This design from the FASA Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat table top game in the 80's is probably the most favorite Klingon ship from FASA, and for many the favorite non-canon Klingon ship. These are more muscular than the old D-7's and K'tinga Cruisers, and seem to mesh perfectly into the Klingon fleet as a command cruiser.
If there were any TOS or TMP era Klingon ship design (besides the Bird of Prey and K'tinga) that would appear on the big screen, I think this would be a contender.

The video doesn't mention the significance of the name. In FASA ST:RPG history, "Riskadh" was the Line Name of Kahless the Unforgettable, the equivalent of "The House of Riskadh" in what became canon in the movies, TNG and DS9. In that (now non-canon) history, Kahless wasn't an ancient figure, but lived about where we are today (~2018).

I was about 12 when I first got into it all. It was also right about the time it stopped getting published! Imagine if it had all gone the path of Battletech which evolved into Mechwarrior how different Star Trek might be today. Probably a lot healthier.
Ugh! All those TOS, TMP, and even TAS ships that are lost in obscurity. The narrative within the FASA/Starfleet Battles/Role Playing Game, is brilliant.
I agree, this is funny. My son has been watching DS9 for a while and he said, "Why are there so many Excelsior and Miranda class ships, when they have SO many more?". The "real world" budget. *SIGH*
It's a shame that this particular Klingon ship didn't make it in any of the movies. I would of like to see how Kirk or Sulu deal/fight this vessel.

@@jamieolberding7731 Waltz Dizzy didn't pay Alan Dean Foster for his expanded Star Wars! You would think the equally greedy suits at CBS would claim everything ever made under license? The Orion Wanderer appeared on a console in TNG season 1!!!
@@fleshanthos I do remember seeing the Orion Wanderer schematic in that one episode of TNG. It's a shame that the Orions and their amazing ships never get much screen time that the deserved.

@@rowdydog That's alright. Apology accepted. There are many and I many different classes of Klingon Warships out there that some even forget/or simply unaware that they even existed.
This vessel is by far my favorite Klingon vessel of all time! It served honorably in many of my campaigns. Thank you for rendering all of these FASA vessels to life! I would love to see all of the FASA ships rendered and a large fleet battle and even peaceful exploration animations. Keep up the great work and thank you! :)

They should have settled the copyright issues before making any new movies or shows. How can you have a Star Trek if you can't let it look like Star Trek? I hate all the "new" stuff and no longer watch.

Very nice presentation! When I originally saw the basic drawings from the FASA docs, I wasn't that impressed, but you made it look good. Really like the "live fire demonstrations"! 😉.

If you like this ship then you should look up the Klingon L-20 fast battleship. It was a FASA design that appeared in a gaming magazine. It was supposed to be larger than the D-10 but still had a leaner meaner appearance.
This video gives some serious Starfleet Command vibes.

one thing id do is redesign it a bit by adding a raised bump on the aft section adding a few features of the vor'cha

We statted this out for Star Fleet Battles and playtested it for a couple sessions. Thanks to knowing the FASA stats, it was a fairly simple transfer, but damn...the first time it encountered a Federation CA, it absolutely shredded it. Kind of like a well abused meat target!

The first FASA model I bought; as my friend bought the Enterprise! I had the STSTCS game, he had the RPG. I have won many a battle with it; unloading the fwd heavy torp and then flying by to release an aft torp of equal power!

The recognition manual mentions some of these ships were outfitted with the command pod of an L-9 Saber. I swapped the parts out during my model building days and it is a cool take on the design.

He made much better looking ships than the very LAZY ASS people in "Star Trek: Discovery" and "Star Trek: Picard" who were "ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AT THEIR JOBS!!!"

Hold up there. The D7s were using 2 to power 15s weren't they?
I know the D10s were using the 2 to power 20s, which is 30%. A bit more than slight.
If I'm wrong& the D7s of that Era were using the 2 to power 18s, which is only a 10% bump. But i don't remember a whole lot of ships getting those.

This ship never appears in TOS or the Movies. We do see a super D-7 in ST VI. For that ship, I like to use the Star Fleet Battles designation, B-10 though. I do think your D-10 is a sexy ship and I wish we had seen more ship types in TOS. Maybe if the series had gone 2 more years and magically had gotten a bigger budget, but if wishes were horses.
The SFB B-10 is an entirely different critter. It's a battleship meant to take on and best the Federation DN+ and CVs. The D10 would be more akin to a transition between the D7 and DX.

🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and very well informatively explained and executed in every way shape and form and detail possibly provided indeed, I myself have loved the D10 and it's capabilities as it a FASA design indeed and I myself own one the original fasa lead models and two various other resin kits in two different scales my larger one is 12inchs long and got it through Federation models.

Amazing ship very powerful weapons great design
Is there a DERF M1 and a DERF M1A? In the DERF class video, the engines are standing straight up from the saucer. This video has them tilted inward at about a 30 degree angle on thinner supports !

Didn't the B-10 also have a stasis field generator? I recall using it to hold a Rommulan ship until I could repair weapons

If you took a different perspective look on this D-10 design, by removing the head and neck, the ship would look visually more sleeker and less bulkier. :D
I always thought the ktinga or Qo'nos one was a D10.

Klingon super dreadnaught? Did they have one? Or something iconic like the federation defiant? I don't mean like the Brel BOP. I mean like fills a niche that didn't know they needed till they did and almost lost a war/battle without it?
Yes they did at least in Star Fleet Battles it was the C-10 and outmatched most others nations Dreadnoughts.
Super dreadnought? Wouldn't that just be a WWII era battleship? Dreadnoughts, despite their name, were nothing more than a transitional form of battleship that, among other things, went from a mixed caliber main armament mounted in sponsons to an all big gun main armament mounted in turrets.

Were the D10 Heavy Cruisers used in the Great Tribble Hunt?
They were...but performance wasn't great. Tribble kept clogging the disruptor and torpedo launchers.
It was the Kling D7 that was created during the 4yrs war
I still prefer the D-7.
The D-10 looks like it has a split turtle shell on it's back.
Still the D-10 is a much more capable ship in every regard.
It is canon in my version of this universe.
My canon ends with the last episode of Enterprise, before all the copyright issues tore ST apart.
I would just build a bigger K'tinga class.
Depends on what you mean by making a larger K'tinga class. You could make it a little larger but only so much so. In real life, you can't simply just take a ship and scale it up and call it a day. By scaling a design up you have to make changes to the design because of the increased size and mass and this would almsot certainly result in the change of various parts of the design because of changes required due to the increazed size and mass. You'd need different engines, more RCS thrusters, decks would have to be re-rarranged and more added, compartments would have to be re-configured, and so on. You'd have to change so much that you'd be better off designing a new ship from scratch instead of constraining yourself to the confines of an existing hull form.
If upscaling ships were a possbility the navies of the world, esp. in the US, Japan, & Britain, would have taken succesful designs of smaller ships and upscaled them for other designs. Instead of designing cruisers and battleships from scratch they would have just taken succesul destroyer designs and upscaled them to cruisers and more so to become battleships.

It's not canon (might be in Star Trek Discovery), but per the FASA universe it was a war between the Federation and the Klingons some years before the events in The Cage, and also when the Battle of Axanar took place.
I still say that neck is a massive weak spot
Weak without shields. The struts of Constitution were weak without shields.
And the neck of the saucer section. Still, both were bad ass looking ships.
I also forgot structural integrity fields were also used to reinforce weaker design features and were as important as shields.
The D-10 was not superior to the Connie. It had all of the same flaws as the D-7 series.
seems a bit too powerful, if you seek armor and firepower you should sacrifice speed to get it
