Test drove this -- steering is very light and on-center feel is lacking. You can literally flop the steering around 10-20 degrees without the car moving. So meh. The engine and transmission were pretty impressive though.
I don't understand how this vehicle is just 14 lbs. heavier than the 2022 model with 13 more hp. and 37 ft. lbs. yet only 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 mph. Hopefully the 1/4 mile time is in the low 14's to make up for it.
@@superweeb6969 That wasn't the point I was making. More Power = quicker as long as the weight is virtually the same. BMW's are drivers vehicles so I am pretty sure more than 95% would want them to remain that way. I am a driver and I would expect better performance from a BMW based on the power gains. I'm pretty sure BMW owners care more about performance than most other "non premium brands." Do you really think people buy BMW's Audi's and Mercedes for the ride and not the performance?
Ha every comment here says it has one reply but those replies are not showing up for me. RUclips is finally doing something about the comment sp@m! As for the review, I think BMW (and Soyfan) knocked it out of the park. Great styling, great specs, and good price. If only the interest rates weren’t so high right now we would definitely consider one to replace our ‘18 Tiguan.
It looks fine but premium fuel and mediocre mpg for a small vehicle. As fast as a Sportage Hybrid which is quite a bit cheaper. I must be getting old but the appeal of this BMW just does not exist for me. I am still on the Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige list for small crossovers. Better mileage, more space, just as nice from and interior and tech view point and way less cost of ownership.
@@XX-166 Yes! To much comfort, reliability and money sacrificed for brand cachet and a bit of performance that gets used every other year. I am passed the whole brand cachet. If I went BMW it would be for an i4 not this.
When I moved back to the US in 2018, I ended up buying a brand new 2018 X1. It wasn’t even on my radar, but I dropped into bmw on a whim and got a fairly well equipped unit that they offered me for 33 grand and it was just way more fun to drive there anything else that cost 33 grand in that category. I’ve never understood why people hate the looks of the old version that much, other than that it’s just sort of a vanilla BMW. That said the front wheel drive in my model chews through tires which pisses me off because otherwise, I love the car and would love to have a new version of it with an improved interior. Maybe this is it, but I’m pretty sad they got rid of all the hard buttons in favor of just the digital screen.
I also have an X1. It’s chewing through tires because BMW uses runflats and they wear out really fast - also create horrible road noise and diminished performance, traction and handling. And they’re expensive to replace.
I'm guessing this does not have adaptive cruise control. It's almost impossible to find any BMW with adaptive cruise control these days due to supply issues. Not good, as this feature is pretty much standard on even low end brands.
3:16 " The design has improved it has very nice proportions now " That is debatable, since the predecessor had already very good proportions, especially for a front wheel driven car. The new X1 is now 2 inches longer but BMW put this extra lengths almost entirely into the frontal overhang. So the nose grew quite a bit and in the side profil the proportions are not as slick anymore compared with the last X1. It is a much bigger car in all directions now, which is good but the nose has grown too big in my opinion.
I ordered my 2023 BMW X1 in Australia a few weeks back. Total cost $80k AUD fully loaded. I purchased a new X3 in 2019 for $70k AUD. New X3 now go for $100k AUD. Anyone interested to know in other currency, I paid $55k US dollars, or 45k pounds sterling, for my 2023 X1. The X1 is NOT a cheap BMW. It is another expensive BMW. A different option. I have both 2023 X1 and 2019 X3 and 2012 118i. Different cars for different purposes. Not buying a smaller car BMW on price - they are all expensive.
I don't understand why NA wouldn't get the iX1, or the iX3 for that matter that Europe gets. Two of their top selling models in the US should easily transfer into the top selling EV models. Stupid thinking. On top of that, why would they not make an iX4 since the X4 is based off the X3 and the shape is more conducive for EVs.

Pimp?
Great review guys! Tommy , you look just like your father , and you sound just like your father! Wow! 😂
Have they improved the turbo lag?
Turbo lag noticeable if you floor it. But not an issue if you aren’t aggressive.
The dual exhaust pipes are gone?

