Great comment Ellie, it's quite rare for Gary to get any feedback from the restaurants/pubs he visits.. Yourself and the team are doing a fantastic job, well done 👏
How refreshing to find a pub run by a celebrity who doesn't want to suck a customers eyes out. That food all looked fantastic. I could tell you really enjoyed this one Gary.
I went to his first venture. The Punchbowl in N.Yorks. Great food and atmosphere and they put a huge amount in to refurbing and fixing it up. Unfortunately, it went under after 2-3 years, but Morrisey made sure to pay off all debts and left the village with a lovely pub. I wasn't a massive MBB fan, but Neil comes across as a very honorable moral person who doesn't shirk his responsibilities in life.
I forgot to say Gary. Neil is a lovely bloke. In 1996 I did a radio advert. For McCain oven chips. I was a junior at an ad agency in London in my early 20s and it was him and Stephen Tompkinson who were the voices of some frozen vegetables in our radio advert. Neil was so kind to me, it was one of my first radio ads and both him and Stephen embraced the ridiculousness of my idea and smashed the VO out of the park. And at the end of it I had a lovely radio advert for my portfolio. They even told me I had written a lovely script.
There have been so many celebrities who have tried their hand at opening a "classy" restaurant and many have fallen by the wayside but Neil Morrissey seems to have nailed it. Top chef. Quality food. Great service & perfect ambience. Well done !!
Visited this pub a few years ago and have been back several times since. It is outstanding in every aspect. Service, ambience, quality of food and terrific vfm. If only more places were like it. Bring one to Surrey…
This is how proper pubs should be. Fair priced, both food and drink. Nowadays they just don't warrant the money. Every village / town, needs a local like this.
@@michaelb2388 My favourite local only does snacks and delicious pork pies. But it has a national reputation for beer and is unchanged since 1903. People visiting York often make a point of visiting it: it's a destination pub. The pubs in my local village would die if they didn't serve food. All have been shut at one time or another over the last 20 years.
Neil Morrisey is one of those blokes that comes across as a genuinely decent fella, I remember a few years ago he had money issues with a business project that had gone wrong, he owed many ordinary hard working people a lot of money, he could of declared bankruptcy and walked away but as far as i know he didn't, he manned up took responsibility, worked hard and as far as i know paid everyone back. His pub looks great, the food looks amazing and really reasonable for such great quality, its a 10/10 from me and i wish Neil all the best, when I visit I will leave a fiver behind the bar so he can have a pint on me, the world needs more Neil Morrisey's.
I’m so happy for Neil Morrisey! I was afraid you’d not like the food. I actually prefer a really good pub meal to a good restaurant meal. I find the atmosphere more relaxed and authentic, especially if there’s families with little ones running around. Another great review, and that food looked amazing. It’s a 10 from me. Cheers, mate!

This was about a week after I spent a fortune at his over priced restaurant..
Been to one of Neil Morrissey's pub/restaurants and it was fantastic. Had a great meal at a very fair price and the staff were amazing. My daughter, who is autistic asked for a photo of Neil, they did that and made a huge fuss over her. The place was packed but the staff still found time to talk about Neil and the pub. 10/10. So no surprise that the Plume of Feathers did you proud.

What a great impartial insight into that pub. Gary did them proud with his honest experienced views and just having the chips need more TLC is nothing that chef cannot resolve. What a fantastic looking Scotch Egg dish. I was salivating just watching it. Lovely food lovely looking pub that I would most certainly visit on my travels.
Agree with you about the Scotch Egg, there are high class restaurants that would struggle to serve up something that good...I was pretty much salivating before Gary even cut into it...just looked fantastic!
The Plume of Feathers Pub looks like it would be a wonderful place to spend a lazy afternoon. Especially on a sunny day in the beer garden. The food looked amazing. I think I would give a 10 because it looks to be the whole package experience and food wise. Gary another fine review, keep up the quality work..............Cheers.
