I can’t figure out what hes doing! I thought it was just triplets to four’s....but look at his left foot in the basic triplet pattern...hes even changing that up.

The taste of this guy playing drums is exquisite. I am no drummer, but I can tell you the main reason I listen to this song
on repeat are the drum sound and the creativity of his play!! Amazing!!
Not only do I absolutely love the live mix of the drums with these playthroughs but it's also simply amazing to watch you move so fluidly. My deepest appreciation of these playthroughs is it allows me to see and then audibly pick up on little notes and flavors you laid down that I hadn't gotten yet.

Well, i don’t have to have superior skills to make judgement about this playthrough or any other piece of music to express my opinion. Here is counterquestion: do you consider this play as expressive and energetic?
I stopped following Soilwork after Dirk left, because i couldnt watch this new drummer playing.. Looks like an emotionless drummer. I felt like the band was dead. No energy.
@@danpodkovko8596 the guy is an absolute machine. He had big boots to fill with Dirk and no one will be able to match his unique style, he is a one of a kind drummer. But this guy is a seriously excellent drummer. This song is pretty chilled compared to most Soilwork stuff but I'm fine with that. There doesn't have to be crazy blastbeats and fills in every song they do.
Been drumming myself for mb 15 years. Played quiet a lot of All that remains, in flames and soilwork. This ”boring” beat u hear i guess the pros often play for dynamic purpose in songs (making contrast through the song). Famous older songs like Rejection role and Distortion sleep have them aswell. When i try to play songs by Dirk then by Bastian i for the most part have difficulties getting Bastians songs right with those advanced fills (fills between the blast beats in Arrival for example). Guess, like always, whats difficult for fans to understand is that bands change and when older fans leave new fans come, like me (been listening much more lately). I think Bastian is the perfect replacement, eventhough he could mb headbang a lil bit more :P
