Thank you so much for your videos Paul; I appreciate the effort and you so freely sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Paul. Not only are you a master modeler, but a great director. This video is reminds me of old instructional films, it presents the information in a clear and succinct manner.
I couldn't agree more!
Thanks, Paul. I'm bewildered by the current range of acrylic lacquers and this video helped me to understand them a bit better.
Excellent overall introduction to air brushing various paints.
Thanks Dr. Budzick. Your vids are always informative and thorough.
As always the doctor is taking it to the Nth degree. You must have done fantastic work in your profession. No wonder your models endeavor skill and accuracy, beautiful work. I gleaned several points from this post , the needle and shapes were quite interesting to me. Thank you again.
I remember that Iwata ad with the cutaway Viper illustration. :)
Another excellent video thanks Paul 👍
Thanks Paul, looking forward to the next edition.
Always look forward to your videos!
What an interesting video. I’m looking forward to the next. This came after a day of frustration with my airbrush clogging up with Vallejo paints and not being able to thin it correctly.
Paul, I love your video's and this one was no exception - your explanation is very transparent! (Bad pun, I know....)
thank you so much, very clear and precise presentation
thank you very much for your videos. very informative.
Thank you very much to share your kwnoledge and wisdom 🙂👍 you are awsome.
Very informative ! Tks
I think I shall ask more than one thing. With what paint does fine tip = fine line + best excellent adhesion? With what paint does it not? Are there additives, specifically those like Createx’s balancing clear and 4012 acrylic reducer that effectively mitigate the old bugaboo of poor adhesion from excess thinning with water and other “hot” acrylic thinners? Is the use of additional air pressure with large pigment sized, highly thinned paint to get it out of the gun counter-productive? Which paints promote better adhesion with a light first coat and which can be sprayed with a full, first coat? Those are some of my unsolved mysteries. Have at it teach.
For primers, the solvent itself biting into the surface and the solvent evaporation method of binding pigments is why all primers worth using are lacquer based, right? And the reliance on mere crosslinking of polymers is why acrylic primers never have the desired characteristics, e.g. durability, sandability, etc.? Every few years I hear about a new acrylic primer in the modelling world with a fair bit of hype around it, but I've always assumed that acrylics will essentially form a crosslinked polymer "skin" over the surface with no etching of the surface at all.
Good comment man. Without a solid primer layer, the rest is a waste of time!
Since you showed Humbrol in your video I'd like to ask what your opinion is on their enamel line?
Lately it seems like their paints curdle up when thinner is introduced.
I have tried a variety of thinners including Humbrol's own thinner, and in different measurements and consistently get curdling.
You sure know how to ahem...'paint' a picture! 😀
Nice comment!😉 Yeah, I suppose Paul is like the Bob Ross of the modelling world!
Hey Paul, nice name!
