Derek: Oh yeah, we've got non-brakes...
The boys: ...that's fine.
The corruption is complete!
Derek: Oh yeah, we've got none brakes
Kid: That's fine
🤣
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree Derek 🤣
Straight down between the roots!
Kids got a great deadpan.
And don't tell your mom there's no seat belts, and quickly they say ok with a smile. That Bentley sure looks a lot like Derek, and Bradley looks a bit like both parent's. I laughed, because those boy's didn't act phased at all by how the truck was running, and the thing's Derek said got no reaction until Bradley says a couple time's, look at that boat, made me want to see it. This whole family are great together. I enjoy kid's doing something besides being on gadgets all the time. God bless.
Dad I just pretend you didn´t tell me and I will not tell mom
It's always fun when you drive to the scrap yard and see multiple vehicles in the pile that are nicer than the rig you're hauling with...
Lol!!!
And you end up pulling one of them back with you
I've pulled parts off of vehicles that were better than what I was repairing! GASP!
I once found an old offenhauser 4 barrel intake and a header at the swap meet for a 300 six. Put it on a 81 pickup with a 600 Holley. The gas mileage actually went up a couple mpg's...ran like a small block..
7:16 Watching your son, on his own, checking if the engine still turns..... now that's a moment.
Those boys try so hard to be the straight guys... lol
And Bradley saying "it'll be fine" after his dad says there's no brakes is pure gold!
You're doing it right Derek, those are some great kids.
You bet they are, and learning by working with dad. Can't get better than that!
Wish I could have learned a few things as a kid like that... Would have saved me a lot of money learning by trial and error. Lol
I caught that too. He's got his dad's sense of humour
ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK , PERIOD .
I love the contrast between Derek and his boys. Derek being the comedian and his boys being stoic. Derek, you're doing it right, that whole fatherhood thing.
Never any kid play and only speak when spoken to.
Boys always hear Pops talk this way so it ain’t funny to them anymore.
I think the boys take after their mom, the sensible one!
@@artistnyc123 Those kids play plenty. You not paying attention.
Yes Derek is a good Dad. Must have had a good one too.
This is my favorite channel on RUclips. No politics, social issues or anything like that. Just a feller, his family and some awesome vehicles. Perfect.
I have to agree, this guy is just like my Dad was - perhaps he is a reincarnation
Those boys are gonna remember this and many other "suicide missions" with their Ol' Dad for years. Raising them right, bud.
Or their crazy old pa 🤣 lol
“We got no brakes”
Bradley: “That’s fine” 😂
Sooo Cute!!!
Just like his dad!
We need more people like Derrick in this world.
We sure do fella.
Derek.
A Derrick is an oil rig. Derek is just one cool American guy.
Absolutely 🤗
He’s one of us Minnesotans. He all good
Derek's evil laughs are Epic always talks to the vehicle in the third person
Man, I can't even imagine what my life would have been like if I had a dad like you. Keep up the good work sir!
I love how the boys are stone cold zero reaction while Dad is putting on a Stand up show worthy of any Laugh Factory gig in Kansas.....I know the feeling sadly. Cool to see the Cubs working with papa bear.
I think Derek realized that by the time he got to watching and editing the video lol, hence the camera frames quickly going to his face and the boys faces. Gotta say though I like how he sticks to his style when doing advertisements for sponsors.
They're tickled, you can tell by the look on their faces
Its been a year but... But you can tell because of how it is.
Who was it said "That's fine", after deciding that they didn't check ✔️ the oil?? 😆😅
Every good comic needs a straight man, a really good comic need him 2.
I had just turned 15 and my Dad bought a 1960 Ford Falcon that ran just like that. He guided me through the rebuild of that engine. My first shade tree rebuild. God I miss my Dad.
Your pops did you right, hoping you get to pass it on to your kids someday 😁
My dad had a 65 Falcon with a 289 and a three speed that would jam up in the linkage. Also had to use my toes to lift the clutch pedal after pressing it. No big deal. That truck ran great for years. Drove it all thru high school in the mid 80s. He sold it years later. I honestly don't remember doing much more than changing the oil, tires and muffler.
