    Rafael KNEW that Roger would go for the cross choke.
    His coaches, partners and friends knew it.
    The whole arena knew that.
    Everybody on Stream watching knew it.
    Hell, even Grandma Ingrid in Italy, who doesn't even watch BJJ, knew it.
    But still, Roger was able to use the attack and pull it off. THAT is a well trained tecnique. Irresistable and straight forward.
    I really like the mind set that is required for this kind of determination.

      Sort of. The cross choke you can learn on day one. But the base, balance, patience and knowledge to know what to shut down first and how to stay out of an elite level opponent's guard takes years and years to learn, let alone master the way Roger did. So yes he used day one techniques but also a bunch of other invisible techniques that make his opponent look less skilles then they are.

    This was at the start of Roger's amazing run during the 2009 and 2010 IBJJF Mundials. He went 2 straight years without losing, going 15-0. Amazing thing is that he submitted EVERYONE except for 2 matches. Romulo had to bow out due to injury in the 2010 Absolute final and Demente lasted the full 10 minutes in the 2010 Super Heavy final, losing on points 13-2. The other 13 ended by submission and I want to say that at least 10 of those were all chokes from the mount. One of the most amazing runs I've ever witnessed.

You will feel a very significant advatage in strength and power. One factor in his sucess is he usually has the size advantage. He's very skilled and technical. Roger has some of the best wrestling in BJJ (he's trained with GSP and others). That takedown lead to the easy victory.

    Watching Roger is like when the agent in the matrix says “hear
    that? That is the sound of inevitability”.. except Neo does get hit by the train 😂. Everyone ends the same with Roger

    I’m new to jujitsu only a month in training so don’t kill me but is that some kind of baseball bat choke?

  • @Ryan21888
    @Ryan21888 5 месяцев назад

    Everyone knew Roger specializes in that specific choke. However, once the deep collar grip is achieved, Roger will finish the match via choke.
