- In a fortuitous coincident, I was recording a flashlight demonstration video in a field near my house - then I noticed the sky. I stopped recording and took a long exposure photograph and sure enough - the aurora! I continued taking photos for the next two hours and the sky was beautiful.

I could not believe my luck when I already had my camera set up in an open field to record a different video when this started happening. I spent the next two hours taking photos and enjoying this fantastic event.

What a fantastic coincidence, glad you got a chance to see this ultra rare event, and thank you for sharing the video and photos! I also drove out to a rural farmland road and it was surprisingly crowded, I guess a lot of other people got the news about the Aurora. Didn't get any videos though.

What part of Alabama? I am in Tuscumbia in Northwest Alabama. I did not see any color in the sky.
Trussville - central Alabama about 20 miles east of Birmingham.