Hi Gary, we have planned on going several times, but never got around to it. But now, the decision is made, the wife and I have to do the 3 hours drive up and try it out. It looked absolutely amazing and loved the ambience with the memorabilia from his work etc. Nicely decorated and not tacky at all. Really glad you enjoyed it and as I said, we will most definitely take the trip up and try it out! Have a wonderful rest of your day and Happy Easter! 😊
Great review Gary. Lovely to see authenticity in such a crowded genre. Me and the mrs use your recommendations to add to our culinary destinations! Keep em coming
So happy to see you come to my neck of the woods, Gary. Never expected to see you up here! I'm in Stoke, and heard lots of good things about the Plume. Definitely going to check it out now! 💖
The food looked absolutely top drawer Gary. Very imaginative and excellently executed. Sensible price for such quality food 👍🏾 Loved that there was no audible music too 👌🏽
That was top quality Gary. I was ver impressed with the starter and the gammon looked delicious. Definitely 9.5-10. Superb and many thanks for sharing, this Sunday evening, much appreciated 👍👍👍
I am so glad you went there; some friends of mine live in Barlaston and go there for special occasions. They've raved about the food and now I can see why! The gammon looked sensational - and I love the idea of gooseberry ketchup as the condiment! Another fantastic vlog! Thanks, Gary xx
Stoke on Trent is a beautiful place, not like noisy london. And what an enjoyable meal Gary. It's a nice family trip just to pay a visit to such a lovely pub. Brings back memories when pubs were quite different and food was authentic. Good show Gary. Always a pleasure to watch your vids. Cheers mate.👍
For the price you got the quality food the service and the ambience I wouldn't hesitate in giving it a Ten. The starter you got i would expect in the restaurant and the gamon steak was really cheap as it was proper quality. Hats of to the chef for preparing and serving such quality pub food🙌 I am so glad you got that starter when I saw it on the menu I was ahhh I would pick that for sure as I have never seen it before on any menu. That half pint mate you really should have got another just to make sure it was as good as the first one😉 As always thanks for the review it's much appreciated guys🙌
Brian...... Had the chips been perfect, then you could give a 'Perfect' score, but they were not quite there, so in all honesty you can't give a 10, but I would give it 9.75 which is being realistic while being an amazing result for the pub !
Great review Gary and I'm a Neil Morissey fan myself. That place should be set as a benchmark for all pub food establishments. The chef and cooks know exactly what they're doing and the atmosphere in the place really sets the scene of enjoying a good meal, without any music or distractions. It's a well run premises. 9 times out of 10 you'd see celebrities putting their names to gastric pubs or restaurants and falling short but this is the genuine article My marks would be a 10 and definitely back with friends to treat them. Places like this need to be shared 👍👍👍
For a pub it’s got to be a ten! It’s probably better than an awful lot of so called restaurants. Everything looked really good. As always, a great vid Gary👍
Oh my days....that all looked fab...great choice made..that starter yum..the gammon..yummier..im so hungry..ty for sharing Gary....🎉..wow 💯..worthy of a 9.8🎉
Looks like a TEN for sure...that Scotch egg looked like one of the most appetising things I've ever seen you sample and I only wish I could visit this place to try it myself. The gammon looked thicker than some pork chops I've had. Definitely way beyond 'pub grub'.
Great review as always Gary! Everything looked divine; clever and well thought through flavour combinations and cooked to perfection especially considering price.
I’m glad you followed up on a hint I dropped you sometime back when I believe you were in James May’s pub, as I said then it is a fantastic pub with great service & beer, but the chips let them down on my visit too, except mine were pale & soggy, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the small handful they gave you, I only had a couple less on my smaller meal. So now the sun will be shining once again I’ll drag the motorbike out & head down there & give that Scotch egg ago 👍🏴
It's a 10 from me, Gary. Now you've picked somewhere I can get to! My son in law is from Stoke, so after seeing this review, we're going to 'give it a go' 😊 thank you!
Another great review. Well done Mr Morrisey and his team running the place, it's great and very rare to see a celebrity owned place actually deliver over deliver on the food compared to the price.
