Last there were 3 train derailments in US at the speed of only 70m/hr. Their subway train speed average is 130km/hr. They are almost leaders in every technology on this earth except microchips. The Chinese communists aren't going to be a pushover. They have a sophisticated enough military that we can't just engage in a few SEAD sorties and sink their navy.
The smart play would be to declare a blockade of all merchant shipping in and out of China and enforce it by sinking anyone who does not comply. China would be in extremely serious trouble if that were done. China is vastly dependent on imported goods for fuel and food.
But our political leadership lacks the moral courage for such a move, because it would mean telling third party countries what they can and cannot do.
The only thing currently protecting Taiwan from Chinese invasion is the fact that China does not have the amphibious assault and logistical resupply infrastructure to successfully invade.