@@williampulley I helped my father rebuild a 66 mustang with the 289, he still has it. He and my brother refreshed a 62 falcon, which my siblings and I used at various times. I have that one, but I daily an 85 town car half way clapped out. I'm in Massachusetts where these cars rot quick. Jealous of these Minnesota cars I'm seeing resurrected here
Always entertaining with Derek. I love the fact that the boys are helping and learning. Not to mention the fun they were having at the end. Glad to see kids doing something other than video games.
I had a 65 short wheelbase Ford with a 300 in it three speed On the column I am not a Ford person I’ve owned two of them in my life. You could not kill that old great truck super strong.
Good Time To Rebuild Your First Straight 6 On The Show.
That's what I was thinking maybe do a sheet metal intake with triple webber carbs 👍
"don't tell your mom" I'm nearly 50 and I think I must have heard that statement as a kid at least a million times.
I'm 25, I couldn't do anything with my dad without hearing those words, now I find myself saying that to my daughter when were up to no good 😅
Around here, with my grandsons it's "leave Mom & Nanna out of this" 😆
@@mikepraed4623 haha i like that. I'm sure my dad will use that line on my kiddo and few times
Ted Bell,...I heard it from a camp counselor.
I got two teenagers boys and somehow mom usually does find out
That road trip is basically the preview of all 29.5 season of “America”
Best channel on the old web
The looks on the boys faces when you make a comment is timeless. They want to laugh, but I’m not sure they really knew what they’d just heard🤣. Great video👍. Racks of cold snacks for everyone🤣🤣
I can’t believe I just watched a guy drive an old truck to the scrap yard, twice, and enjoyed every minute of it. Good stuff!
These kids are lucky to have these adventures with their dad on video, they'll be able remember the good times.
I was thinking the same thing. Remembering being that kid who was always out on a car fixing adventure with someone. We rode in a brown f 150, 302, white wagon wheels.. good times.
I miss those hot as fire days and that little vent window would rock some air flow!

It's really great watching you find old cars and bring them back to life, but the best part of the channel is seeing how awesome of a dad you are!
Love those old trucks. Simple and easy to work on. You make me laugh every time I watch one of these videos. Glad to see some of these old rigs being saved.
I recon if more fellas were like ol’ Derek, kids might not be turnin out so bad. Good job with the young uns!
Couldn’t agree more guy!!!
I can see your kids explaining to someone what they did over the weekend. " I changed some sparkalaters and helped my dad with lighting hoses." Then people looking at them like they are crazy.
Haaaaa, haaaa, yeah!
@@benshivd I love Derek's home made vocabulairee! Does a fella good to hear on it.
Brings back memories of me and dad going to the trash dump in the old Dodge 50 years ago. They'll remember these times for the rest of their lives. I sure do. Right on Derek.
This is what kids these days are missing much of them don't even know how to change a tire. I work on all my stuff my self with my son and my daughter and they love it. Trades like these are slowly diminishing. Love watching you and your boys working on old reliable rigs
Them boys will always look back and smile thinking about that truck
If I'm not mistaken that trucks gonna be his oldest sons first goin to town rig as they "fix it up and feed her a few onions"
Some of my best memories are with me and dad working on the 67 ford farm rig. Sitting next to the the 56 Chevy truck in the field. No tags, no insurance and good memories.
Melted my heart to hear that Derrek is gonna give the money from the scrap metal to his boys, what a guy!
Work earns rewards. Teaching them a work ethic
That's what dad's do!
CREDIT MRI - First commercial in my whole life I have actually watched and enjoyed! Well done!
Laughed about the belt squeal “just letting you know it’s running” and the boys just smiling now and then at their dad’s nonsense. That truck is incredible and those boys are living the dream.
Literally the only sponsor video I’ve watched, lol... He makes it easy not to skip them.... hahahahaha
Only other channel I feel that with is Internet Historian
Watching your boy almost lose the rear end of the go-kart then recover was golden.
I was thinking the same thing,,, Boy can drive... gonna be giving the ol man a run for his money!!
That was an impressive counter steer.
Missed that first time round - 18:38
Kid knows what he's doing. That was impressive.
well he clearly spoiled his line at 18:53. Dunce Dads spoiling laps. geez.