Thanks for giving it a go Gary - That Scotch Egg looked awesome. The leaf salad had a glint of dressing not dry like some Pubs 👍 Chips are chips so give it 10 🤓
Thats a 10 Gary. I wanna go there. Never been to Stoke on Trent, but now Ive got a reason. My god, that starter....Ive had mains smaller than that. RESPECT

Hi Gary, lovely to see you've given the Plume a go! As much as we are a 240 mile roundtrip from this place in Bedfordshire, it's become our 'local' whenever we are passing through (and even if we're not anywhere near it, we always make an attempt to get there), and also a pilgrimage as part of our yearly jaunt to the Regent Theatre pantomine. We've been going for nearly 10 years, and it's become our firm favourite place for food. Top-class food from Bruce and the team, and wonderful service where needed. A menu jam-packed of lovely food, especially the pie, which is a must-have. Even during Covid, they were the only establishment we're aware of that passed on the cut in VAT with their prices. The celebrity connection just enhanches the overall experience, but at the end of the day, it's a proper pub serving proper food for excellent prices. Keep the fab reviews coming Gary.
Nice looking pub there Gary owned and run by Neil. That scotch egg starter looked incredible beautiful looking arrangement of flavours there. The cider brazed gammon looked equally as good. Shame the chips weren’t a bit more up to scratch. Reasonably priced too.
Wow what a nice looking pub and lovely decore. That food is well presented and looks deliciuos. That scatch egg is perfectly cooked. What was the ketchup like it sounded interesting. The setting is beautiful as well gary
Hi Gary, nice looking pub…Bob the Builder did a really good job with this one!👷🏻♂️ Good prices and quality food, definitely an easy 10/10 for me. I just love me a scotch egg and the Gammon looked amazing. Thanks for another great review.
What a great place and no intrusive music playing! Looked very clean and casual. That food was marvellous. Never considered fish for a scotch egg, but that looked delicious - the main as well. No wonder you were amazed at the standard of what was really just a pub. Great review Gary👍
10 out of 10. Amazing, artistic, and inventive cooking, plus a generous serving of ham. It was really impressive. Thank you for showing us. Oh, I almost forgot, the bill was more than reasonable!
How about a 9.95? Because there was a small imperfection, but really - the value and quality and creativity and care - deserving of high praise! Another excellent find - Thank you for the Ride Along as you enjoyed what looked like a great day out!
Hi Gary, you're reactions to the food and the pub in general were really great to see. And that food looked excellent, that starter alone looked fantastic. Its really good to see a celebrity putting their money where their mouth is and coming up trumps with a really good product. Great to see and I think the quality - and at that price point, really deserves a 10/10. When I'm up that way I'll make it a priority to check out that starter. Nice one Gary! ✌

Neil Morrisey has his own pub chain?! Lol didn't know that. Good for him As a kid, i wanted a pub of my own, so on special occasions I'd set up the kitchen table with all the booze my parents bought and would charge them to buy their own drinks. I called it "The Hound In The Hut" my Nana once came round and didn't get the concept and pretended to hand over invisible money. My mum said: "He wants real money, mum" 😅 It eventually became "The Tortoise Shell" but that didn't last long. I'd hung up me beer mats and decided i was too old for it. At about 9 years of age I went into administration anyway as i was getting no patronage from my family anymore 😔
Haha! That's a beautiful anecdote, mate. I did a similar thing setting up my own Wimpy bar in my parents' living room when I was 8ish on 2 old school desks one Boxing Day. Birds Eye 'beef' burgers in toast with ketchup wrapped in greaseproof, the word 'Wimpy' written on 'em in felt-tip pen. I thought the family were laughing so much because they liked the food & service so much - looking back I think the joke may have been on me 😂. Ironically, 40yrs on, I now work in catering 😂.

Steve that’s very kind and appreciated thank you
Great review Gary. Lovely to see authenticity in such a crowded genre. Me and the mrs use your recommendations to add to our culinary destinations! Keep em coming
This is definitely worth a visit 💯👍👍
So happy to see you come to my neck of the woods, Gary. Never expected to see you up here! I'm in Stoke, and heard lots of good things about the Plume. Definitely going to check it out now! 💖
Hello! Great to see you comment again, it was wonderful. Please do give it a go!
