Been meaning to film this tutorial for the looongest time! With us entering the new year and all, thought it was bout bluddy time! How has the first month of everyone's year been?
Just a quick tip for those who are new... Paper with smoother surfaces or glue glazes (such as Canson Monval) can be much more difficult to get a smooth wash if you haven't had much experience in handling water, as water runs more haphazardly on those surfaces. In the video, the patches on the wash slowly disappear as the paper dry, because the paint distribute quite easily. But on a smoother surface, that's not the case. Also, smooth paper tends to leave harder edges, more extreme cauliflower effects, and watermarks everywhere. So I suggest experimenting with a few types of paper, or watch carefully the videos which review them. If you are going for an acute watercolor effect for your work, and you have a little bit more experience, then smooth paper or glue glazed paper can be very interesting and fun to work with.
It's always a pleasure to see your videos, full of art and joy, but it's more pleasure to see you well and having a great time painting. I'm really happy to know that you're getting better, but if you need time to relax and heal, take your time; I'm a big fan of yours, so don't you feel bad for not uploading a video when you're not in the mood. Be calm, be happy, be good with yourself.
so nice to see you. Not a lot of artists come back to make youtube videos once they are famous like you! I look forward to seeing more watercolor technique tutorials from you.
It's nice to have you back painting and sharing your expertise! Hope you are feeling well after your time out, and you really don't need apologise for taking a break!
I love your voice, and I love your art! Your watercolor tutorials make me so excited about this medium (and I love it sm but I'm terrified of it cause it can get ruined so fast) so thank you for uploading these!
This was so helpful and relaxing to watch. Your explanations are great & simple. Makes me want to return to try watercolor more instead of feeling intimidated.
Please Please Please Please be active in you tube all your techniques and other videos are so use full and inspiration toooo So happy to see you and listen to your voice 😍😍😍
For someone whos been doing watercolor for years, I really enjoy how digestible and organized this video is. I think its great that you covered such an array of techniques and pointers, and some of the techniques you mentioned I could never really put into exact words. Definitely going to recommend this video to my friends who want to start watercolors :)
Hieu is so charming! One of my favorite wet techniques is to throw salt onto that medium wet paint, it makes this weird, localized burst of negative space with a center of color.
you inspire me everyday with my watercolors. before i found your channel i was so intimidated by watercolors. but watching you over the years had built my confidence so much in my watercolor that I found that watercolors are my fav medium to use. so thank you.
So glad to see you back on YT! That's funny a couple months ago I've started watercolor and your video on wet on dry technique taught me a lot. For a couple of weeks I've been experimenting wet on wet and with this video you've confirmed what I thought I understood, that's now much clearer thanks !
This is SO helpful. I can’t remember when I subscribed to you, but when I saw this video pop up in my subscriptions, I was incredibly happy I could learn more about watercolor techniques. God bless you!
Thank you so much for introducing your matierials and tools in such details.after following many different watercolor online tutorial videos in different languages, I feel your demonstration is the best, and I can always achieve the closest result.
This is rlly fun, even when I was back in art class it was more of a follow you’re own projects and the teachers would give advice, tips and direction. Which was rlly freeing and great, but it’s nice to be given some simple exercises to practice and seeing some nice results
