You are so kind, as a 76 yr old widow I see things going bad on my home that I just can’t repair. It breaks my heart! We loved or home and took excellent care of it. We always worked together each using their talents and skills. Now it’s just me! Seniors across the world will face these problems. Kindness and understanding is so needed. Thank you both.

Yes, my parents are 86 and 82 and badly need home repairs. If I had the money I'd have these things fixed in a heartbeat but it's not there. They are raising a great grandson and deserves so much more! I thought of doing a GoFundMe but it would embarrass them to death and I'm up in arms as to what to do. Wishing you the best!!

You are so correct. I see this happening to me. Nobody cares anymore. My house needs some repair as well. Breaks my heart. It's a strong old house, survived hurricane Ida. It was built in 1950 out of cypress. I purchased land and had it moved here in 1993. I love old houses. You take care, someone will help you out @tommiejones1072.. There's still some good people left in this world. GOD BLESS YOU STAY SAFE.

@@marymisdom3955 Hi, I’m 78 (female) and just sold my free standing home to buy a villa..My home was built in 1987 so I knew it was going to cost me every year,,,so here I am in the villa. Great when you have a man or woman with the know how and money to maintain a home,,but especially when you get older it becomes very difficult..So proud of these two..I will be watching…👍🏼

We bought a run down double wide mobile home on 12 acres of land out in the country. We gutted the entire inside of the mobile home, floors, walls, windows, appliances, kitchen counters and cabinets, bathtubs, sinks, basically everything went except for the framing, which was in good shape. We also replaced the exterior walls of the home and insulated. It took us 6 months of hard work, but we now have, basically a brand new home that is paid for. We just added on a 4 car garage and a huge barn ( built on site by the Amish ). We paid 40k for the home and land, spent about 35k to remodel and it is now appraised for 170k.

I can tell by your tone you are excited for this project, and for that I’m happy for you. You deserve it. Regarding your decision to invest in something that you can make better with the skills you’ve developed is an excellent one. We’ve all seen what you and Ash can do. My husband and I have taken similar steps during our life, sometimes taking a chance, and by working together, we moved our self forward, financially. It takes guts to do what you’re doing. The icing on the cake for me was how you spoke of the previous owners with such compassion. I love your videos. I will watch with great interest what you do with this property. I’m excited to go for this ride along with you. Thanks for including us!

If anyone can tackle this project, it is you guys!!! I have known several people over the last few years who have invested in mobile home communities. They started with one and now have numerous properties that they rent or sell. They are making a ton of money!
They do all the work and maintenance themselves. They make a good living by providing decent properties to a socioeconomic class that is often left with poor renting or buying choices. Our communities need people like you!!! I'm so excited to watch this next phase of your project! Evertbody wins here!!!!

I'm going to add my 2 cents. I've done a lot of renovations, too many on mobile homes too.
    1. Get a stacked washer dryer
    2. Use the washer space for a better closet
    3. Take that small closet with vacuum out and make kids room bigger. Good for desk or dresser space inside the room.
    4. Get 3 mini-splits. Avoids ducting issues, is efficient and allows for heat and cooling in specific areas as needed.
    5. If you get new kitchen cabinets, maximum drawers, minimum doors in the lower cabinets. No bending and hunting in dark corners for a lost pot lid. I found ikea makes soft close standard and has every weird and odd size you need to maximise space, and about same price as big box stores who have less options.
    6. If you need to replace water heater get the instant one. Way more energy efficient, takes up almost no space and about the same price.
    7. That weird MBR closet...maybe remove and put in a ikea wall unit. Way more useful space, slimmer profile and easier access.

Sounds like a good project. My Dad used to fix up small properties in a lower middle class neighborhood and owner finance sell them. The banks didn’t want to fool with those “little” properties. It was win win for him and whoever bought the places. People don’t tend to trash their own property as much as they do rental properties. He lived in the same neighborhood so he could keep an eye on things. He helped a lot of people.