The food looked absolutely top drawer Gary. Very imaginative and excellently executed. Sensible price for such quality food 👍🏾
Loved that there was no audible music too 👌🏽
It was excellent chef. Very very light music, the perfect amount
That was top quality Gary. I was ver impressed with the starter and the gammon looked delicious. Definitely 9.5-10. Superb and many thanks for sharing, this Sunday evening, much appreciated 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it Andreas. A real top quality pub!
Great comment 👍🏽
@@GaryEats Is gammon still allowed since the B word? Or maybe it's compulsory? 🇨🇵🇪🇺
I am so glad you went there; some friends of mine live in Barlaston and go there for special occasions. They've raved about the food and now I can see why! The gammon looked sensational - and I love the idea of gooseberry ketchup as the condiment! Another fantastic vlog! Thanks, Gary xx
Very kind Liz and your friends can confirm how good this pub really is 👍
Stoke on Trent is a beautiful
place, not like noisy london.
And what an enjoyable meal
Gary. It's a nice family trip
just to pay a visit to such a
lovely pub. Brings back
memories when pubs were
quite different and food was
authentic. Good show Gary.
Always a pleasure to watch
your vids. Cheers mate.👍
It really is Paul!
I was driving Ian and it’s a long way so I won’t DD mate 👍
An absolutely glorious meal! Even with the slightly soft chips, I would rate 10. Blessings from Texas,USA. 👍😊❤
Hello Brian and thank you!
Do you have black pudding in Texas?….if not , you should.
Brian...... Had the chips been perfect, then you could give a 'Perfect' score, but they were not quite there, so in all honesty you can't give a 10, but I would give it 9.75 which is being realistic while being an amazing result for the pub !
Top review for a top pub owned by a top guy. Would def give it a 10 as the chips were still tasty, but the whole experience looked fantastic.
Thank you Ian great comment
Gary brilliant find -thanks so much -you came up trumps again
Very kind thank you
Great review Gary and I'm a Neil Morissey fan myself.
That’s a brilliant comment and one I agree 💯 with thank you 👍👍
For a pub it’s got to be a ten! It’s probably better than an awful lot of so called restaurants. Everything looked really good. As always, a great vid Gary👍
It was exceptional Jeffrey. Thank you mate
so glad to see you again gary xxxxxx
Thanks Heather. Hope you are doing well!
Oh my days....that all looked fab...great choice made..that starter yum..the gammon..yummier..im so hungry..ty for sharing Gary....🎉..wow 💯..worthy of a 9.8🎉
More than welcome. Anytime!
Fascinating to see how all the various taste combinations reviewed work together. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your watching and commenting
It hasnt fallen into the trap of being owned by a celebrity, meaning the prices go up.
👍🏼😃
Looks like a TEN for sure...that Scotch egg looked like one of the most appetising things I've ever seen you sample and I only wish I could visit this place to try it myself. The gammon looked thicker than some pork chops I've had. Definitely way beyond 'pub grub'.
A good comment not pub grub and excellent price as well
A 10 from me. For not having music to start with. Great vlog and the food looked lovely, thank you xx
Very kind Susannah and I agree x
Totally agree so many eating places & cafes think they are nightclubs!
Great review as always Gary! Everything looked divine; clever and well thought through flavour combinations and cooked to perfection especially considering price.
Thank you kindly Phil. Absolutely superb!
Watching Gary attempt to cross a mildly-busy road never fails to get the heart going
I’m useless going to get knocked over one day
Yeah, those bits of the intro's always snag me a bit.
Thank you for the recommendation top class. As was the pub only let down was the chips not not a game changer, have a safe journey when you revisit
10 out of 10 I reckon and if I was closer I’d try it out 😃
It was exquisite Hazel
It's a 10 from me, Gary. Now you've picked somewhere I can get to! My son in law is from Stoke, so after seeing this review, we're going to 'give it a go' 😊 thank you!
I hope you enjoy Pauline have a great time when you go 👌
Neil Morrisey makes my toes curl.....there just something about him but his food looks good
@@janecox4173 I can't watch anything with him in it either! As you said, the food looked good 😀
@@paulinedelaney6385 I thought it was just me 😃
looks amazing for pub grub and all home made too . the place was clean , and friendly too , as i know this place . 10 out of 10 for me
Thank you Roy a great score
What a great program this is , me and my wife only came across this RUclips yesterday , so entertaining as well
Thank you so much
Another great review. Well done Mr Morrisey and his team running the place, it's great and very rare to see a celebrity owned place actually deliver over deliver on the food compared to the price.
