The problem with Qimir though is how did he free himself, get his Sith outfit on, get to Kelnacca and kill him all before Mae got there? Edit: Just to clarify because people keep saying he used the force to free himself. Yeah I know that’s probably what he did. What I’m saying is it isn’t very believable he manage do ALL of that before she got there. Literally Kelnacca’s wound was still smoking so it was seconds before. The fungi cloud knocking her out would have been plausible but from what was shown that didn’t happen.
They cut out the Wookiee battle due to “budget” 😂..180 million You go to House of Dragons which has longer episodes, better sets, better CGI, better acting, better script, etc etc for about the same budget and they don’t need the heavy marketing acolyte pushed out and Dragons already killed Acolyte in reviews and views ship.. And yes it’s a female led cast and a very diverse cast…

Hi Meg - I wanted to give everyone here a little food for thought, if you don't mind. I was in single digits during the release of the original trilogy, and I absolutely loved it. The dearth of new Star Wars content after the Ewoks animated series ended in 1986 was what I considered a very dark time. I was approaching my 13th birthday when "Heir to the Empire" appeared at my local book shop, and I was ecstatic. When she saw how eager I was to read it, my grandmother got the hardcover book for me on my "big 13" as she called it. As the various stories were released over the years, I followed them ravenously (although I gave something of short shrift to the comics, until I read Dark Empire, but had no real interest in the Tales of the Jedi from Dark Horse, although I later enjoyed the audio dramas). In 2008, I finally started collecting figures again (Being introduced to the character of Lumiya fueled my interest when I found there was a figure for her). So, when I learned Disney was buying the franchise, and rumors were swirling of the EU's erasure, I was very upset. These were stories I had loved for many many years, and they formed an elaborate artwork of story tapestry previously unseen. Clone Wars was cancelled, to my dismay, and Disney said they were going in a new direction. I realized I had two choices - accept the change and try to enjoy it, or be like the negative-minded people (Star Wars Theory comes to mind) and just keep whining about it not being what I wanted. Then came Star Wars: Rebels, and my wife passed away unexpectedly, early in season 2 (she was only 40), and I was on the verge of lethal self-harm, but then in the Rebels episode "Legacy", Kanan told Ezra how his parents were alive inside him, and always would be. I realized that the same held true for my wife and me, and it gave me the inner strength to continue on. One could argue that Dave Filoni and his crew saved my life, and I wish I could thank him face to face. I loved seeing the new movies (Han, Chewie, Leia, and Luke were back, even if it wasn't the way I had hoped), especially Rogue One and Solo, and Rebels kept me going too. As the myriad live-action and animated shows continued coming out through Disney+, I realized that they were forming a new story tapestry, every bit as elaborate as the Legends timeline, perhaps a bit better, because Star Wars was always primarily a visual medium, and Disney had given us much more to go with than just the 7 movies (nine, if you count the Ewok movies), and four animated series (Droids, Ewoks, Star Wars: Clone Wars (2D), and Star Wars: The Clone Wars). One thing I also learned, based off of others' emotionally driven reactions, which mainly seemed to be anger because it wasn't what they wanted, I also learned to wait until a season/series finale before passing judgement on a new addition to the tapestry. I've also seen people say that Disney should have stuck to the Legends content and made that into visual. That would have been a way to go, but consider the downside to that approach. Disney would have been spending millions of dollars to retell stories that had already been told, and there was no guarantee that those adaptations would have been well received either. I recall seeing a lot of negative criticism about the "Legacy of the Force" and the "Fate of the Jedi" book series, for example. Additionally, they would also have been facing negative criticism from fans if those adaptations weren't exactly what they expected. And there would have been no thrill of newness either. Given how Solo, Indy, and Willow flopped and how most of their projects underperformed or got canceled before they even got into production, some accountability would go a long way. They could re-edit their Kenobi and BoBF shows, and even make "special editions" of the sequels. Spending $100m on fixing their D+ shows and $100m on the sequels would be a better investment than more bad shows. I know they won't do any of this, though. Allowing Bryce to be deeply and directly involved in a Star Wars show or movie (mostly show) would be HUGE for Star Wars given her positive track record. It would be a very good decision for Disney to make due to all that’s going on now. I’ll make the division for Disney…..DO IT. lol.
Qimir Soze makes a lot of sense. It is telegraphed, but that's in part a reflection of the release schedule. It wouldn't have been as obvious if episodes 4 and 5 had been bundled together (which they clearly should have, for this and other reasons).
I would love to have an actual honest conversation with fans who “hate the disney era” of star wars, about what they are critical of and also what they enjoy. Because it cant all be hate. People liked Mando when it came out, and Rogue One/Andor remain pretty unanimous fan favorites. We love Hayden cause Hayden put in the work years ago and also in todays star wars. And his hard work shows wen he's fighting with lightsabers especially. It's like actors these days don't wanna put in the work anymore. Same reason fans like Carrie Ann Moss but not the acolyte. She put in the work and it shows wen compared to the other actors in the show