I own a 1965 ford 3/4 ton, 4 speed, 300 6 cylinder with 512,000 thousand miles. Original engine, trans and rear axel. Have done a few minor repairs. New seat coverings. Still runs well. Has recently started to give a puff of blue smoke put of the tail pipe when first starting in the morning. I think it's earned that right.
My favorite part was watching the boys racing around the property. That go-kart was fishtailing and kicking the rear out and he just handled it. Someday, that kid is going to be a great racing driver. That’s just born talent.
New deadliest catch is on, VGG notification.... finally something worth watching
🙏🙏
Much to be said for real, reality entertainment
Truth!
I get overly excited when I get the notification
Y'all remember when Discovery channel was worth watching you actually learned something on it.
"Don't tell Mom" holds about as much water as an old rotten dish rag. Mom knows. Mom always knows.
Its like demo ranch. Don't tell mere.
I bet she saw the video, yep. Moms do have instincts though, I don't know how my mom figured out what I was going to do or had tried to get away with, but more times than not she would corner me on it. Moms have powers!
"Don't tell Mom" is what goes in the ears. "Guess what Dad said" is what comes out the mouth . LOL
Mom has eyes not just in the back of her head, she has eyes everywhere!
I should say, she's got SPIES everywhere!
I love it when your tiny humans are involved!
Another great video. When I scrapped my 70 year old auto electric shop, one of our loads were 3900 lbs. Only half a bed full. Only squated about a inch. Lol. It was my dad's 1972 dodge power wagon w200. Still have it. 76k on it. I laughed because my dad traded in his 1969 ford. That road like a Cadillac, this dodge rides like a tank.
Derek, the memories you are bestowing upon your boys is priceless. God bless you and your wife.
Im 35 and I still wish you were my dad. Those boys will have some good stories for sure.
Yup, they will
Imagine he is an act accordingly!
I wish I had this growing up myself!
I’m 35 also. Reminds me of working on stuff with my grandad. Memories that stick forever.
You just want a third of that salvage haul.
Forget it Johnson
OMG that laugh after "Can't find 'em, grind em!" brings back *BAD* nightmares of my dad yelling that to me.
Growing up on a farm gives young men alot of advantages on the way to becoming good men.
It gives a fella a sorta warm happy feeling the way you involve your sons in your channel and spend true quality time with them. 😌👍✌
VGG is the only channel I honestly support love all the videos and content
Thank you Jeremy
My first was an early 70's C10 thanks to my dad..😊 Had manuel brakes, and all the fun stuff...I was only 13 at the time, but it meant the world to me..Nice to see another guy doing similar things.👍
That's some parenting right there. They learned every sarcastic dad joke in one trip.
A guys been driving Chevys so long it shocked him when he turned the ol spark make it happener and it fired up
Edit: side note, a guy can clean up a spark plug right quick in a hurry with a sand blaster. Just a quick PSSSSSSSST or maybe even a PSSSST PSSSST and she'll be as shiny as a brothel door knob on nickel night.
VGG: we have no brakes
Bradley: that's fine
Chip off the old block🤣
I caught that too. lol
Best friend had a 68 same set up. Kept breaking passenger motor mount. We bracketed it in with a
.5 inch logging chain, no more broken mounts... We loved that truck...
The in truck video going down the road reminds me of cruising with my old man in his shit boxes when I was a kid. Great stuff guy!
Derek makes the in-content ads worth watchin’.
If it put groceries on a fellas table, I'm ok to sit for an ad or two!!!
If you can't find em grind em!!! The laugh was contagious Im dieing.
just takin' the burrs off it
Something my brother and I say all the time
I felt it in my very soul when you were telling at the neighbors about them mowing, mine do it all the time
Nice seeing you kids helping dad
I’m 55 years old and my mom still gives my dad dirty looks when we laugh about the “don’t tell your mom” incidents.
I mean if mom knows then someone told her...
Aren't that the truth
Im up there in age too and my mom still hears us talk about those times, lol
The fact your father defies your mom, he does what he wants, that is a leadership quality.
He is not doing bad things, just what he wants! Most women eventually grind a guy down, and then they don't like what the guy turns into! Yep guy turns into a bunch of metal in the oil pan!
