@@Painless360 Thank you for responding. The most basic missions I think we all know how to do although it wouldn't be bad to go over them, because just like in this video, there are always things you miss or forget. Then there are more complex missions such as joining several zones or polygons, KML's, different types of missions and joining them, multiple battery flights, complex geo-fences, multiple POIs, ROI's, autonomous takeoffs and landings with fixed wings or VTOLS, the different parameters of the missions especially those that are used very little, jumps in the missions (I do not know if you can make conditional jumps ), terrain tracking, flying an interrupted mission for any reason from a halfway point or a mission resume, etc, Getting more and more complicated. eeeeeeeeeee I'm sorry, and I'm sure I left a lot of stuff along the way. All focused on being eminently practical.
After a lot of searching, the documentation is very basic, you find yourself in situations that are really hard to solve and probably not in the most optimal way or you just don't know how to solve it and knowing how powerful is Mission Planner and Ardupilot, it is difficult to accept a defeat. Many times you get very important information and advice from the video answers, or from seeing how someone else solves the same problems differently. It makes you grow and have a much more advanced knowledge that otherwise is very difficult to get.
You want to do a complex mission, that's the challenge, you cut it into smaller parts, solve the parts and get it done is often difficult and force to do more than one mission, when having the concepts clear, although it takes work, you can optimize a lot and most importantly, being methodical and knowing well the tools you have, try to reduce to 0 all the failures that can cost you lose the aircraft or simply fail to do the mission.
There is really not much information available for what I am commenting, this video is a clear example of everything we are missing. Besides, I'm sure more than one of the guys who watch these videos will raise questions about missions that they haven't been able to solve or aren't sure if they've done it in the best possible way.
I'm sorry, I'm sure I'm asking or suggesting too much, but I'm sure many of us would be delighted with something similar even if it's much less than what I've mentioned. As little as it is, grateful for your great work, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

The RF Map is really nice. Before I was doing my own kml files by drawing a cone on the map to check the radio antennas are in line of sight. This is a lot better. It shows up when you start flying or run the sim. I set convergance to 15, range 6.5km(my dji hd fpv max range), base 2m as I run from almost sea height. Really nice. Is it possible to setup waypoints for a fixed wing mission where you can make a plane fly inverted? How about fly at 45 degree or vertical upline or downline? I am looking for a tool, to make a 3D plane do basic acrobatics. I am starting by figuring out what Arudpilot can do including extensibility through code. I am a programmer, but in other areas. Also looking into basic Arduino gyro code. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so I wonder where I could find a project, if there is one, to "plan acrobatic fixed wing missions".

Hello, I have a few questions for the hive mind :)
    1) Does the plane (Mini Talon) need to be connected to MP before going into Sim mode, so it can read the configs or can I just load the param and waypoint files into the sim?
    2) When setting up a totally 26 mile autonomous flight over rolling hills, with terrain following enabled and sometimes out of reach of my Dragonlink and MavLink, how can you pre-load all the waypoints and terrain data, so it doesn't crash into the side of a hill or mountain? I did download all the tiles for the mission, but it doesn't seem that data is sent to the Pix prior to takeoff.
    3) Also, how can I simulate this in MP? After watching Painless's video and then fooling with it all day, I haven't been able to figure out how to actually start the mission. I use the takeoff command and waypoints thereafter, but what initiates the sim flight after placing it into auto mode?
    4) Another nagging question, when going into Sim mode, I get a Bad Gyro Health message, which doesn't go away, which in turn causes an error condition when arming the sim.. How can that be remedied ?
    and
    5) What SD card is recommended? I have an extra 32G SD card, but will the pix recognize one that large?
All assistance would be much appreciated..
Many thanks in advance, your vids are always top notch.. :)

Hi all, I'm trying to map a series of almost vertical cliffs in a remote area for which there is only Google Earth imagery. I am looking for a DJI-compatible flight planning app which would allow me to set a survey grid that's tilted in space, with the drone's camera pointing at a set angle towards the cliff face. The same idea as vertical grid flying, which is good for buildings (e.g. Drone Deploy), but tilted at, e.g. 75 degrees. "Terrain following" is not really an option given the absence of reliable elevation data, the steepness and the small spatial scales I'm dealing with. Any insight is very much appreciated!

Hi Lee, once again thanks for your great videos! Now I'm really looking forward to build my first wing using chibios boards!
If i may ask a question, which one would you recommend for a build? The f405 wing or the new f765 wing? Im thinking of adding more and more features in the future and currently going to run yaapu telemetry on my t16 through rx4r receiver. I'm a bit discouraged to do the hack or create the telemetry converter as the readymade converter cable is not available anywhere in my country. And in this situation i hope i dont have to order one from another country.

@@FPVREVIEWS I have only used Matek boards. The ones I have used with Arduplane have been the F405 boards. I haven't tried a Pixhawk mostly because of my struggles with Arduplane and Matek is more affordable.

Its worth the extra work to get arduplane working. Arduplane will fly a poorly tuned plane, Inav will crash it.

My experiences with Arduplane last year have all been excellent and exceeded my expectations. It's just different from other systems so you need to learn the new setup process. It's all covered in detail in the wikli and my builds from last year show every step and how easy it is to set it up now. Arduplane is so complete, a nice example of how slick Arduplane can be is that it can automatically set the servo midpoints for level flight automatically as it flies in a stabilise mode so you don't need to trim when you want to fly in manual mode. Clever eh?

somehow that secret to select the aircraft/vehicle is not showing up in my latest Mission Planner... 😞

This is why I date my videos. Things change, and a video from three years ago will often refer to things that have subsequently been changed. Happy flying

I have followed everything on the video but arming the mission fails. What could be wrong.

I'm 65. Just got my first Arduino kit. Crashed my Blade 350qx several years ago on flight 3 and that was it. Now I want to give it a good old retirement Go. Thanks so much for the amazing tutorials from the few guys I've chosen to be my mentors. Any blog recommendations would be appreciated. or kbinbcc@yahoo.com

I am not a fan of the blogs as too many of them are full of trolls and armchair experts who can confuse new builders and pilots. Best of luck with your new engagement with the hobby and best wishes for your retirement!

      Thankyou. I am actually
relieved you feel that way. All this social computer stuff is too much too. It is almost midnight and I am on your third or fourth vid of the evening. That ArduPlanner vid makes me wish I started this when it first intrigued me years ago. My how to build a drone BOOK is here on Tuesday,
