  • American Jiu-Jitsu legend, Rafael Lovato Jr., makes his comeback to Jiu-Jitsu competition after being out for 8 months due to injury. Lovato went to Curitiba, Brazil to compete at the IBJJF International Curitiba Open and he left with 4 gold medals winning his Black Belt weight and absolute in both the adult gi and no-gi competition! He had a total of 9 matches with 9 submissions!

    At 1:12 Lovato maintains a surprising amount of leverage in this almost-passed over-under position, both using the overhook and the underhook. Very instructive!

    Mr Lovato ser, why dont you get up to a comfortable 205 and take over the light heavyweight division? You're 6'3", Daniel Cormier cant be on the throne forever and you have more talent than anybody in that division coming up.... just saying.... you'd probably make it look easy lol.

    He hasn`t fought any big names in Curitiba most of the big names did not take part in this competition , the best BJJ black belts are in Rio de Janeiro he was submitted twice by Roger Gracie and am sure that many other big names would do the same to him.He is good and looks great here but he is not against the best !
