      He was a pull up shooter who could drive and finish with an amazing free throw percentage I think one of the best during his days the man could hit shot after shot and just pull up that's why he got crazy paid because the felt even through injury he would still be effective but some people tolerate pain diffentlly and arenas has 200 mill to collect so f it retire with the wheels u got.

    Gilbert should be a coah somewhere. He's right about lonzo...Just watch highlights on you tube, he does exactly what Gilbert is saying every time. Lonzo needs to understand his dad may be knowledgeable about some things in basketball but the NBA a pros league and you can't get away with just knowing a little you have to be a pro change what isn't working and quick.#facts

      This no longer had anything to do with his dad. His dad said magic and them can teach him because at this le el he can't. Lonzo is gonna struggle offensively this year. The Lakers and every one else knows this. Next year and year 3 will be a different story. When that shot falls he is gonna be he'll for teams to deal with. We have already seen the passing and rebounding plus the ability to get steals and blocks. His potential is REALLY HIGH. Its just the shot. You can live with it this season as this is to see what you have and attract star players. Next year his shot will probably be faster

  • @jamesb7802
    @jamesb7802 7 лет назад +4

    Because when they sweep their feet they go back straight. Lonzo doesn't sweep his feet, if he sweeped his left foot he'd be parallel. Him sweeping his feet right puts him off balance and further away from the basket because of his hand placement. In most cases if you fix a guys foot placement thier shot improves drastically.

    Good breakdown by Arenas. What's telling -- for anyone who grew up playing pickup games at school and parks -- is that Lonzo's evolution likely didn't involve bigger and better and rougher competition in pickup games as he learned the game. Lonzo, with his height and athleticism as a point guard, got away with a lot because of a lack of competition. Even at UCLA, he had a lot of scorers on that team and he could pick and choose his scoring opportunities, so of course he was going to have good stats. In the NBA, you can't just hide offensively like he tried to do early in the season. I don't know if ya'll remember him standing at half court most of the time, like at UCLA, but Luke and Magic told him he had to be more involved. But he is no go-to scorer, no creator, no finisher, which is why he shoots an abysmal 35.8% from the field. I said Lonzo Ball and Josh Jackson had the biggest bust potential of any top rookies from their draft class, and I'll stick to that prediction. Those two lived off intangibles in college, but you can't do that in the NBA unless you're freakishly good at, for example, rebounding. Rodman, for example, was an exception, a freakishly good rebounder and defender. Lonzo is not a freakishly good at anything.

    • @Brqinstorm
      @Brqinstorm 6 лет назад +3

      No, not usually, most shooters turn, its actually one of the key component of a good shot, because it allows your elbow to be on the center of the rim without tension in your neck.
      This 10 toe to the rim is something that dates from the origins of basketball when people did push shot with both hands.
      Its a shooting myth that just stayed around.
      And shooters that don't turn before the shot do it in the air.
      Arenas is just wrong on that part.

      My younger brother, had a broken shot, he was always watching me, hit the long jumper, he started trying to shoot it and was not strong enough so he was pushing & throwing the ball towards the basket, not shooting it. u cannot have form throwing the ball, therefore they call it a broken shot today

      JomoDaMusicMan oh wow. Are you sayin Lonzo throws it up like your brother? does he have any hope at changing his shot?

    • @JomoDaMusicMan
      @JomoDaMusicMan 6 лет назад

      YES, he throws it up like my lil brother, and yes, it's going to be very, very hard to change his shot or what u call, fix his shot. He needs to go see Down Town Brown, or Reggie MIller OR maybe RAY RAY, WHO MAY BE EASIER TO GET in touch with

    • @JomoDaMusicMan
      @JomoDaMusicMan 6 лет назад

      Certified Finest: Do u have a jump shot, that needs to be fixed, if so, I could work with u, on your jump shot. u didn't start trying to hit that jumper when u was too young, did u?

    Soooo let me get this straight... Left handed shooters should tilt their feet but right handed players shouldn't? How is it possible that James Harden can pull up going to his right then? So much misinformation going on in this video I can't take it haha.

    • @ShotMechanics
      @ShotMechanics 5 лет назад

      s ll not many righty’s that do either haha.. Steph, KD, Klay (although less so), Ray Allen, Paul George, and the list goes on and on lol... The list of good shooters who square (righty or lefty) is pretty short.

    • @albertonychery1011
      @albertonychery1011 2 года назад

      Because he steps back and a lefty going right stepping back with his right hand is wayyy quick then a right handed player doing it, I played ambidextrous shoot ambidextrous and even triple threat ambidextrous, most of not like every player that’s right hand at least starts straight face and even has a dip, left handed players are more tilted and don’t have any dip most of the time

    I clearly agree about Lonzo's shot. At the same time, Paul Pierce made a good point about Kevin Martin who used to play on the Kings. He had a funky shot that somehow dropped and could play at the pro level. I am not saying he should shoot like that, but maybe Lonzo can try some of the things that Kevin did before making the full transition to the textbook way of shooting.

  • @tayottt
    @tayottt 7 лет назад +1

    This was great analysis. From a scout perspective he is 100% correct. There is going to be a limit on what Lonzo can do offensively with his current mechanics. Either something has to change, or he just has to become deadly efficient at stepbacks/drives.
    If only Out of Bounds didn’t hire a failed porn star as a gimmick I would actually watch Gilbert giving out this wisdom.

  • @albertmijares2566
    @albertmijares2566 6 лет назад

    Lonzo is a left eye dominant that's one reason he brings the ball to the left side of his head... some NBA players also do it but Lonzo's shot is more obvious than the others. That shot made him a 2nd round pick and changing it will be catastrophic like what they did to Fultz. Practice and shoot a lot of hoops is what he needs.

    While Gilbert broke down why the shot is broken, I think he also broke down why Lonzo as a player is broken. The ability to adapt and adjust when things aren’t working is key for success. Lonzo can fix his shot, but that doesn’t mean he will be an all star with just that. This is why Magic said not to tweak with his shot, Magic is gauging how Lonzo as a player, as a point guard, as a Number 2 pick, is adapting to the NBA. I think everyone is seeing glimpses of the talent, but you can’t fix what isn’t broken. The shot is a symptom, not the ailment. Lonzo’s confidence will come back. He’ll be killing it with his passing and vision. But once everything comes together, man this kid is going to be scary!

    wall shooting with right hand when driving right didn't know bout that.... I think it is good to learn to shoot with both hands depending on situation. I am righty and it comes natural to shoot with left when driving left or clockwise turnaround.

    That last bit is what I think is the most important part. He has to change a lot of stuff in his shot then practice it all summer so he gets it down. I would add its easier said than done but maybe in 2 or 3 seasons he can get it done.

    This is an amazing breakdown of Lonzo Ball's game. Thank you Gilbert Arenas for exposing this guy's lack of game. I have been saying all of this to myself all year. Lonzo is a joke. If he goes left it's for two dribbles and an attempted jumper. If he goes right, he's first going to try to pass it back to the 3-point line, or pass down low or drive to the rim. That's it. That's his offensive game. Thank you Gilbert for not making excuses for this guy or blaming his lack of success on his father. Lonzo is not an NBA player. Plain and simple. Agent Zero FTW!!
