Soilwork is in my opinion, one of the best bands out there today. They manage to raise the bar at so many levels for every album, also they have one of the greatest drummers. Dirk Verbeuren is one af my all time favourites!
Through Dirks lessons I really got inspired to cover some of his previously work, and I naturally decided to cover one of the songs that got me into this genre at first. “Stabbing the Drama”. Actually Dirk was kind enough to give me the original drumless track for this video, so speciel thanks goes out to him!

Drums was recorded at Hansen Studios by Jonas Haagensen. Jonas is a pretty cool guy, very skilled. He is also playing guitar in Melodic Death Metal band Aphyxion. They are definitely worth a listen. Make sure to check them out:

DirkVerbeurenDrummer Thank you for your kind words Dirk. That song is so good. Also one of the very first that I heard, starting listening to heavy metal and picking up the drums.
I want to echo Dirk's praise, Bastian. Good work on a deceptively challenging song! Dirk is my favorite drummer out there, and while I'm still grieving over his Soilwork exit, you can definitely fill the void. Let's hope Soilwork signs you on long-term so I can hear some completely original Bast-Blasts and Thusrolls!

This is amazing. Bastian was pretty much a toddler when Soilwork started and is now on a level to be their new drummer. All the best of luck in the future. Been in love with Soilwork for almost two decades now.

I always dreamed about playing in a band like Soilwork and I have to say the music and song writing always sounded perfect to me. I have always been a huge fan of Dirk too, but to be honest I was very surprised when I got the call.

Thank you Simon. Didn't use triggers for that recording. To be honest with you I have no clue about mics. I worked with Jonas Haagensen from the band Aphyxion on this video and he knows all the technical stuff. :-)

There's been a recent trend of veteran metal bands (see: Soulfly and coincidentally Sepultura) hiring young drummers on a full time basis, let's hope Soilwork follow suit here.