Bryce and Rick have consistently directed some of the best episodes (excluding ANDOR) to date for SW. If the Mandolorian is to be a movie trilogy, I'd love to see Bryce and Rick be given thr opportunity to direct a movie. As long as Jon & Dave write a cohesive storyline, divided into a trilogy. It can't just be 3 random films with no clear direction. We've suffered that disaster already, with the sequel trilogy.

I don’t know if she deserves it, but Bryce Dallas Howard is certainly more capable and experienced than other recent directors for Lucasfilm and would be a more fitting hire to direct a Star Wars film. She’s certainly a better option than obaid-chinoy, who’s only ever done activist documentaries. I’d also prefer her to do it collaboratively, as suggested in this video. They can hopefully keep each other in check and at least make something good.

If the writers and Leslye are all saying Smilo is a he, then this throws out suspicion on Vernestra, Aniseya, Koril, and Indara. Here’s my final guess: It’s going be *Darth* *Tenebrous.* It’s that simple. Leslye is taking stuff from EU/Legends. Prior to when the series started or before we saw Ep 2 which introduced Qimir, that was the assumption. Smilo Ren is going to be Plagueis’ master since Plagueis is still young around this time. I think guessing Qimir is the writers’ way of trying to divert us from guessing it’s Tenebrous. They’re using Qimir as their sleight of hand to make us guess wrong. Again, Qimir might be the acolyte but he’s not the Sith Lord or Smilo Ren. Qimir is too obvious of an answer. The writers are trying to sway us into thinking it’s Qimir by trying to make it look too obvious when it ends up being Tenebrous all along. The writers are fully aware their episodes gets dissected. Sol is going to die and Osha will find out his and the other Jedi roles in why all the magic sisters magically died when they were children.. The whole episode is going to be that backstory. Just don’t understand why they can’t find writers, producers, actors, etc that actually love Star Wars and know all the lure and want to enhance that feeling that made so many people fall in love with this franchise. Instead it just seems all they care about n is their diversity hires and their beliefs, who cares if they know or even like what they are making. As long as they check those beliefs and diversity check marks that is all that matters. Mean really shouldn’t be hard to find the people they want with their beliefs and diversity that do love the lure and have been fans with Star Wars. But it’s like that with every franchise today. So tired of hearing the writers, producers, actors etc say they know nothing about it but it’s about time their beliefs are now in the movie or show and they attack the people who made the franchise what it is by buying and following the franchise that gave them the $ to make these new shows. The biggest problem with these "shows" is that they are written as MOVIES and then just hacked up into pieces and released 1 per week. That is NOT how you make a good tv show. That is how you get a 25 minute walk and talk episode that ends on a pointless cliffhanger. Either release all the episodes so 7 of them don't feel crappy OR WRITE A TV SHOW like it is supposed to be done! If you want to make a good, satisfying, TV show, EVERY EPISODE has to have both a full plot AND a narrative thread tying it to the whole. Both Babylon 5 and The Expanse are prime examples of how to do a satisfying tv show episodically WITH a season long narrative arch.
I love The Acolyte so far BUT. this is a series you really need to see it ALL, before I can really give a real review. That said, I can't wait for the next episode.
I think the best thing to do would be to let a TON of different directors take Star Wars in the direction they see fit. Some will succeed and some will fail, so Disney can simply continue the successful ones. I would actually argue that The Acolyte has been more of a success in the storytelling sense than Obi-Wan Kenobi so they should give it another season or two to fully find its footing
I believe that the prequels got better because of clone wars animated series. That and when you have been feeding people shit it makes them reminisce about when they had a simple sandwich and how good it tasted.

