Geez!!! You drove right past the house of my very first girlfriend- Gwen S - who was the love of my life at 16! That was in 1956. I was 16, she was 15. We both played in the Central High School band. And by the way, in my senior year our basketball team won all 30 season games and went on to win the Indiana State Basketball Championship! The town went crazy! So glad I saw your video! Thank you so much.
In 1997 I visited ND Campus and in 2011 I helped pick up my Brother in laws household belongings, after he,wife and kids moved from the Tacoma,Washington market to the Ft Wayne market. The closest Amtrak station with people on duty. So my perspective on South Bend is very narrow, but most of these nice areas looked like a typical middle class neighborhood in Ft wayne. Do a video on Carmel Indiana
I grew up there until 1968 and went to Holy Cross Catholic school . Lived off College street and grandparents on Sherman Ave . A block from river .I have such Fond memories
I see that your grandparents lived on Sherman Avenue. My dad and his family lived on Sherman Avenue. Grandma Woodham continued to live there until her house burned to the ground in July, 1980. Arson was the cause of the fire that destroyed both her house and the house next door.
We lived in McKinley Terrace, on the eastern outskirts. Town and Country wasn't all that far away. Oddly enough, we never ventured over to the western part of town. We'd go downtown once in a while, but that was it.
Hi there, me and my wife have received a job offer from the Notre Dame University to start at the beginning of 2023. We both have a PhD in Molecular Biology and so we have been offered biochemist researcher positions there. We live in the UK but we are both from different european countries. We've never lived before in the USA and our view of how things are there probably is very biased and too general. Based on what I've found online, moving to South Bend may not be the first option for many, but the job offers we received from the ND university are great and much better than others we have received from different european universities. My question is, should we move there? And, do you have any advice for us? Thank you for your video.
I have lived in or around South Bend my whole life. It’s a nice place to live but it does have a few very bad neighborhoods. Most of the city is very nice and the city has been making a huge turn around in the last few years. There’s lots to do and the cost of living is much lower than big cities like Chicago.
It's nice that you're doing videos of Southbend although it seems like you drive a little bit too fast and you did not focus on the homes enough to get a feel for the area.. and of course taking photos and pictures into the light and into the sun you cannot see anything
I would have to say the best neighborhood to live in South Bend is Twickenham Hills. Nice size homes 3 beds, 2 car garages, decent-sized lots. Safe place to ride the bike, go for a run, or walk the dog. Community pool for the summertime and everything in town is within a 15 minute drive. In regards to the North Shore Triangle the area directly to the south east is going through gentrification; East of the St. Joe River and West of Eddy Street, North of LaSalle Ave up to Howard Street homes are being knocked down and Notre Dame faculty and fans are coming in and redeveloping the area, there's even a Trader Joe's grocery store
Yes the area you mention is very beautiful. When traveling to see my grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, cousins, and great grandparents, coming from Cincinnati, Ohio we had to come into town past Scottsdale Mall and through Twickenham Hills to Grandma Schrop's house on South 28th Street in River Park. Just mentioning Twyckenham Hills reminds me of how excited I was as a child to see all my family. Now, many of the family are dead and buried near Notre Dame. I miss going up there for the family celebrations.
Nice and decent place= expensive. I ' m living now in "agua marina country club" in maneiro. The private security is first. But, there are still safe small towns.❤ Less sugar, please.
You have a soul inside, i wake up early every morning, and i want You to Say that never give up your dreams. Less sugar, please.i'm living here until i leave my country. Hey, folks, go ahead!❤️❤️👋👋

Here are my suggestions if you're wanting to live in South Bend.
The north shore triangle area
The northeast side close to ND
Twickenham Hills

@@andrewslife1979 I just saw this comment, good job picking Twyckenham Hills, I would add Sunnymede to your list
Thanks for positive comments about an affordable-safe-neighborhood.
