At about the 2 minute mark you showed a brick building with boarded up windows located at Sherman Avenue and Portage. This building was a bakery where my father worked back in the 1950's. He grew up in a house located at 613 Sherman Avenue. My Grandma Woodham lived in this house until an arsonist burned it to the ground in July, 1980. My great grandpa Badhe also lived in this area. He was on my mother's side of the family. Mom and dad met while both were employed at the South Bend Tribune in the late 1950's. They married on June 1st, 1963 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in River Park. I have so many fond childhood memories of holidays and summer vacations spent with my grandparents in South Bend. Thank you for posting this video. Now my family is buried in a cemetery on Portage Avenue close to Notre Dame. I will be buried there as well. Thanks again for your videos of South Bend.
I've not been home in over 10 yrs. I can't believe how much the city has cleaned up! I take it you know why their are so many fields between houses. I'm surprised tbh and its refreshing to see. Thanks for making the video
I haven't lived in South Bend since 1993. I was born and raised there. I used to ride my bicycle as a boy down these streets and I was completely safe. It's really too bad that it's turned into such a War zone. You guys really need to get some Republicans in office to turn this place around
Most of this video was filmed on South Bend's Northwest Side and the "Hollow," Keller Park. separate neighborhoods from the West Side. Only a few minutes were filmed on the actual West Side, around Fassnacht Street.
Thats not really the Westside..the west consist of western Ave and sample up til Oliver and benix ..you were on the north ..you completely missed the lake, lil mex etc..