My dad is 78 and mom 75 and occasionally he and I forget ourselves and let a moment slip out in the chit chat, my mom has more than once picked up on these with comments like, that's where the holiday money went or I knew we had a red ford at some point. I now have grand kids and the eldest lad is 3, he and I already had our first 'best not tell your mom moment when I let him stand on the seat between my knees and steer my old Jag up the lane to the house.
I suspect Brad knew it would start...maybe that’s why it started so quick with Derek. He knew immediately where the keys were. If ya get my meaning.
Ssshhhhh.
Honestly I thought the same thing. If I was that kid I would be definitely doin dad a favor and starting rigs once and a while ;)
The mowed lawn under the truck is a dead giveaway.. 🤫
Tires were aired up and battery charged... he's probably snuck it around a time or 12
Cant blame a guy for being excited about having a classic truck as a first vehicle, I’d be out there too.
I love old rigs, too, Derek. My '76 Dodge D200 keeps on haulin'!
Scrolling through youtube “hey I don’t remember this video” look down, video dropped yesterday score! My day is made!!!!!! Love your videos inspired me to pick up a project car of my own (although i’m doing a full restore)
Awesome thank you for watching
This F250 was the first vehicle I witnessed on your channel, and what led me to become a fan of VGG. Cheers, Derek!
Same here!
One of the first I watched too. I was like what the hell is wrong with this guy
First time I've ever listened to the advertisement because you were the spokesperson.
Dude, your life is going to be awesome in ways you can't even imagine.
Good old truck just put a smile on the boys face, can't wait to see your oldest driving his truck.
I bought my daughter a 1981 f150 300 six cylinder and it sounded EXACTLY like that.... the squealing belts, the running on 4 cylinders, the fouled plugs. Put a cheap $50 knock off carb on it ( looks exactly like the original) and it was like night and day. Those engines run forever. New clutch, new carb and that thing will be perfect.
Best way to unwind a evening cold snack and VGG
And a burger off the BBQ 🇨🇦🍔🍔
Wow really?
@@chuckfinley4757 your on vgg commenting about grammar!!! Lmao great comment there bud
@@chuckfinley4757 can't get anything by you.
I agree
Sounds like Christine idling into Darnells junkyard at the beginning 😃
I hauled 2300 pounds in my heavy half ‘67 F100-the stops were an inch away from from bottoming out. I hauled 38 sheets of 1/2 sheet rock many time and she did it with easy. Awesome trucks-mine had the old 352 cubic inch and it was all original with 384k miles on it when I sold it.
I love the way it starts up immediately. That's the 300 for you lol. Mine sat for 6 months without starting and fired right up when I sold it. That was a kick in the teeth
😂😂😂😂 The look on the kids face when you did the maniacal laugh was priceless!!!!
Lap 1: that kart has some guts, looks fun. Lap 2: OK, now I'm just jealous.
Yeah. He came in pretty hot on that second one.
A little guy can swing her round
They're learning from Dad. I think they could probably do authentic drifts.
Sterling Moss
Ya, he never lifts!
Love seeing new videos from you. It really hooks me in watching the cars that haven't run for years. And being from England I haven't seen a lot of these cars before. I'd love to have any of them. Thanks for making these videos.
Listened to the whole ad, hilarious. No superficial characters!
Those boys are living the dream! In 30 years they'll look back and know it! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Great to see the boys again. Making memories with them is important. Good job Big Feller.
I learned how to drive manual in a Chevy chevette with a burned-up clutch I stalled it one time and I'll never forget it I was so proud it was the greatest thing your boys going to love it and it'll be a good memory for you guys God bless
man them 300's run no matter what. one of the best engines Ford ever made.
Derek, I am a 47 year old guy, with 4 grown boys.... you are doing it right! Keep it up my brother!!
Derek - "We're just gonna wait till the last minute to hit those breaks."
Bradly - "It'll be fine."
That Apple didn't fall too far from the tree! 😅
Y'all'er doin a great job with them boys!
When I was 9 years old my gpa taught me how to drive his 47 IH pickup truck. I have owned a 81 F!50 with the 300 4 spd. Good truck after got clutch and tranny fixed on it. It is great your boys have a great teacher.
