How lucky his mother were back then..Teenagers nowadays dream about having korean boyfriends or husbands while his mother met her oppa back in 1980s.. 🤣
I know Korea since I was young.. My dad's boss is a Korean and married with local Malay lady.. Until now we were still having a good relationship.. Hehe.. And yes back then in 80's that aunty Ana already met her oppa.. The one that young generation always dream for.. 🙊
Jap... Adik kembar perempuan dia... Maksudnya?? 🤔🤔🤔
I remember in 1987 my dad work with a company JV between Malaysia and Korea. He was involved in the construction of the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) / the Malaysia University of Technology in Skudai, Johore. He even when to Korea for training in 2002 during the FIFA World Cup. I still have the sweaters that he bought as my souvenir. When they had official company dinner, some of the ladies from Korea wore Hanbok and I always get confused with Kimono. Good old days!
I heard this story from my parents . Actually in 80s, there's a lot of Korea company came to Malaysia especially in Sarawak for highways projects. In army's my father said that they learnt Taekwondo from Korean teacher not like today. His friends also been send to Korea for army engineering courses. My mom also said that, most of foreign doctors in that time also from south Korea
I am more "ancient" than Haidas in terms of mix parentage of Malaysian and Korean! My parents married in the 70s. They met at work too, at a Korean construction company in Malaysia. My Korean mom had an adventurous spirit and decided to take the opportunity to go overseas for work since her family had connections to get a passport. Back in those days, it wasn't as easy to get a passport in Korea. Like Haidas, we ate our mom's cuisine, so growing up we had mostly Korean food with some Chinese Korean fusion recipes that my mom created on the fly 😅 My parents mutual language is also English, so we only spoke English at home. My dad knows how to read Korean characters (but he doesn't know the meaning), he learned Korean back in the 70s to write love letters to my mom after her 1 year tenure in Malaysia had ended and she returned to Korea & my parents kept in touch via snail mail. My dad flew to Korea to propose to my mom and in the old fashion way, my mom had to be married in Korea before going her husband's country. She joined my father in Malaysia a few months after their wedding in Korea once her spousal visa was approved & her family sent with her an antique Korean cabinet, some Korean dolls decoration & a very ornate mother of pearl traditional big Korean foldable round table which we still have till today. As my mom's family is Christian, her main wedding ceremony in Korea was in a white western style wedding gown ☺ instead of the traditional one but they had their outdoor photo shoot with my mom in hanbok. During my sister's wedding, all of us wore hanbok 😄 Also, can totally relate to the chillax Malaysian parent and the "pali-pali" Korean parent (the Korean culture of haste) & when do anything, to do it with gusto attitude.

Enjoyed this video... En. Haidas (Harap2 betul nama encik ni) is such a wonderful person... In Malaysia, sometimes when the guest seems really enjoying the food, they will end up getting packed food when they want to leave. 😅
He said he grow up in home speak Malay. I grow up in mix culture. In 7 of us siblings only 3 of us speak well in Chinese but sometimes our pronunciation kind of off. Well at least he does try to speak.
I'm from mix parentage but our main language is from my mom. Arwah ayah jarang giler guna bahasa dia unless kalau ade saudara atau mendiang atok/ nenek sblh ayah yg dtg. Mother's tongue usually rules in mix parentage family....🤭🤭🤭
Points to the both of you for trying your best to speak English. It's sad to see how so many people look up to Korean celebs and entertainment industry but in reality the racism in Korea is appalling

Back in the 80's, Malaysian Government started sending students studying in universities in Japan and Korea as a new Government's concept of "Looking East" instead of sending students to western part of the world. That's how it was started. Some students met their spouses in Japan or Korea.
Back in 1980s ramai org Korea kerja dan duduk di Petaling Jaya. Ada satu blok flat kat PJ penuh dgn young Korean families. Selalu nmpk young Korean wives mencuci mengemas tak berhenti. Nmpk dr balkoni dapor diorang. Tahun 1990an saya mengajar BM sorang Korean Engineer. Dia duduk apartment dgn beberapa rakan sebangsa. Ramai korean expats duduk KL masa tu sbb bnyk projek berjalan era Tun M dulu. Muka2 Korea tu tak sama dgn Kpop stars ya. Muka Korea asli.