Few renters would appreciate and be careful with higher-end light fixtures, doors, etc. I do admire your money management skills. Thank you for letting us know there's exciting new content in the future. (I believe having various projects to work on can help avoid burnout. Spending weeks building foundations and filling the blocks would have been mind-numbing for me. With so many choices of projects you can easily refresh/reboot your mind. There's something about watching you fix a mobile home that seems worth watching. Mobiles are small enough for two people to renovate and most adults are couples. You have high standards. You two never just slap on a coat of paint, new flooring, new cabinets, and appliances and call it good enough. Many 'house flippers' do just that. They say they're putting 'lipstick on a pig.' That could be dangerous because if enough mice have gnawed through the electrical wiring in the walls, then the house could be a fire hazard for the new homeowners who thought they were getting a completely renovated mobile home. And that's what they were told.
It's April 2024 and I've been watching since March 2024 for this mobile. Today I decided to go back in time and look at the original tour of the home. I'm glad that you're sensitive about not dissing the prior mobile home dweller. People who live in mobile homes are often called 'trailer trash.' I do think that is deliberate negative propaganda to encourage people to spend way too much money on houses. And now, especially now, when so many Americans are trying to keep their families together. While living in RVs and shed-to-house conversions, all in an effort to avoid being called 'trailer trash.' If someone does buy a mobile home fixer-upper, your series shows what to look for and inspires to fix to a high enough standard that the home is clean, comfortable, and as safe as a house ever gets.
Your videos are important. Although not how-tos, they do inspire people to consider mobile homes in their (sometimes desperate) search for housing. I can tell that that mobile was once a comfortable place. I'm actually impressed with the kitchen. I don't own dogs, but I do know that it is truly the nature of some (many?) to share their lives with dogs - and they do love them and let them into the house because their dog(s) are part of their family.

You two amaze me. You are both so talented and I love your hearts by not judging the previous occupants. You are right, we never know their state of being.
Will you all be redoing the outside of the mobile home or washing and painting it? As always I love watching the transformations y’all do😊

Woohoo go for it, it’s going to look amazing when completed. I just love following you guys as it’s always something. INTERESTING ❤ The old dresser in MB that would make a great project as we know you have always done fantastic carpentry skills.❤❤

I have learned to see potential in buildings like this because I've watched you transform them. I totally love your current house so I'm glad you are going to finish it but I also look forward to this new renovation, too.

I love your enthusiasm for taking on a property that most would think was hopeless. If anyone can turn this older property into something beautiful and enjoyable again it's you two. I look forward to seeing the progress.

Congratulations on this purchase. It will be great content for your channel. It will be great income for your family. I am glad you found a property close to you that you can redo and make it beautiful.
I cannot wait to see the progress of this property. All while fixing up your homestead. Good job, doug and ashley!

The property will turn out great! The “tropical plant” you pointed out is a palmetto bush. Roaches and rattlesnakes like to hide in them, so y’all be real careful. If you want to save it, clean it out, cut away a lot of the fronds at the base with a lopper, so you can see the ground. It’s a regular old woods weed in this Floridian’s view. Keeping it is easier than trying to dig up the giant roots. Didn’t want to scare y’all about snakes. I grew up running through the woods and survived.

I'm kind of glad y'all are doing this. I live in a 2005 MH & the front wall where the water valve for the hose comes out of the wall leaked, for months before I found out about it. My elderly sister lives in that end of the house & I never go back there. Now the wall has a big bow in it. I need to learn how to fix all the damage. I believe I can learn that here.

Me and my husband bought a 96 trailer in much worse shape than this. It was our only option. In 2 months we got it livable and have been living in it for 2 years now❤we love our home. Keep in mind we had an extremely tight renovation budget of 2,000 dollars

Sweet couple with DIY skills. You are living my dream. Would feel blessed to find a place like this for myself. Much respect for keeping some things private like costs and previous owner info. This home is a diamond in the rough and was just waiting for you and your family to come along and rescue it. Many Blessings and I will be along for your journey. What a fun project !!!❤❤

This is really exciting because we know the work you can do. At the same time, I caution you to remember you are going to flip it and don't put too much thought into each little part of the project. Save that for your own house. I trust you understand what I'm trying to say. Now, having a new series with this mobile home will be fine, but I hope that we will still see what's happening on your own home too. I'm loving its transformation.

I had a feeling this was no April Fool’s joke. All I can say is, you are on the right path. I have no doubt you are going to transform the mobile home into something much better than it ever was before. Brings me back to the single wide you renovated with the school house and the huge garage.

With your skills I think you have made a wise choice. Renovating an existing building avoids extra permitting and gives you a passive income. Because of the size of the house it may be a more affordable place for someone to rent. They will have a lovely surrounding yard, too.