Your kids will remember these days forever good job buddy
I just love how you involve your kids man. No injecting any humor or wit at all, this is just wholesome stuff. Good on you sir, good on you....
Fact
I swear I called the coffee machine a "coffee make it happener" the other day.
Haha I had the belt on my Wheel Horse mower deck shred on me last week, I texted my dad and told him "So a guy was mowin' along just fine until the belt-a-later that runs the knife-whirler-make-it-happeners decided it had enough, so I'm gonna do the right thing and just go have a cold snack instead."
🤣
I got a 300 6 cyl from a 78 Van was running, complete. Pulled it for another van but never used it. Make a good deal. A bit over your 600 mile drives, I believe here in Alamo town
Derek is a marketting genius. They need to get this man his own show on one of the streaming services!
Those boys have absolute faith in their dad. He says we have no brakes and the young fellers response is just like dads “ that’s fine”. Thanks Derrick.👍👍🇨🇦
As they should do. I grew up doing the exact same things with my dad. It is one of the reasons I love VGG. I Never worried once.
Kind of reminds me of a line Red Green put in his car book about dating women when you drive a junk old car:
“You knew she loved you, because she trusted you more than she did her own eyes”
That was so cool seeing your kid get that little car a bit sideways, takin after his dad!
That little go cart really scoots!
My fathers work truck was a 67 F-250 352 V-8 three speed on the column. At 16 it was mine when he wasn't at work. The farmers around had dirt roads between the fields. I would pull the hand choke to fast idle and creep along with my friends glassing for groundhogs. Usually they would run in when we stopped but would soon be back out because they were used to farm machines. These things were true work trucks, No power steering no power brakes no power windows. The suspension was all truck too. They used king pins not ball joints. The weight it could carry was far beyond 3/4 tons but you paid for it at every bump.
Bradley with the "that's fine' 🤣 chip off the ol block!
"Here's a ratchet from Harbor Freight that barely works." 🤣😂
Standard issue, then
I do believe it’s important that your boy knows how to drive a manual, when I was learning how to drive my father said “if you can drive stick you’ll be able to drive anything”
Learned how to drive a manual and a week later I had to drive a semi truck. Just a little different then a 5 speed lmao
Cool having the Boys involved, was handing pops the tools way back in the day.
This is the kind of stuff I wish my dad did with me when I was younger. I always loved cars but my dad was always in a hurry to get stuff fixed and never took the time to teach me or let me help. I’ve learned a bit from watching the channel, and I think I’m going to buy me an old vehicle out of a field here soon to tinker with. My boy is 4 and ever since I asked him if he wanted to build an engine he won’t stop talking about it 👍🏼👍🏼
"CAN'T FIND 'EM, GRIND 'EM! *maniacal laughter"*
Meanwhile, Brad's just thinking 'Please, dad, don't ruin my transmission!'
Heard that can't find em grind um a number of times riding with my dad, also put it in gear the fan won't pull it . LOL. Great vid Derek.
Time for that coyote engine 🤷
"Grind me a pound while you're at it." 😁

Derek, I can't express how much I enjoy this family friendly show. Infinitely more than any of the garbage on network TV!
You bet, I agree 100!
I love your commercials for your sponsors
Bought a surplus load of pavers for $423 & change after taxes/fees. Took the old F350 up and loaded 1,114 pavers in the bed on the first round. Second round was 850 pavers. Third & last round was 736. Never weighed a paver until we were all done. 7.2 lbs per unit, definitely had the suspension & BFG K02's "Squatting" on that first load- your older son "It's fine..." that's a proud moment there!
I am sitting here laughing my ass off hahaha. “She’s runnin richer than Bill Gates” And then the boys just sitting there like WTF dad?! Hilarious. Keep er goin Derek, you’re the man.
The theme to Sanford and son played in my head this whole episode.
Just thinking the same thing: Sanford and Sons
Give the truck the love it deserves
With so many kids these days that don't have any idea what the proper names for things are, it's great to see Derek teaching his boys the correct technical names for all the car partage: fuel-make-it-happener, spark-a-lators, lightning hoses, lightning whirler...
Same basic principle of "hooked on phonics". How else are you supposed to explain the difference between "mass air flow sensor" and "oxygen sensor"😊
