    Oh the tip with the razor for piling is so good! Does that make the fabric wear out over time as well though?

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  24 дня назад

      No it does not.
      You are basically shaving off the little balls that are accumulating from mini fibers being pulled out from the friction.
      They come right off like a pieces of loose string would.
      Clean and simple..

    Thanks for breaking this down! I’m trying to stick to natural fabrics like cotton and wool. Any tips on eco-friendly sofa brands?

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      You’re welcome
      I would recommend searching around online and reading customer reviews .
      Eco-friendly is a very specific segment, and there are a lot of imposters out there .
      I’ve not purchased this product nor sold it so I can’t recommend it, but I know there are several options out there, including hemp and bamboo .

    I love leather sofas for their durability, but I agree they’re not the most inviting. Any recommendations for warm leather tones that still feel cozy?

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      A softer leather like a full aniline will be the most inviting to the touch.
      Tone usually means color which will not help the feel.
      The type of leather, cushion construction and temperature of the room is what will set the comfort.

    Does vinyl actually last as long as leather? I dunno... had a vinyl couch and it started chipping off after a few years. Had to get rid of it after a short while... or what it "pleather"? This is confusing...

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      Vinyl does not last as long as leather. Not even close.
      It’s basically a thin layer of liquid plastic applied over a fabric backing.
      It can crack due to exposure to extended periods of heat or bodily fluids like sweat that can were away the protective coating.
      Leather is a skin and natural so it’s much stronger.

    How much work does it take to maintain leather though? I've always wanted leather couches but I got told they can dry out and start to look kind of faded and scratched?

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      Good top grain leather does not require much maintenance.
      As long as it’s not sitting in direct sunlight you are good to go and it should last at least 15-20 years or more.
      Damp cloth and a wipe down or leather saddle soap will for the trick.
      You could also use a conditioner if you want but read the labels.

    Okay I'm a little confused because it looked like Cotton and Rayon were basically the same thing? Is it just that cotton is like a natural version of it?

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  29 дней назад

      @@iamaspacefreak many of these articles once’s they are processed look the same.
      But cotton is a natural material grown in a field and Rayon is made from pulp fibers, sometimes wood pulp and is heavily processed.
      Cotton absorbs staines easier that Rayon.

    Is there a fabric that’s completely pet-proof? My cats scratch everything, and I’m desperate for a solution.

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      I am not aware of a fabric that can withstand cat claws. They will even scratch leather but leather can easily be repaired.
      Animal training or scratch towers may help.

    Which fabric is best for families with kids and pets? I want something that’s durable but still comfy. PS: Sorry if you did mention it in the video and I missed it. I blame the kids running around :)

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      I think a protected leather would be number one.
      Number two would be a polyester favor or a microfiber that had a good backing to it, feels a bit thicker.
      These are great options for kids because they are cleanable and strong.

    Microfiber has to be one of the most unpleasant fabrics I've ever had to touch. Is that just me??

    • @chrisdroberts
      @chrisdroberts  Месяц назад

      I have not heard that. Most people say they like it because it’s soft.