That’s a lovely comment thank you 👌
Looked really good. A nicely cooked egg is very underrated.
The scotch egg was absolutely superb
Looked good with a great space! Nice and green outside.
Great review Gary, as per usual.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Nice video Gary…Top quality food and lovely pub too…I love “Gammon n Eggs” 👌👌👍 looked scrumptious chap…10/10 for me.

Another fantastic review Sir, we have booked ourselves in (table of six) first week in April, again on your experience.
Wow that’s amazing, please let me know how the meal goes 👌😊
You always make good food look even better..Thanks Gary
Very kind thank you 👌
Great Pub Food Gary. It's probably just near enough to give it a go as a special trip out. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Steve I’ll be going back for sure
Thanks for giving it a go Gary - That Scotch Egg looked awesome. The leaf salad had a glint of dressing not dry like some Pubs 👍 Chips are chips so give it 10 🤓
Great score 👍
Thats a 10 Gary.
I wanna go there. Never been to Stoke on Trent, but now Ive got a reason.
My god, that starter....Ive had mains smaller than that.
RESPECT
Give it a go!! The starter was superb
Good morning Gary…great watch thanks..looked very nice..
Thank you very much 👍
Excellent review as always gary glad your feeling better now omg that gammon has made me so hungry keep up the great content & have a great week 😊👍

Everything looked good ... even the chips .... I think I'll give it 10 ..... Excellent video, Gary.
Thank you I agree
Gary great video. I would have to give a 10 for the all round quality and atmosphere of restaurant. Oh and my compliments to the video editor.. the thumbnail fooled me ) Great entertainment
That’s very kind I’ll let the cameraman know 👍
Wow! 10/10 defo! Neil well done buddy. Normally these pubs, etc celebritie owned are not very good 👍 but this was awesome 👏 cheers 🍻
I fully agree with you Greg, all concerned should be very proud
Lovely pub , proper tradition and very welcoming.
Food was great and the staff lovely and prices are sensible.
The place is special
Sorry but it just looks like any other ghastly, generic 'gastro' pub' , where's all the pubs gone with proper character and atmosphere 😢?
@@maxdamageIQ
I have had loads of really good meals there !
Fantastic compared to my local !
It’s a bit of a drive , but I have never had a poor meal or experience there !
Question, have you been there ?
If not please go , it really is quite good !
John I just noticed the other comment so I’ll reply to both and my apologies in advance. This is a proper pub with a restaurant attached as you know, the food service and ambiance brilliant, this is as you said SPECIAL, it’s not about Neil it’s about the pub, I’ll be returning, take care and have a great Easter 👍
Sun coming through my window, I was just thinking a nice cold beer wouldn't go a miss!! Oh yes, please.
Enjoy! What you going for Trevor?
@@GaryEats A nice cold pint of Cruzcampo.🍺
Gary upload on a Sunday night 👌

Top man Neil
He also owns Brown's Hotel in Laughne near Carmarthen here in west Wales the famous hang out of Dylan Thomas .He outbid Mick Jagger and Pierce Brosnan apparently
Wow I didn’t know that Dave thank you
Hi Gary, lovely to see you've given the Plume a go!
What a fantastic story Elaine, as you make such a journey you understand the quality all round, thank you for sharing really appreciated 😊
Thanks for this, it's always nice to see what's available and it looks brilliant. Really liked the look of the food. Cracking.
It was stunning food for a pub 👌
I used to work with Neil’s dad,,many years ago.I remember him saying “He thinks he’s going to be a popstar some day”
lol great story
Nice looking pub there Gary owned and run by Neil. That scotch egg starter looked incredible beautiful looking arrangement of flavours there. The cider brazed gammon looked equally as good. Shame the chips weren’t a bit more up to scratch. Reasonably priced too.
Very reasonably priced David!
