    Excellent Dave. A well told story. We love this little line and it's quirky history. More videos to follow we hope. Oh and a big thanks for the mention. 👍🏻

    Hi Dave, just came across your videos, subscribed and watched both part 1 and 2. Really enjoy your presentation, and even enjoy your humor!! Your bloopers are hilarious too. Well done. Cheers, Ian

    Hi Dave, great video. I'm pleased to hear that Winchester tunnel is still in use rather than just being left to deteriorate like so many others. A very nice line, shame it was closed.

      Hi Richard, glad you liked the video. I think the line today would have been very useful but then that can be said of many of the old line!

    Would the viaduct have taken 2 tracks or just one?

    • @davekirwin
      @davekirwin  3 года назад

      Good question Ian. It was single tracked just after Shawford Junction and all the way to just outside Winchester Chesil as far as I know.
      A photo of the single line on the viaduct can be seen here: facebook.com/pg/The-GWR-Didcot-Newbury-Southampton-Railway-DNS-1487864558127164/community/?mt_nav=0&msite_tab_async=0

      There is also this home movie of the era I found on youtube, go to 0.20 to start crossing from the Up line across Shawford Junction and onto the viaduct. ruclips.net/video/4kMToP3pa8s/видео.html

      @@davekirwin That's an amazing video with all those old stations and that great steam footage. Makes it even sadder that the line is gone now.