Knowing Lesley Headland as we all do now, I'm betting the fact that she refers to Smilo Ren as a 'he' isn't because he's a male but because he's evil. In her mind, evil is a male thing so in her warped little post-Weinstein brain coupled with Kathleen Kennedy's views (remember 'The Force is Female'?) regarding the lack of women in Star Wars (which is wrong in and of itself) and such, ANYONE conducting evil is male. Personally, I think Smilo Ren should be Koril. Story wise that would make SO MUCH SENSE but I doubt either of these man hating women will place a woman in a purely evil position so it'll probably be Qimir or some other male. I'd even buy Venestra cause she's hella shady in this. OR... maybe I got it wrong... maybe she's purposely saying HIM and HE to get us off the sent of the more logical reveal being Koril or Venestra. Whoever made the choice to cut the Kelnacca fight scene should be fired. I've reserved judgement on the series as a whole but I don't need to see how the rest of it plays out to know that that scene would have improved the show, even if they had to shoehorn it into this episode.

The dearth of new Star Wars content after the Ewoks animated series ended in 1986 was what I considered a very dark time. I was approaching my 13th birthday when "Heir to the Empire" appeared at my local book shop, and I was ecstatic. When she saw how eager I was to read it, my grandmother got the hardcover book for me on my "big 13" as she called it. As the various stories were released over the years, I followed them ravenously (although I gave something of short shrift to the comics, until I read Dark Empire, but had no real interest in the Tales of the Jedi from Dark Horse, although I later enjoyed the audio dramas). In 2008, I finally started collecting figures again (Being introduced to the character of Lumiya fueled my interest when I found there was a figure for her). So, when I learned Disney was buying the franchise, and rumors were swirling of the EU's erasure, I was very upset. These were stories I had loved for many many years, and they formed an elaborate artwork of story tapestry previously unseen. Clone Wars was cancelled, to my dismay, and Disney said they were going in a new direction. I realized I had two choices - accept the change and try to enjoy it, or be like the negative-minded people (Star Wars Theory comes to mind) and just keep whining about it not being what I wanted.
Then came Star Wars: Rebels, and my wife passed away unexpectedly, early in season 2 (she was only 40), and I was on the verge of lethal self-harm, but then in the Rebels episode "Legacy", Kanan told Ezra how his parents were alive inside him, and always would be. I realized that the same held true for my wife and me, and it gave me the inner strength to continue on. One could argue that Dave Filoni and his crew saved my life, and I wish I could thank him face to face. I loved seeing the new movies (Han, Chewie, Leia, and Luke were back, even if it wasn't the way I had hoped), especially Rogue One and Solo, and Rebels kept me going too. As the myriad live-action and animated shows continued coming out through Disney+, I realized that they were forming a new story tapestry, every bit as elaborate as the Legends timeline, perhaps a bit better, because Star Wars was always primarily a visual medium, and Disney had given us much more to go with than just the 7 movies (nine, if you count the Ewok movies), and four animated series (Droids, Ewoks, Star Wars: Clone Wars (2D), and Star Wars: The Clone Wars). One thing I also learned, based off of others' emotionally driven reactions, which mainly seemed to be anger because it wasn't what they wanted, I also learned to wait until a season/series finale before passing judgement on a new addition to the tapestry.
I've also seen people say that Disney should have stuck to the Legends content and made that into visual. That would have been a way to go, but consider the downside to that approach. Disney would have been spending millions of dollars to retell stories that had already been told, and there was no guarantee that those adaptations would have been well received either. I recall seeing a lot of negative criticism about the "Legacy of the Force" and the "Fate of the Jedi" book series, for example. Additionally, they would also have been facing negative criticism from fans if those adaptations weren't exactly what they expected. And there would have been no thrill of newness either. Anyways, that's all I wanted to say. You're welcome to use any part of this for discussion in your videos if you wish. May the Force be with you!

Lucasfilm could really repair the fandom between now and Skeleton Crew if they would admit they got their marketing wrong on most of their projects and showed a little humility. Given how Solo, Indy, and Willow flopped and how most of their projects underperformed or got canceled before they even got into production, some accountability would go a long way. They could re-edit their Kenobi and BoBF shows, and even make "special editions" of the sequels. Spending $100m on fixing their D+ shows and $100m on the sequels would be a better investment than more bad shows. I know they won't do any of this, though. Allowing Bryce to be deeply and directly involved in a Star Wars show or movie (mostly show) would be HUGE for Star Wars given her positive track record. It would be a very good decision for Disney to make due to all that’s going on now. I’ll make the division for Disney…..DO IT. lol.
Qimir Soze makes a lot of sense. It is telegraphed, but that's in part a reflection of the release schedule. It wouldn't have been as obvious if episodes 4 and 5 had been bundled together (which they clearly should have, for this and other reasons).

