the quiet idle and smooth idle of the engine and just now quiet the whole machine was at WOT from a stand still and WOT on the road... you get on the Indian and it just oozes quality and craftsmanship...

I have a 2014 black Chieftain. I've had it just over a year now. I've put 17,000 miles on it (no issues). I've added Bassani pipes that sound great. This bike has f--king torque galore. I'm adding a performace air filter & remap next week at my local Indian dealer. If your not ready to trade, then do not test ride a new Indian, because it will cost you up to $23,000.

I've been riding a '99 1100cc Virago for about 12 years now. It is bulletproof with huge torque and handles beautifully on Avon Cobras. Dragging the pegs is no problem. Nor is floating the gears. If I ever decide to upgrade there's only one place left to go...Indian.
PS- It took everything I had to not take a shot at H-Ds in the above.

I rode a Chief Vintage at a demo ride in Columbus, Ohio. My wife was on back. Indians are wonderful machines with beautiful engines. My wife and I have rode 300,000 miles in the last 23 years on various machines, but the Indian is by far the nicest machine we ever rode. What Jay needs to do is take his wife a ride. I currently own a Harley, but I don't know if it will start without my wife on back.

Just took delivery on my 2014 Chieftain just over a week ago. I've put 800 miles on it during the week. I've had Victory, H-D, rice-burners, but the Chieftain is without a doubt the best bike I've ever ridden. I'm positive that my Victory XR that I traded in would beat the Indian in a drag race, but the low-end torque of the Indian motor is unbelievable! IF YOU'RE NOT READY TO TRADE FOR A NEW BIKE, THEN DO NOT TEST-RIDE AN INDIAN!!!!!!

My granddad had an Indian bike (not sure of the exact model) after he returned from service in the marines WWII Pacific era and I have pics of him & his bike. I think it was a SuperChief? Anyway, they have a great history & certainly glad to hear that Indian Motorcycle is back & hopefully this time around for good! Nicely done ,Jay. I took six test rides during the Sturgis Rally and I ended up riding the Classic three times because I liked it the best. They're solid, handle well, and the engine pulls like a tank! I, like you, have been riding since the '60s and I've owned four H-Ds (still have a RoadGlide) and I ride a Moto Guzzi California most of the time, now. I think the RoadGlide will be traded in this year and I'm torn between the Indian Classic, Moto Guzzi Cali1400, and the Triumph Thunderbird (which I have yet to ride). Keep up the good work on the reviews. You make them entertaining and they're a good reference point for those of us who can't ride all the bikes that you can.

The 2015 models to me resemble the old classics much more, and just have a cleaner sleeker look to them. Very glad Polaris has resurrected them.

Nice vid Jay ! I understand that you have such a massive internet audience along with intelligent insight on cars and motorcycles that companies want you to plug their stuff . Which should be flattering , I would also like to hear some of the negatives as well which there are , thanks .

Love this channel and all the historic machines! I do feel, however that design for the sake of nostalgia is one of the curses of modern engineering.

...sometimes they got it right the first time (considering how many millions of hours went by after the first design was road-tested!)

Great review Jay. Guess this is your post tonight show occupation motivating us knuckleheads to buy cool stuff. I appreciate the way you break a bike down 360 (all angles), engineering, esthetics , performance, ergonomics, pricing etc... Might have to test ride an Indian now... Thank you for this.

My dad's 2003 Scout in white with an S&S motor was the most beautiful bike he'd ever own. It was just always in the shop... 💔

My Father had two of these, without the sidecar. He had bought them from a NY police auction and his employer had allowed him to use the shop tools to work on them while he was a "greasemonkey" That was the late '40's

I love this bike. Makes me want to get back into motorcycling again. A new classic in the making. Also, I wonder if it would be possible to make a flathead engine now that is efficient? The valvetrain would certainly be less complicated. I love the sound of flatheads, especially the Ford V8 and old Harleys.

Mr. Leno. I lived in Burbank for over 30 years, and use to see you at the Aero-Books before they moved. I consider myself a motorcyclist first, and a human being second. I once had an entire fleet of 12 classic motorcycles, and they all were registered and rode often...(Let's see, think I'll take the '71 CL350 to work today.) I've lived in Los Angeles all my life, grew up in Silverlake.
I've been on two wheels before I could walk, bicycles, mini-bikes, motorcycles. My last bike was a 2005 Buell City-Cross that I ever fire roaded above the Tujunga wash. The Valley, Burbank, LA are all very dangerous places for a motorcyclist. Especially when you put lots of time in the saddle, the risk goes up. Your luck runs out.
Please be careful out there, stay in Angeles Crest on the week days or someplace similar. After 39 years of riding., also a intermediate open class desert racer (87 CR500R ported) I was rear ended by a suburban, and killed. Triage at UCLA brought me back. The accident broke both me and the Buell in half. I'm now confined to a chair.

A buddy of mine has the 2018 springfield, and what a gorgeous bike. 4 of us went on a bike trip and his was the one that grabbed all the attention from people. Why would Jay suggest putting the key fob in the seat, than anyone could jump on the bike and piss off with it.

I have a 48chief and love it. I am with Jay that the last 2 Indian owners came up with a big zero on their bikes. These new ones are a winner. Have a 2015 Springfield Blue/ Cream ordered. Come in next week. Really looking forward to having one. Indian is back to stay I must say

Mark D. Gilroy and K.M. were good bikes; the issue was they were out of my price range. I now have a Chieftain after decades of thinking I would never be able to afford an Indian.

A few weeks back, I test rode a few Indians at a demo event and came away impressed. I don't care for the cruiser posture in general, so my complaints about the bike center around that and aren't directed to the quality of the bike. I could put in some miles on the open road on one of the Chieftains or Roadmasters.