Hidden, but present.
Test drove this -- steering is very light and on-center feel is lacking. You can literally flop the steering around 10-20 degrees without the car moving. So meh. The engine and transmission were pretty impressive though.
Do not have this complaint of dead zone in steering. Car is agile.
I don't understand how this vehicle is just 14 lbs. heavier than the 2022 model with 13 more hp. and 37 ft. lbs. yet only 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 mph.
Hopefully the 1/4 mile time is in the low 14's to make up for it.
95% of the people buying this car will not care about 1/4 mile times lmao.
@@superweeb6969 You must be confused with the Subaru Forester that doesn't even offer a turbo as standard equipment.
How is the cabin noise?
On highway at 75mph wind noise is noticeable, but conversation is still normal.
I think glb is leading in this class I like the style
Ha every comment here says it has one reply but those replies are not showing up for me. RUclips is finally doing something about the comment sp@m!
As for the review, I think BMW (and Soyfan) knocked it out of the park. Great styling, great specs, and good price. If only the interest rates weren’t so high right now we would definitely consider one to replace our ‘18 Tiguan.

The E84 with the 6cyl turbo was a fun car.

Don't like the gear selector. Otherwise it's a good car.
I hate SUV’s but this looks good. Looking into the alfa Romeo Tonale too though
Pewdiepie and Gorgon Ramsay in one video.... I can die happy now
Two much camera motion during static scenes. 😌
Horse race
Enjoy your kia
Yeahhhhhh you’re getting old.
@@XX-166 Yes! To much comfort, reliability and money sacrificed for brand cachet and a bit of performance that gets used every other year. I am passed the whole brand cachet. If I went BMW it would be for an i4 not this.
@@davevolz6138 Thanks, I enjoy the one I have now.
My god this is gorgeous
Finally, the caterpillar becomes a beautiful butterfly---------FINALLY:)

Just don't be lazy and drive
In USA adaptive cruise and lane centering are available and work well.
Disappointed a bit with acceleration. More power and torque with a DCT..and it appears slower than prior gen. BTW BMW states a 6.3 for F48 xdrive.

No complaints with acceleration on highway. But if you tramp on accelerator from a stop, car gasps before launch.
Fully loaded mSport brand new msrp 48k. Not bad

Why does everyone glaze over the fact BMW has not offered active cruise control on these or the X3’s for two years now? 🤔
I have adaptive cruise and lane centering on my X1 . Works well. But it is an option, not standard.
I want one but m sport with the 20 inch rims
My next car.
3:16 " The design has improved it has very nice proportions now "
That is debatable, since the predecessor had already very good proportions, especially for a front wheel driven car.
The new X1 is now 2 inches longer but BMW put this extra lengths almost entirely into the frontal overhang.
So the nose grew quite a bit and in the side profil the proportions are not as slick anymore compared with the last X1.
It is a much bigger car in all directions now, which is good but the nose has grown too big in my opinion.
would love this to be a full electric... thats the perfect size car that i would want...
Too bad only Europe gets it
DCT on a base model but M cars come with planetary ZFs? 👀👀
Wish BMW would sell the iX1 in the US.

On top of that, why would they not make an iX4 since the X4 is based off the X3 and the shape is more conducive for EVs.
they got rid of the rotary controller! What next- a tachometer pointing backwards? Oh😮....
Coming in hot there at the beginning Sofyan! You're being whiny as usual!
Nice mpg
I do 35 mpg at 75mph on highway, but suburban driving in low 20s. But I’m at 7000’.
The rear looks a lot like the new crv
I liked the X1 when it looked more like a wagon.
I thought this was an X3 honestly
Bmw x1 is a good car but going to a duel clutch is bad there be many failures, don’t know what there thinking about, Nissan have duel clutch and they have endless bother this has put me off bmw x1
thought Nissan had CVTs ?
LMAO
Dude if you're going to comment at least be factual and not BS. Nissans use CVT. BMW makes amazing transmissions. Period.
That way, when the one screen breaks you get to replace both at the same time.
Nice, but I'd consider the Volvo XC40 R-Design within the same breath as this.
