    I loved your idea about the house and picked fence, I’m teaching time next week and I’ll definitely use it, thanks 😊

    Your videos are so informative and therapeutic to watch! I’m an aspiring teacher and watching your videos makes me extra excited to teach one day. Lots of love from the island of Guam 🇬🇺 ❤

    Another idea for older grades, it’s like reading a chapter book. You start chapter 1 and you read a few pages in, you’re still in chapter 1. It’s not till you see chapter 2 page that you are in a new chapter. Hope that made sense lol.

    The clock tip is really helpful. I taught elapsed time 3 weeks ago and some students had trouble with telling the hour on the clock. I will be using this tip when I review the skill again. Thank you so much.

      Elapsed time can be tricky for sure! Did you teach it using a number line?

    Another tip: when I was teaching time this week, my student told me that when the minute hand is at 30 or past 30 min, we look for the small number before the hour hand to tell the time.

    I'm a middle-aged dude who is single with no kids. I think I'm developing a wholesome crush on Mrs. Katie. Her husband is a lucky guy! And it's neat to hear and see about elementary school curriculum and how it has changed a bit since I was that age. And kudos for using a battery-electric lawn mower which doesn't pollute the air and is less noisy than gas powered ones.

    Hi Katie. Love your videos. I was just curious what kind of information you keep in your intervention binder, and how you use it with your students.

    Thank you for sharing your tips about teaching time. I will be teaching that this next week. You also mentioned that you have already taught area and perimeter, which I still need to get to. I know we are not using the same math program so of course there are differences, but I'm curious about how long did you spend teaching fractions? That's what I've been teaching for the past several weeks. I'm thinking I shouldn't have taken so much time on that concept.

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  6 месяцев назад +1

      We have two chapters on fractions, each about 8 lessons… so maybe around four or five weeks is what we’ll spend on it

    We are new to having Wonders the reading curriculum this year and I’m trying to figure out which read aloud to do. They supplied us with classroom reading materials that kind of take out the teacher choice if I followed the curriculum to the tea. (However you spell that) So this year I am figuring out which read alouds are worth reading and which ones aren’t my favorites. So far I’ve really enjoyed Clementine friend of the week. The students liked that one as well. Right now we are reading The Year of Billy Miller. (Not my favorite yet). Just some ideas from my own classroom.