I would love to have an actual honest conversation with fans who “hate the disney era” of star wars, about what they are critical of and also what they enjoy. Because it cant all be hate. Bryce and Rick have consistently directed some of the best episodes (excluding ANDOR) to date for SW. If the Mandolorian is to be a movie trilogy, I'd love to see Bryce and Rick be given thr opportunity to direct a movie. As long as Jon & Dave write a cohesive storyline, divided into a trilogy. It can't just be 3 random films with no clear direction. We've suffered that disaster already, with the sequel trilogy.

I don’t know if she deserves it, but Bryce Dallas Howard is certainly more capable and experienced than other recent directors for Lucasfilm and would be a more fitting hire to direct a Star Wars film. She’s certainly a better option than obaid-chinoy, who’s only ever done activist documentaries.
I’d also prefer her to do it collaboratively, as suggested in this video. They can hopefully keep each other in check and at least make something good.

The writers wants us to think it’s Qimir but it’s not going to be him. He’s a smoke screen. I think Qimir could be the acolyte using Mae to do his final task by killing a Jedi without a weapon but he’s not Smilo Ren. Rewatch that scene after Mae cried for help. And that powerful Force push off 8 Jedis by Smilo Ren is not something an acolyte can do.
If the writers and Leslye are all saying Smilo is a he, then this throws out suspicion on Vernestra, Aniseya, Koril, and Indara. Here’s my final guess: It’s going be *Darth* *Tenebrous.* It’s that simple. Leslye is taking stuff from EU/Legends. Prior to when the series started or before we saw Ep 2 which introduced Qimir, that was the assumption.
Smilo Ren is going to be Plagueis’ master since Plagueis is still young around this time. I think guessing Qimir is the writers’ way of trying to divert us from guessing it’s Tenebrous. They’re using Qimir as their sleight of hand to make us guess wrong. Again, Qimir might be the acolyte but he’s not the Sith Lord or Smilo Ren.
Qimir is too obvious of an answer. The writers are trying to sway us into thinking it’s Qimir by trying to make it look too obvious when it ends up being Tenebrous all along. The writers are fully aware their episodes gets dissected. Remember when fans last year thought Marrok would be Starkiller? Everyone guessed wrong.

If that's what Leslie thinks is going to pull the heartstrings of Star Wars fans (especially the more casual ones), she's probably in for a disappointment.

Just don’t understand why they can’t find writers, producers, actors, etc that actually love Star Wars and know all the lure and want to enhance that feeling that made so many people fall in love with this franchise. Instead it just seems all they care about n is their diversity hires and their beliefs, who cares if they know or even like what they are making. As long as they check those beliefs and diversity check marks that is all that matters. Mean really shouldn’t be hard to find the people they want with their beliefs and diversity that do love the lure and have been fans with Star Wars. But it’s like that with every franchise today. So tired of hearing the writers, producers, actors etc say they know nothing about it but it’s about time their beliefs are now in the movie or show and they attack the people who made the franchise what it is by buying and following the franchise that gave them the $ to make these new shows. Makes no sense.
The biggest problem with these "shows" is that they are written as MOVIES and then just hacked up into pieces and released 1 per week. That is NOT how you make a good tv show. That is how you get a 25 minute walk and talk episode that ends on a pointless cliffhanger. Either release all the episodes so 7 of them don't feel crappy OR WRITE A TV SHOW like it is supposed to be done!
If you want to make a good, satisfying, TV show, EVERY EPISODE has to have both a full plot AND a narrative thread tying it to the whole. Both Babylon 5 and The Expanse are prime examples of how to do a satisfying tv show episodically WITH a season long narrative arch.
I love The Acolyte so far BUT. this is a series you really need to see it ALL, before I can really give a real review. That said, I can't wait for the next episode.

I think the best thing to do would be to let a TON of different directors take Star Wars in the direction they see fit. Some will succeed and some will fail, so Disney can simply continue the successful ones. I would actually argue that The Acolyte has been more of a success in the storytelling sense than Obi-Wan Kenobi so they should give it another season or two to fully find its footing

Knowing Lesley Headland as we all do now, I'm betting the fact that she refers to Smilo Ren as a 'he' isn't because he's a male but because he's evil. In her mind, evil is a male thing so in her warped little post-Weinstein brain coupled with Kathleen Kennedy's views (remember 'The Force is Female'?) regarding the lack of women in Star Wars (which is wrong in and of itself) and such, ANYONE conducting evil is male.
