Insane that he's been gone for that long. I never got to see him, but I grew listening to him thanks to my stepdad. About the only good that came from that clown was the "Damn the Torpedoes" album. It's a shame I missed out on such a legend. :(
I've been lucky enough to see Spoon twice and can't figure out why they're not bigger than they are. Their albums are great, but they're even better live. They have a chill energy that works on stage.
Spoon never disappoints, plain and simple. Every album may sound different, but each one is special. Same can be said for Tom Petty, he never wrote a bad song.
Great cover. The way its recorded makes me feel as if I'm in the room watching them perform this. I dig that it isnt over produced, its just Spoon jamming a Tom Petty song.
I can't believe how hauntingly beautiful this performance is. These images with Al and Gerardo using those face masks when we were all just surviving. But, then Britt's little face lights up with a smile from...who knows where. Ty Spoon.
Spoon are simply one of a rarefied few bands that always slay. My brother had this b-side on a cassingle for _Free Falling_ & I used to listen on auto reverse Walkman (on repeat) over & over. Respect!
Well played, it reminds me of the commercial where the dude's talking with his boss or something and goes on to say blah blah blah "oh, I had an interview today and uh, NAAAILED IT!!!" I wasn't watching but handling some paperwork I'm instinctively reaching for the volume, thinking Petty and lo and behold, SPOON. Instant fan now for roughly a year or so. Not only nails with this jam but the plethora of others you have been able to create for us fans. The fact is that you have the ability to take me away from all the nonsensical/day to day BS a few minutes at a time. Thank you for what you. HUGE
It is staggering to me I never heard of this amazing band until just a couple of months ago. I heard them on Pandora on my "Dandy Warhols" custom station. First it was one song, then 2...next thing I know I've liked about 12 songs so look them up...formed in 1993, first album 1996, WHAT???? I hate to say better late than never...geez.
@@brittdanielrocks I forgot about this song for a little while, but thanks to your comment I came back to it. Having chills all over again. It's so good! Thank you so much :)
I ghostwrote it 1987 for Petty among tons of songs. You guys do it so well. The most minimal song I ever did, maybe inspired by the CARS,and Rick Ocasek's brilliance.
Nice drum machine for a drummer. What's that you say? You have a drummer? Really? Where? I don't see one. I don't mind being the guy in the back driving the beat but if you had a drummer playing during this take and did not show him that is taking the piss.
What an excellent cover.; love it. I think Tom Petty would have been proud....can't believe he's been gone 4 years already, RIP. 🙏🏻
I know... So sad. 😔 But this cover is fantastic.
Couldn’t agree more. So much love for the original tune here

I can’t believe I’ve only discovered this band now! Been missing out.
Spoon never disappoints, plain and simple. Every album may sound different, but each one is special.
Same can be said for Tom Petty, he never wrote a bad song.
People don’t want something good. The industry especially doesn’t. We get black eyed peas until we ask for more.
Always a sign of a good band; if they sound better live than recorded!
They are too good for ordinary minds and today’s simple minded tastes.
Tom Petty meant a lot to me. So does Spoon. Fucking perfect
This is literally a match made in heaven. I forgot I was listening to Spoon for a minute.. wishing Tom was still here.
Tom still means a lot to me as well ❤
Great cover. The way its recorded makes me feel as if I'm in the room watching them perform this. I dig that it isnt over produced, its just Spoon jamming a Tom Petty song.
love bands covering the late great Petty! Especially the smaller hits! Face in the Crowd is such simple but powerful song. Thanks Spoon Band!
So glad I finally saw this. One of my favorite Petty songs. Hauntingly beautiful. And Spoon, you did it justice. Tom listens and smiles.

My wedding song.
The cover I didn´t know I was waiting for. Thank you!

This song (both the original and this version) whenever it comes on I stop what I'm doing and just feel for a few minutes
Oooooh my favorite Petty song, under appreciated and nicely covered
Always felt this was a really underrated song. Great cover by a fantastic band.

Sweet cover by the spectacular Spoon!! 🎶🎼💜💗💖
My absolute favorite Tom Petty song. Thank you for this wonderful cover. So good...
Spoon can do no wrong. Musically
This is true!
Saw them at the New American Music Union in Pittsburgh 2008. I didn't know who they were at the time but they definitely made me a fan that day!
Awesome!!!!!❤

Even better than the original... I just dont have words to this. Love you guys
Brilliant rendition. Thanks for posting!
Muy Bueno...!!!
One of my fav petty songs that never gets enough love. And I love playing it. The best songs are four chords or less imo.
Obsessed with these covers

Hello😊
I had never heard of Spoon but absolutely love this cover.
They are truly an amazing band.
Nailed it - well done guys - hello from New Zealand !
Great job! Love you guys!~ Peace! Nick from Austin
Possibly the best cover of a song I have ever heard. Just fantastic.

thanks for putting this song out, all age groups should know it. Age Segregation needs to END!!! Storytelling is essential to our existence!!
Great cover !!!! Tom Petty would be happy
My favorite song of Tom Petty ❤
Well done ! Tom Petty would like this version for sure !
Totally channeling Tom! Thanks for that moment, Spoon! 🤓
Hello😊
❣Nice
You know, I don’t have any strong feelings about most of Tom Petty’s music, but this version is really amazing. Britt’s voice is so smooth......
I love the 'airiness' of this song. I don't know any other way to explain it, but I'm sure it's there.🙂
Haunting
Yeah, I get it. There's alot of space in the song. Excellent cover. I can't decide if I like it better than the original.
Yes… airiness. Spoon have always been masters of note efficiency!
Wow what an amazing performance
✌🏻✌🏻🌹😊
Tom would be proud

Nice job!
I'm a major TPHB fan. Will have to check out Spoon. Did not know about this band.
Give the album “Gimme Fiction” a listen straight through. To me it’s already a classic rock album
@@bobbygood3181 Thanks to you, I'm now a fan. Going to see them in June. 🌵
Gorgeous. Thank you.

Two rights that can do no wrong.
Is Alex playing the bass with his left hand? Those little Yamaha Reface sound awesome

hey...suena bien... a Tom le gustaría ... cuídense todos!!
Tu tambien.
wow had no idea Tom Petty had a son in Spoon very cool 😎
This 👍👍
I love spoon but this version just makes me want to hear the original.
Ok, this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I’m a huge Tom Petty fan, but I have to say you guys nailed it!
Hello😊
💯👍
I felt there were some Tom Petty influences in Spoon, so it is fitting that they cover the late rocker.
Awsome! Beautiful just like tom petty did.
I hear John Lennon in the vocal. Gave me goose bumps...and brought a tear.
Mmmm thank you

All bands should include the name of the artist they're covering in the title of the song.
You could just say you don’t get it

what other illusions of songwriting do you have?
Ok but where is the bass! That's essencial for bring the energy with the drums
Eerie how much Mr. Daniel sounds like Tommy.
Britt Daniel has exhibited the ability to do any style of singing and music pretty fabulously, again.
✌🏻✌🏻🌹😊
This song is based on a true story. (D-456-345-A)
Damn, I miss Tom Petty
Y'all see that 1 unlike 😂
Britt and Tom have more similar vocal styles than I had realized.

I am going to make this right… don’t worry
Trust me… they don’t know where we are
Sounds good, why cover a song that was already perfect?
Nice drum machine for a drummer. What's that you say? You have a drummer? Really? Where? I don't see one. I don't mind being the guy in the back driving the beat but if you had a drummer playing during this take and did not show him that is taking the piss.
Not bad. But why bother listening to this when you can hear the infinitely superior original by Petty?
