This song always makes me think of a poster I saw for Black Star outside of the original Amoeba Records in Hollywood of Bowie staring into the sunset. Now every Golden hour, if I'm able, I listen to this song.
I just heard this in my car on satellite radio. Love Spoon, and here I'll be, playing this over and over. Thanks. (I'm a 70 yr. old rocker' lol) but was told recently music has no age.
I love Bowie and it may be heresy to say it, but this version with Britt's beautiful, soulful voice and Alex's masterful piano far exceeds the original. I absolutely love it.
@@CasperVanderlyle I hear you on Transference, that was the only time I was disappointed by a Spoon album, which says more about their consistency than anything.
I loved the cover of Petty’s “Breakdown.” Also, don’t know what these other two guys are smoking, Transference was a good album. It also got good reviews and was on Rolling Stones top 30 that year.
Ever heard his "Let Me Roll It" (McCartney)? That was back on the Drake Tungsten album. Actually, on my old YT channel I posted one of the three songs DT did at a Cure hoot night, which also reminds me that Spoon have a cut on the CD that accompanied a Prince hoot from around then... So there's probably enough covers for a compilation album already...
@Bryan Osorio In my country (Russia), no one seems to know about them, and there are few auditions on the conditional Last fm, but this doesn’t make the group worse, yes
Spotify tells me this was my fifth most played song of 2023. I honestly thought it would be higher. I prefer this version to the original. Good ole Spoon.
I like this cover. Especially the way he sings “Seeing more and feeling less Saying no but meaning yes” 1:41 i can see this version being played in a movie scene where two people who fall in love converse their favorite type of wine.
I’ve been meaning to listen to Bowles last album but I’m not ready yet. Yes it is hard to believe that it’s been seven years. It’s still too sad for me.
Such a brutal fucking year. Not only did I go 36 years without anybody I cared about dying only to lose an extraordinary 17 people that year (I am not kidding, and god, how I wish I were), we also lost more songwriting legends in about an 11-month period than at any other time in music history. Bowie. Leonard Cohen. Prince. Guy Clark. Merle Haggard. Literally half of the finest songwriters on Earth fell like fucking dominoes. I don't think I will ever get over 2016.
@@asianguy6174I also couldn't listen to Blackstar for a long time. But one of my friends said: Listen! There's so much life there! There's so much music there! And now I live with Blackstar like all the other Bowie masterpieces.
Amazing cover of an amazing Bowie song but is anyone else caught up in the cover being just Alex and Britt? Like I know he's a full time member of the band now but wow
Nope. This is lacking literally nothing. Honestly, what would Jim or the others add that wouldn't just be an unnecessary distraction? This isn't just my favourite cover to have come along since Bowie's death, it's one of the best I've ever heard. Get caught up on something else.
Miss Bowie, man. Blackstar was a phenomenal album and glad both NIN and Spoon honor his legacy.
One of my favourite band covering one of my favourite artist. Double the magic✨
Spoon a great band and this is a beautifully done cover of Bowie
Awesome listening to this
Britt's voice, Alex's piano playing.... so divine together 💖
So pretty that it hurts. Happy heavenly birthday to Bowie! We miss you.

Me too, number 4.
this is probably my favorite cover of all time
Thank you. I was born on the same day as him but 42 years later. He means so much to me. Your version of the song is beautiful
Soooo good. I'll be listening to this one many times.
When I see others
Miss him as much as this guy
I hold them dearer
Nothing will ever top Bowie finishing an album and life with this one. Him living on through this beautiful cover gets damn close though.
Beautiful, heartfelt tribute, thank you guys, David was my hero.
Beautiful ❤ thanks guys, and happy heavenly birthday to David ❤️
✌🏻✌🏻🌹😊
Thank you David Bowie for making this possible. I love this version.
Surprisingly very good, very good arrangement which stayed true to Bowie’s vision.
Stupenda/ quanto amo BOWIE - - 😢
What an absolute treat
Beautiful cover by a fabulous band. Bowie's final song, and my favorite on Blackstar.
Awesome cover. RIP David
I love Bowie and it may be heresy to say it, but this version with Britt's beautiful, soulful voice and Alex's masterful piano far exceeds the original. I absolutely love it.
Unbelievable! David (not Jim) Bowie would be proud! Among the best covers I've ever been fortunate to hear.
Crying in the club rn
Been listening to this on Amazon Music for months. Great track.
Some of spoons best work imo. Glad to see it finally on RUclips. -Ben
Awesome track, loving you style 🎸🎤🎼👌👏👏👏👏
This should not make me cry. It does.
Spoon should think about doing a covers album. This and their cover of John Lennon’s Isolation are just sublime.
True but maybe not now, can't chance a second Transference flop album. They need to capitilize off the popularity of Lucifer I think

this band never disappoints and seems to be doing below the radar

Thanks so much for releasing this. Loved hearing it live on the last Spoon tour!
Brilliance!
BEAUTIFUL!
Very moving. Well done.
Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing :)
Superb x

This is pure magic, thanks lads.
Beautiful cover and an awesome piano solo. Reminiscent of Mike Garson on Aladdin Sane
Love it* nice feel,

Spoon is almost too good
Spoon is absolutely just good enough. I deserve for Spoon to exist. lol ❤
Gorgeous!
Well done guys 👏

Molto bella - ( 💫💫💫💫💫💥ma BOWIE - E' INSUPERABILE ( PER ME
Bellissima versione, la voce di Britt mi piace n casino.....
Concordo stupenda.
can't believe Bowie died 7 years ago - seems like no more than 3 or 4 years ago...
yeah, this one and Lazarus gets me every time I listen to his farewell album. Lost a legend with that one. 😢

They're the only two performers on the song so it makes sense to me. But I get your point. Alex seems to be 2nd in command now.

Had this been released previously? This is from 11 months ago...

It was previously on amazon music as an exclusive. It is only now coming to RUclips and other streaming services.
those hacks
Spoon don't need to do covers. Their own music is pretty awesome. This cover ok, but I won't really listen to it that much.
Spoon covering bowie is a treat, we absolutely need it.
Your loss.