Wow what a nice looking pub and lovely decore. That food is well presented and looks deliciuos. That scatch egg is perfectly cooked. What was the ketchup like it sounded interesting. The setting is beautiful as well gary
Ketchup was superb Abigail. I would highly recommend getting that dish.
Its set in a beautiful area of Barlaston. Its also right next to a canal with great walks
Gary, I give you a ten for your show, your honesty and directness.
Thank you very much, Nick. That’s really appreciated.
That food looked amazing, thanks for smother great video Gary
Thanks for watching Dawn
Hi Gary, nice looking pub…Bob the Builder did a really good job with this one!👷🏻♂️ Good prices and quality food, definitely an easy 10/10 for me. I just love me a scotch egg and the Gammon looked amazing. Thanks for another great review.
Thank you and I fully agree
Gary, the food looked absolutely beautiful, especially the Gammon. The pub looks brilliant great prices definitely a 10 👍
Please do give it a go if you're in the area Paul!
All the celebs are into pubs! 🤯 It’s a hard business. I remember Boon - showing my age! 😂
What a great place and no intrusive music playing! Looked very clean and casual. That food was marvellous. Never considered fish for a scotch egg, but that looked delicious - the main as well. No wonder you were amazed at the standard of what was really just a pub. Great review Gary👍
Thank you David I was genuinely amazed at the quality on offer, have a great week mate
Looks a really nice place and quality food well worth a visit another great review Gary 👍
Kevin this is definitely worth a visit 👍

10 out of 10. Amazing, artistic, and inventive cooking, plus a generous serving of ham. It was really impressive. Thank you for showing us. Oh, I almost forgot, the bill was more than reasonable!
I agree with everything you said Sylvia thank you 👌
11 minutes and 140 likes?? OMG a Phenomenon (spell checks). Beautiful Tops Gary
Thanks so much my friend!
How about a 9.95? Because there was a small imperfection, but really - the value and quality and creativity and care - deserving of high praise! Another excellent find - Thank you for the Ride Along as you enjoyed what looked like a great day out!
I like it! Thanks so much Heidi :)
The starter was a meal in itself! Well done Neil! Another great review Gary. 👌
Thank you and well done Neil 👍
Hi Gary, you're reactions to the food and the pub in general were really great to see.
And that food looked excellent, that starter alone looked fantastic. Its really good to see a celebrity putting their money where their mouth is and coming up trumps with a really good product.
Great to see and I think the quality - and at that price point, really deserves a 10/10. When I'm up that way I'll make it a priority to check out that starter. Nice one Gary! ✌
Thank you so much for the excellent comment Hugh and I really fully agree 💯
That Scotch Egg looked absolutely unbelievable !!!
WTAF!!!
It was absolutely fantastic. With the onions and the coriander chutney, exquisite cooking!
@@GaryEats Bit far from Sussex to Stoke. Next time Chelsea are playing there, I'll be sure to visit. Thanks Gary , you are doing a great job. We went to Goodman Steak after your vid, and I want to go to Veeraswamy soon with my curry loving son. Thanks for everything. If you like an "almost Michelen" curry, Tamasha in Bromley, Kent . You wont't regret!!!
Neil Morrisey has his own pub chain?! Lol didn't know that. Good for him
As a kid, i wanted a pub of my own, so on special occasions I'd set up the kitchen table with all the booze my parents bought and would charge them to buy their own drinks.
I called it "The Hound In The Hut" my Nana once came round and didn't get the concept and pretended to hand over invisible money.
My mum said: "He wants real money, mum" 😅
It eventually became "The Tortoise Shell" but that didn't last long. I'd hung up me beer mats and decided i was too old for it. At about 9 years of age I went into administration anyway as i was getting no patronage from my family anymore 😔
LOL. Epic comment Chase. Amused me and the missus 😂
This has made me laugh, I read it so many times, well done and thank you 👍👍😊
10 out of 10 the meal and Amanda Holden, what a legend 😃
Lol now now
Wow, food looked amazing. Your headline had me thinking oh no it's bad.
Great review as always
Thank you Carol stunned how good it was
Brilliant review as ever, thanks so much for posting.

It’s nice to see a celebrity that’s not ripping Joe Public off very nice well done 😊😊😊😊😊😊
